  2. Hi everyone, My brother is looking for a place for the Percy Pud in a couple weeks. If anyone has one or knows anyone who has one that is no longer needed, Please let me know. Will pay full cost price and arrange to pick up the pack too. Many Thanks
  3. Hi all, Myself and a friend are planning on running a half marathon to raise money for Weston Park. We want a few months to get ready for it so are looking at maybe June/July onwards. I wanted to go for the Sheffield half but firstly won't be ready in time and secondly my Partners due date is quite close to it so want to leave it. I know this is all quite picky but ideally i would like one as close to sheffield as possible. I can drive so don't mind driving somewhere but don't want to be too far away. Can always stay somewhere overnight the night before i suppose but i don't want to spend a crazy amount. I would also like a fairly flat race (Don't mind a couple of hills but would be nice if mostly flat!) Finally i would like it to be quite a popular run with a lot of entrants. I've don the great yorkshire run in sheffield before and love the atmosphere when there is loads of runners. So does anyone have any suggestions for quite close, flat half marathons with quite a high number of entrants? Thank you in advance Rikki
  4. Hi everyone, I want to get my front and rear bumpers as well as the side mouldings on my Renault Megane, Colour coded. I dont know of many body shops in sheffield and as its something i havent done before i wouldnt know what is a good price and what is a rip off!!. Anyone recommend any decent places? and would anyone have a rough idea of what i might be expecting to pay? Thanks in advance Rikki
  5. Banksy, Do yo have any idea how many entries there have been so far? - Is it looking likely to be bigger than last year?
  6. Hi, Does anyone know if you still get a discount at sweatshop if you are a parkrun member? - I remember you used to be able to get a discount by showing your parkrun barcode?. I'm going to go there for some new trainers and just thought i'd check see if anyone knew whether the discount was still available Thanks Rikki
  7. Thanks for that Banksy, I think I'll sign up!
  8. I was thinking about doing it but some reviews say it gets a little cramped on the narrow paths and also there are quite a lot of hills? I'm just getting back into it so dont want to do a race that i cant finish. Anyone on hre done it before? what is the course like?
  9. Hi all, Lookign at going abroad in the October half term holidays with my fiance and 2 children (will be 5 and 1 when we go). Any suggestions as to where to go? Would like somewhere with good weather, plenty for families/kids to do. I've only ever been abroad twice and I'm not too sure which countries have good weather this late on in the year?. We don't have a budget as such but don't want to pay a crazy amount. would like to go all inclusive (buying drinks all day to keep ourselves and the kids cool and hydrated would soon mount up otherwise! Also if anyone has any suggestions on where would be best to book the holiday for a good deal then please say Thanks in advance for any replies Rikki
  10. Hi all, I recently switched my Current account with Yorkshire bank to Halifax along with all my Direct Debits. I got a letter through from Halifax saying they had all been switched and the details of them all below. I then got a text from Vodafone saying i had not paid my monthly bill and to phone up and pay it. The money had also not been taken from my yorkshire bank account (which i left open with some money in just in case). Basically the Vodafone DD with Yorkshire bank had been cancelled but the halifax one hadnt been set up!. As a result the payment was 2 days late, will this affect my credit score? i asked the woman on the phone at vodafone and she said it should be fine as only 2 days late but she didnt sound confident in herself and i was always lead to believe that a late payment is a late payment regardless of how long? Thanks in advance for any replies Rikki
  11. I liek the way some of these posts are phrased and worded. I slapped my little girls legs , and as i stated it wasnt even hard enough to leave a mark, it was purely for the shock factor. she had seen her friends mum and dad threatening to slap her and they never did so my little girl thought the same. I did not LASH OUT, or SMACK her. as for you suggesting that these actions can be cruel and perverted, Thats a bit of a harsh comment so i will ignore it. finally as for you saying it rarely acts as a deterrent, my case proves otherwise. I slapped my girls legs couple of times and its proved very successful, i havent had to tell her off for a very long time. I simply have to give her a stern warning if she does wrong so as for rarely working thats a load of rubbish! For parents who slap their kids without warning several times a day then yes that may not work but the way i did it did work and i dont regret the way i did it. My little girl is better behaved than any of her friends.
  12. I have slapped my little girls legs before, not really hard, not even enough to leave a mark but just enough to shock her and it followed several warnings so she knew what she was doing, i followed the warnings through and she carried on so i proceeded to do as i said i would. this has only happened a couple of times as it seemed to do the trcik to the point where i no longer had to give more than a couple of warnings and now dont have to give any warnings. Her behaviour only changed when she had been spending time with her little brat of a friend who gets away with everything and is genuinely one of the most horrible children i have ever met. She needed to learn that this wasnt the way to behave and arguing and answering back wasnt the right thing to do. I tried naughty step first, sending to room etc. She had seen all this with her friend who just screamed and had a tantrum which she proceeded to copy, the only thing her friends parents didnt do was follow through and threats of punishments and slapped legs. I followed through the threats of slapped legs and now im back to having a very well behaved girl who i havent had to tell off for a long time whereas the other little girl is still a brat and my girl doesnt see her any more
  13. I personally think Credit cards are a good idea if you are strict enough with yourself from the start. I have had an Argos store card since i was about 19 and was started off with a £300 limit. Over the past 4 years I've spent on it and paid off within the interest free period and my limit has slowly gone up to £1600. Whenever I spend on it i simply just divide the amount I've spent by the number of interest free months i have and then pay that amount each month, Never pay the minimum payment cause i means paying even more the next month to catch back up. If you want to spend £700 on a CC over 12 months interest free then just set up a DD for £58.33 and leave it to pay itself off. As long as you can afford the £58.33 without a doubt and can guarantee making the payments then go for it. If you find you have a little money spare at some point then pay it off or if after 6 months you have enough to pay it off then do so. Just make sure you don't then get sucked in to buying more and more. Only use it if you NEED to.
  14. If i was on minimum wage (I'm not on too much more as it is) i couldnt live the way i do. I wouldnt be able to put any money in savings towards a mortgage deposit and would be stuck renting for the rest of my life. I can honestly say if i was on minimum wage, working 40 hours away from my missus and kids just to pay the bills, I WOULD go on benefits, I would get everything paid for me and a few quid left over as well as an extra 40 hours a week with the missus and kids which is priceless! As it is there isnt a big enough difference between benefits and minimum wage. once childcare costs have come in to play, most parents work for nothing. my Missus stays at home with the youngest (oldest at school). We were going to see about her grabbing a part time job for exra money but once childcare costs for the youngest and travle costs have come off then she would be working for around £2 per hour! as well as not seeing our youngest as much. The minimum wage needs to be at a level where people think 'maybe i would be better off working' as oppose to 'why should i work 40 hours a week for an extra £20?' As i said, i wouldnt have an issue being on benefits rather than minimum wage, if they were my 2 options.
  15. Tell her to refuse him access to his kids until hes willing to pay, I know that can be harsh on the kids as its there dad but it would be the only way to make him realise. If me and my partner split, I would never leave her to struggle on while i see the kids and don't pay a penny towards it.
  16. Wow, There are some really idiotic comments on here!. All children are different so no parent can question anothers way of raising there child. I'm a dad and My 5 year old girl needs a good 11 hours sleep or during the next day she gets really mardy and ratty throughout the day so we make sure she goes to bed no later than 7:30 so she has had a full nights rest before getting up for school. On a Friday and Saturday shes allowed to stay up a little later and then watch a DVD in bed or read a book. That is her routine and she knows how it works, School nights are straight to bed and weekends she can stay up later. If it wasn't for her bahaviour when she hasnt had enough sleep then I'd let her stay up later no problem. I can't see a problem with taking your baby/child for a walk at night to settle them down. My 9 month old usually goes to sleep downstairs and then we take her up to bed with us when we go up. We try putting her to bed at 7 and 8 but she wakes up every 5 mins. when she falls asleep downstairs she stays asleep and gets proper rest. When my 5 year old was younger i sometimes took her out in the car for a little drive as it settled her down. PARENTS knows best and no one else has a right to question that.
  17. I used to work at Tesco and this happened every day. There used to be a bloke who came every Sunday with his son during the day to take from the bins. I can personally see why they do it, We had to throw things away when they passed the 'display by' date when the 'use by' date might be a few days away so the food was perfectly edible. Probably saved themselves a lot of money!
  18. What a load of rubbish this is! My missus wanted a new top last week so i took her to Meadowhall and we must have tried 7 or 8 shops before leaving empty handed as they didnt have anything that she liked. I'm sure this kind of thing happens every single day to loads of people who would all lose £10 just because of your impatience. As someone else said, If you know exactly what you want then you can just go to the till and pay for it. the kids who are browsing shouldnt be in your way!
  19. Thanks again for all the replies. Against some peoples better judgement i opted for a mountain bike with front suspension. I did pay a little more than i orginally stated thought. I bought one of those huge chain locks, cost £25 and weighs around 2-3kg, wont have much else in my bag other than my lunch though, so not really bothered about carrying it round. I then bought a set with a pump, puncture repair kit, allen keys, got some spare inner tubes and also a second coil lock ( Was advised to get 2 locks and use the cheaper of the locks for the front wheel while using my big lock for the back wheel and frame?) I know a lot of people advised getting a road bike but the main reason for that seemed to be the speed which doesnt bother me. I'm happy to spend an extra 10 mins there and back for the comfort which i'll have with bigger tyres and some suspension. I'm not going to be going downhilling on it so should be fine. My biggest worry now is riding on the roads. As a car driver for 5-6 years ive seen my fair share of bike incidents due to other car drivers not looking properly. some drivers often dont see me in my car! so how will it be for a bike!. I'm also not looking forward to roundabouts, the speeds in which some people drive around them is scary. I think il use the paths/crossings at roundabouts for now! thanks again everyone and thanks to the people who PM'ed me
  20. A reason i was looking at the one i mentioned was mainly due to the shocking sheffield roads, I didnt think one with thin tyres would be the most comfortable. As i said speed isnt an issue and i dont mind taking slightly longer getting to and from work. the majority of my ride to work is downhill anyway. Cost, comfort and safety are my main concerns. I need something that will brake well, and is comfortable on the potholed and cracked roads. I would say i have a budget of around £200 but in that i would need to get lights and padlock(s). I already have suitable clothing. The advantage for me with the Argos buy was using my Argos card and spreading the payments... thanks again for all the replies everyone. Rikki
  21. thanks for the replies so far. I'll check out your add later this afternoon when i get the chance squeela131. thanks
  22. I want to start riding a bike to work instead of driving. It will save me money, get me fitter and I'm sick to death of traffic! and to be honest when the traffic is taken into account it will only take me about 15 mins more to and from work!. Only problem i have is i dont know anything about bikes. I dont care for speed or the latest technology. I just want to be able to ride and stop safely. There is a Muddyfox Rebel 26 Inch Mountain Bike in Argos which seems quite cheap. Would this be any good for me?. Work is around 6 miles away so looking at 60 miles per week. Would only be used for this really. Any help appreciated Rikki
  23. I think i may come down tomorrow. I've been wanting to join a group for such a long time but always worry that when i get there I'll struggle too much. Suppose the only way to get going is to just go for it! So its 6 o clock tomorrow? who should i ask for? Also what kind of route do the slower group go on? is it relatively flat or hilly?
