  1. According to Newsnight the majority of people newly in employment are self employed, however far from starting their own business, this is because employers are declaring their workers (people like parcel delivery drivers and care workers) as self-employed to avoid giving them a number of employment rights, thus the work is very low paid and insecure. They also reckon, (sorry can't remember the name of the people involved in the discussion,) that the average wage of the self-employed is less than £10,000 per annum, and working conditions are very bad. Meanwhile the Trussell Trust says that the use of foodbanks has trippled in the last 2 years and includes a large number of low paid workers as well as the unemployed etc. They also suggest that ways be found to help this group share in the nation's wealth, rather than it all going to those at the top. I would suggest that this recovery is all smoke and mirrors - there's an election to be won...
  2. If pranging somebody's car is the worst mistake Ed Balls' ever makes, we'll have gotten off very lightly...
  3. Remember when Dave dragged the cabinet up North to prove how inclusive he was? That was supposed to happen on a regular basis, but again he hopes we've all forgotten... To get back to the North South divide, - they haven't a clue about life outside London. Why can't half those 600 MPs have to move and stay in the North all week and work from there. They wouldn't like it, but how do they think we feel? It would be much cheaper and they could champion the North with its particular problems and give us the benefit of their wisdom first hand. This government is very keen on parachuting 'experts' into failing organisations when it suits them, so why not parachute a few MPs in up north. I don't know about you, but I feel we've been abandoned.
  4. You've got the map upside down..
  5. Gordon Brown was an economist, and ex Chancellor of the exchequer. To get it so disastrously wrong doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. And I don't kid myself that the Tories are any brighter, they simply have an election to win...
  6. They can make all the legislation they like, but if it's not enforced on the ground, they might as well not bother. That's the problem on so many fronts these days. Powers are often in place, but with all the cutbacks in staffing levels etc, they haven't a hope of ensuring that they are complied with.
  7. That's not the point. The divide is the point. Taken to its natural conclusion, the less investment there is in the North of England, the worse it will get untill no one will invest up here at all and the North will become a third world wasteland of poverty and nothing else. ---------- Post added 16-04-2014 at 17:30 ---------- Didn't I hear somewhere that in the days of the British Raj, the whole of India was run by 140 civil servants?
  8. Yes I agree with this. We are so heavily 'governed' we seem to have rules and regulations coming out of our ears. I'm sure it's because they're looking for something to do to justify their existence. Mind you, I do think we need some sort of council for the North of England. The Northern experience is now totally different to the South East (for example 80% of investment goes to London creating new jobs etc.) and they are totally out of touch. We really need a body up here to fight our corner.
  9. Let's see, who shall I believe? - a bunch of proven lying politicians, or the evidence of my own eyes in the supermarket? Errr....Not difficult. Do you not go to the shops then....?
  10. So, what is your view of what happened? If simply an accident, do you think Boeing 777s should be grounded and checked for faults, or can we expect more planes careering all over the place in the opposite direction to that intended?
  11. There are two separate patents under discussion. The Boeing remote controlled system was filed in 2006. This simply proves that remote control of a passenger jet that overrides the crew on board is possible, an issue that was under dispute and has now been confirmed as possible as far as I'm concerned. The other involves Freescale. This contains the names of 4 Freescale employees who were named as the inventors (of a microprocessor or microcontroller?) and were passengers on the plane. Personally I'm not sure about this one. I've never heard of Stuxnet.
  12. I've had two, and I was extremely nervous and nearly sick just thinking about it. But with the sedation there was nothing to it, in fact i think I more or less slept through it...
  13. Reply to Altus, and I1L2T3 Thankyou both for your replies. The patent and beneficiary in the Snope's article are what I'd heard, but as I've not found much about it anywhere else, I haven't gone with it until I've heard it from more reliable sources. Interesting if true. The other one, (this one) I don't really understand, but it looks like it could be one and the same. I'll definitely look into it. Amazing what you come across when you look isn't it? The Carlyle group pops up again.. ---------- Post added 14-04-2014 at 04:45 ---------- Wow, I think that's quite a find. I've read the patent and it's pretty much proof of what we've been talking about - a patent for an invention to remote control and fly a Boeing jet. So it's certainly possible to fly a Boeing jet by remote control from a location on the ground, and there's nothing the pilot can do about it. That opens up a whole new dialogue as far as I'm concerned.
  14. Have you got a source? ---------- Post added 13-04-2014 at 21:31 ---------- Yep, that's what I heard. Is there a corroborative source?
  15. I knew there was a patent pending but not what it was. I also know who the next beneficiary down the line is, but not in what capacity. As the person who told me says, if you want to find something out..follow the money....
  16. Considering no one really knows where to look, I'd have thought Diego Garcis's help would be appreciated, particularly with their particular expertise, and Australia has been investigating more than 3,000 Km away; beyond the 'ping' line barrier. ---------- Post added 13-04-2014 at 20:04 ---------- So now you agree that it is at least possible. Of course it's not desirable or justifiable, that's rather the point of keeping it secret isn't it? Money doesn't come into it, there are people who can definately afford it, never mind countries. That's one of the risks of putting untold wealth into the hands of relatively few people. As for people not getting on a Boeing knowing it could be remotely controlled, that is also a jolly good reason for keeping it quiet...
  17. Nobody is saying the plane is there, but that there is a possibility it is involved in some way. Instead of repeating the same words perhaps you could add something interesting to the discussion.
  18. No it's not. It's a military base in the area with a runway long enough for a Boeing 777, that just happens to have been programmed into the pilot's home flight simulator even though most people have never heard of it and the media have been at pains to keep it out of the media. It also has some of the latest search and find technology but has not been deployed to help in the search, even though it's easily as near to the possible crash site as Australia.
  19. And here's me thinking planes had automatic pilot technology. Let's see...In the real world, a plane with 240 passengers on board, 20 of them working for a Global company leader in remote technology, embedded microprocessors and microcontrollers, has disappeared flying in one direction, been picked up flying in the opposite direction, below the radar, then possibly traced flying in a third direction, before possibly crashing in the deepest part of the ocean. Relatives are outraged at the lack of communication and misinformation that's been given out. No debris has been found, the black box has not been recovered and, more than likely, may never be. A military base in the area, with as much hi-tech location technology as you could wish for, has not been mustered or mentioned, and the authorities are reported as not co operating with or sharing information with MI6, FBI or CIA who are also involved. Never mind the phone call, all the above are facts. Suspicious? Me? Why would I be? You on the other hand are far too trusting... Have you bothered to Google anything? to see what's out there?
  20. I don't know what's possible, or what's been embedded, or what's hidden, or what can be activated remotely. Technology advances, fast. But they can control things on Mars by remote, seeing as how you mention it.
  21. Halibut, I was replying to doskuk and JFKvsNixon above: "Looking on the Mail website, I see no quote or source that the co-pilot was calling for help. If this was the case, and the recipient of the call had spoken to the media, do you not think they would have revealed the content, regardless of whether he was saying they'd been hijacked, the wing's fallen off or the computers have taken over and they don't know where they're going." "As for remote control. It's a preposterous idea, you need to read less science fiction."[/QUOTE] Military Drones all fly by remote. It's no secret that the milltary are working on remote controlled warfare, including planes. Why do you think the Freescale link is so significant? Look it up.
  22. Quote: Page 4 'Mail on Sunday.' 'Sources close to the investigation told the Mail on Sunday yesterday there was growing frustration among foreign agencies at the lack of information sharing by Malaysian officials Agents from Britain's MI6 and America's FBI and CIA who were invited to help with the investigation in Kuala Lumpur have had their requests to conduct interviews with family members of the pilots and crew put on hold. Malaysian officials will not even supply them with transcripts of their interviews, instead giving outline briefings that are often frustratingly short on detail, a source close to the foreign intelligence agencies said. 'This should have been a Global effort from the outset,' the source added. 'We should have been working together on this. 'It's not something Malaysia can handle alone, We may be missing vital clues.' Separately, a Government source said senior civil aviation and military officials were facing dismissal for incompetence and confusion in the vital hours after the disappearance. It took days for the details of the military radar tracking of the plane's change of course to emerge. 'They became very territorial and there was much resistance especially from the miltary to hand over raw data to investigators.' the source said.
  23. He's also been accused of tax evasion in Denmark, according to Wikipedia, by saying he's none resident, but at the same time his wife claimed he's resident every weekend so he could buy Danish property.
