Taking inspiration from Plato’s Republic, the exhibiting artists, returned to the original location of the art school, will present their entreaty across four localised sites, accompanied by texts concerning the role of the artist in the city from Ahuvia Kahane, Esther Leslie, Sue Spaid and Ines Weizman. A major event in the artistic calendar and in the history of Sheffield’s art education, The City Gates sees the assembled artists addressing their institution and their city, declaring their worth and their place within both.   9. hi, not had much luck in the 'wanted' section... your old clothes wanted for art then charity! im a 3rd year fine art student at sheffield hallam uni. for my degree show my work will involve installing 40/60 washing lines in the university's main 'atrium' space. so basically i need loads and loads of old clothes. so before you throw anything away or donate anything to charity please donate it to me first and after ive done i will be passing them all on to charity. if you want to see your clothes transformed in to an art work call into sheffield hallam's city campus between monday the 18th of may and friday the 5th of june! a great opportunity to have a clear out and take part in a unique experience. please pm me if you have anything to donate.

  13. hey all, we do a free monthly gig night at the stock room: myspace.com/musicapovera we have a slot free on thursday 29th. im wanting something different...something classical maybe..string quartet? vocal group, jazz, world music etc. cant pay you but youl get some free drinks and should be lots of fun. anything considered for this and future nights. get in touch! cheers
