  1. I have a small bag if anyone is passing thru Crookes one day and would like to collect from me?
  2. For some reason, my ipod has ceased to display any of the music, and has started to display solely the time in large black number. If I run my finger round the 'dial' (no idea what it is called) then I can change the music...but I can not see what I am changing it to, as all I can see is the darn time. It is playing the music fine. What on earth has happened to it? How do I get it back to the playlists etc
  3. Mid-week. And thanks for the top tip Liam, that was REALLY useful!
  4. Does anyone know of anywhere classy which offers a really lovely breakfast experience, say, for a birthday or some such occasion?
  5. Yes, FANA. That exact piece of music. I have watched this film scores of time over the course of my life, and have always loved that music. No idea what it is, though. Shame.
  6. Could anyone tell me......in the film 'Staying Alive', what is the name of the second short piece of music which plays during the part when John Travolta is watching Finola Hughes dance. About twenty mins in. Anyone?
  7. Regardless, I still struggle to understand how a parent would let their child out of their sight at half past 7 in the evening. No, we can't watch them all the time (as someone said), but when we are not watching them, some other adult is (ie school or a grandparent). I would never, never, never let my child out to play with another child. He isn't even in the garden without me. I don't think people are BLAMING the parents, but there are things that parents can do to minimise risks to their children. Even in that small town (where I visited as a teen on a school field trip for a few days), parents must be savvy to the ways of the world, and would not be so naive as to assume that 'it could never happen here'. Regardless of location, by half past seven of an evening, is it not unusual for a a five year old to be playing out in the street, out of their parent's vision? My six year old would be just out of the bath and about to hop in to bed.
  8. Just out of curiosity, to which Steiner school do Sheffield parents send their children, or to which school do they go if they have been to the Montessori nursery?
  9. That is really weird, because my friend's daughter, just yesterday, was talking about an interview as a sales assistant at a new bookshop on Ecclesall Rd.
  10. Did anyone else go to this? How fab was he??? Fantastic!
  11. Thanks. I am going to contact the cat shelters to see if they can advertise him for us, or see if they can help. He is so sweet. No, Repo, he is not that cat, unfortunately. I'll get on the shelters now.
  12. A number of months ago, a cat started to frequent my mother's garden. Despite advertising this cat as 'found', nobody has claimed it. After a while she started to feed it, and housed it in a little outside kennel. It is slowly becoming more and more trusting. However, my mother is unable to take it indoors due to having a cat of her own, who, even though the other cat remains outside, is affected by this other cat always being in the garden, and is very unhappy about it. My mother would ideally like someone to take this cat and give it a loving home. We have taken it to the vet but it has not been microchipped. It is a boy, and has been neutered, and now just really needs somewhere to live. It does show signs of wanting affection, and, I believe, with the right owner, could be such a loving cat. If anyone would like to take this cat and offer it what it so desperately needs, then please PLEASE do get in touch. It will probably be quite timid at first, and so patience will be required, but given time, I feel that this cat will be a lovely companion. Please can you help? I would help, but I have a rescue cat who is petrified of everything, and so am unable to assist this poor ginger tom. Please send me a message if you can help. Thank you.
  13. Wagamama does nice food, as does Ask.
  14. While I don't feel it is 'disgusting', I do, as a woman and a mother who has breast-fed, struggle to imagine me ever having fed in public. I do appreciate that it is, indeed, a very natural act, but it is also a very personal, and very intimate one, one that I always did in the car, the feeding room, or the toilet. Going to these places was never an inconvenience, and I would never have wanted anyone to observe me in those close moments with my baby. That level of intimacy can be very uncomfortable for people to witness, and, whilst times have changed, we still need to be aware of other people's experiences and histories, as to why they may feel like they do, rather than just criticise them for not sharing a more modern opinion. I, personally, would also move away from anyone who was breast-feeding in public, also. I have to admit, I don't particularly like to see it, myself, but I understand that this is my issue, but realise that this is because I would want to give them the personal space, and quietness that I feel befits such an event.
  15. No idea, Grandad. The communication I have received from this company has been worse than poor. Is it acceptable for me to have a break in my MOT/insurance, considering this situation. I certainly don't want to renew with OneCall for obvious reasons, but can't get my MOT/new insurance while they have my car. Even when I first contacted them, I told them about this, which is why they placed me on supposed high-priority and was told my car would be collected within three days. Not only was it not collected in that time, but they didn't even contact me. I had to contact them, and they did not come until, as I said, 11 days after the incident. What is more, is that they told me if I took my car to a garage for inspection during that time, my insurance would be null and void. Now they have my car, they couldn't care less about my predicament. Considering I came within inches of a DOUBLE BED flying through my windscreen and killing me, I am absolutely disgusted at the lack of interest, and care this company has provided.
  16. Advice please. I was involved in an incident where my car was hit on the motorway by an unsecured load which fell off the back of a van. Despite notifying the insurance company iimmediately, it was 11 days before they came to take away my car for inspection. I have also been advised that it will not be returned for a further ten days at least. The problem is, my service, MOT and insurance expire tomorrow. When I asked them what I should do about this - considering they have my car, and I can't do anything about the above - they told me it was not their problem! I am livid. I am not sure what to do.
  17. Sounds like a common theme. I wrote to them, and have now been offered a free meal. Interestingly, since having now mentioned this to friends, one of my friends went there a couple of weeks ago, and had the same experience, and has also been offered a free meal. It sounds like they are well below par, and are offering more in the way of service recovery, than service. If they keep this up, they are going to lose a hell of a lot of custom.
  18. Avoid! Had a dreadful experience there very recently. Just popped in for a quick drink and nibble on a short bar crawl, and was horrified by the shocking service. All we ordered were two small tapas. 45 mins later, and drink almost drank - still no food. Went to ask. Barman went to check...it would be a further ten mins! Asked for money back as we wanted to move on - told no refunds. Asked to speak to the manager - she was the manager (that night, anyway!). She apologised, but explained that they were 'busy'. Since when is it ever acceptable, regardless of how busy an establishment, to have to wait over 50 minutes for food? Or, in this case a small plate of potatoes and squid. If they were having staffing issues, then why was this not mentioned upon ordering, thus giving customers the option to take their business elsewhere? It was the least customer-focused place I have visited in a long time. Diabolical. I have written to complain. Their staff need further training...including the 'manager'.
  19. Is it a pre-requisite for all Labour voters to show zero tolerance, and complete and utter loud, obnoxious disdain for other parties and people regardless of the reasons why they hold differing opinions. Seems it's their way or no way. I never knew they were so anti-democracy. 'Off with their heads'.
  20. I have just received a message on my mobile telephone from a number I dont recognise (07513606313) telling me to reply to this message immediately as there is £2167.67 waiting for me in PPI refunds. Obviously not going to reply! Has anyone else had this?
  21. I would try to cast aside how this reflects on you. Nobody will be considering how YOU look - only them.....and even then, it's none of their business. It SOUNDS like he has just got swept up and carried away. You see this so often, one partner going off on an intense love affair. More often than not, they come crawling back, or try to, at least. I don't blame the girl for not wanting to try again, I couldn't. Once that trust is gone, it's gone. However, I can't tarnish your son with the 'men who leave for another woman' type. This is life. Not everyone stays together forever. Things end. But, 'love', after a month. Sounds more like infatuation to me. I would just let them be, let things simmer, and see what happens. Leaving his family to move in with another woman who he has only known for a month, though, is very impulsive, and very ill-considered, particuarly when it comes to his child. A month is no time at all, and, if he doesn't decide to remain with his new flame, then a LOT of damage has been done based upon a quick lustful reflex action.
  22. A similar thing happened to me many years ago in Liverpool. Jumped on and dragged to the floor by two big blokes, hand over mouth, arm around my neck, other sitting on my legs, and relieved of my cash. The police were dreadful. I went to the station the following morning. In shock. I had seen one of their faces. The copper told me they would be round immediately with a book of mug shots. Over one month later, they turned up! By this time, that image had long faded from my mind. The incident haunted me for years. I mean, about 15 years. I was always looking over my shoulder. Totally paranoid. Then I worked through it, and I am much better now. I do suggest getting it out of your system if you can. The trauma stayed with me for too long. Pleased to her SYP were hot on the scene. In my experience, and their have been a few occasions, SYP have always come up trumps!
  23. £12,000 per month????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I doubt it. Do you mean £1,200 per month?
