  1. Yes, sorry - forgot that caveat. I don't think that's what the OP was alluding to though. If they don't need to exchange for other reasons (unusual, but not impossible), some paper licences could be around for another 30 years!
  2. https://www.gov.uk/exchange-paper-driving-licence "You’ll need to: ... pay £20 by MasterCard, Visa, Electron or Delta debit or credit card" Plus paying for the renewals. Paper licences don't expire.
  3. But you can try the council ... "If the vehicle is blocking access to your driveway you should first make enquiries with the neighbours to see if they know who the car belongs to so they can move it. In most areas local councils have now taken on responsibility for enforcing parking provisions under what is known as Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE). Under CPE it's an offence to park a vehicle so that it blocks a dropped kerb driveway" https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q440.htm# (Sheffield has CPE)
  4. Definitely scam calls. Pressing the button won't get you charged though - that's not how phone work. You will get connected to a human, who will then try to get control of your computer to "fix the router", or elicit banking details "to correct the error" . It confuses them no end to be told "yes, please cut me off".
  5. The bus was there when the mini roundabouts were tried see the report: https://trl.co.uk/reports/LR562 (plate3).
  6. The experiment was performed by the Road Traffic Laboratory. Report here: https://trl.co.uk/reports/LR562. Diagrams and photos.
  7. Check the fitting instructions for the washer. I think that the outlet from it needs an upside down 'U' in the hose to prevent water coming back, and the instructions should give you the height. At least one of our machines over the years also came with u u shaped fitting that clipped outside of the hose and then could be screwed to the back of the cupboard/wall
  8. Don't know which pages you were looking at but 5 minutes following the link and browsing around shows it's been established over 20 years, works internationally, has about 50 employees/partners and clients have included B&O, Starbucks, Barclays bank, Jimmy Choo, and JS sports. On the other hand, they do appear to be a turbo charged commercial estate agents!
  9. Wasn't it always two floors - there was the bridge to the staffroom up there, tech drawing rooms, medical room, seminar rooms as I remember, or do you mean they've filled in the void that was above the metalwork area?
  10. I'm sure I remember it with a "z", and there's this http://www.humanleagueforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=42748 which saya "Brilliant photos Pauline. Very, very jealous. THE actual Crazy Daizy sign. Wow. " and this http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/e3sa934/Do%20It%20Thissen/crazydaizy2.jpg. Wikipedia says it was "z" originally, and changed to "s" later.
  11. Coal Aston Aerodrome was a large airfield and maintenance depot, covering the area between meadowhead and jordanthorpe. http://www.abct.org.uk/airfields/coal-aston-i-greenhill-sheffield and http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw020382. There are also views on picturesheffield showing the extent, it was large enough to have an internal works railway. Nothing to do with the Coal Aston airfield - the grass strip at Apperknowle.
  12. And then the council rep comes around and fines you for contracting with someone who doesn't have the right waste carriage licence, so they get even more money that way. (I think green waste is actually exempt, but there's still some paperwork)
  13. The picturesheffield archives notes for s24621 (put it into the search box) say it was an annex for Rowlinson. Jordanthorpe, surely? Anyone know any different?
  14. No, the cashier won't be prosecuted. This section of the act deals with direct sales. This is a proxy sale, so the adult who handed over the cash is the one commiting the offence.
