  1. Hey!! Good luck, I do the same but from home and it’s a brilliant job, only problem I’ve had is that I can’t offer a collection service as it’s just me and my partner + the dogs are chomping at the bit for their morning walk as soon as they arrive:hihi: I’ve had quite a few owners contact me who live too far away to drop their dogs off before work, so let me know when you’re ready and I’ll pass on your details.
  2. You offer a great service teeny and I agree that any business, especially one that involves children or animals should be thought through and planned very carefully. I had this idea 2yrs ago after being a dog walker for 3 yrs but it’s the first time I’ve had a home with enough room and a large enough garden. I also run my own Internet business (this is the boring job but pays the bills). Working with animals isn’t as easy as some may think but as you and I know its incredibly rewarding and great fun. x
  3. It’s the best and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Ups!!!! with the exception of having my kids.
  4. Yes, yes and yes. Lol…..and have already been grilled by the soapbox people on my original thread, so would like to say the following. I known people who’ve acquired their first dog, and from day 1 have had a brilliant affinity with the animal. I’ve also known people who’ve had dogs all their lives who in my opinion shouldn’t even keep a goldfish. The later group will claim to be experienced. Insurance can be easily purchased by anyone with no suitability test, and I’ve heard many people complain about the treatment their dogs received at boarding kennels that have been operating for years. Caring, responsible owners who are willing to pay to ensure that their dog receives the exercise, stimulation and company it needs, I believe have the common sense to make sure that their dog is placed with someone who is trustworthy and capable. The reason there are many business’s offering dog walking, sitting and home boarding is simply due to demand, which I think is great because it means that more dog owners are taking dog ownership seriously. I’ll now get down from my soapbox, but do ask any other soapbox people if they would concentrate on their own business, not mine.
  5. Hi, I’m re-posting as many of the calls I’ve received suggest that people think I’m running a boarding kennels, so need to explain better. Doggy Day Care is like play school for dogs, dogs stay with me all day while there owners are at work, are walked twice per day, and then remain in my home until collected by their owners when they return from work. I charge £10 per day for dogs staying 5 days per week, £12 per day for 4 days, and £15 per day for 3 days. I only offer overnight boarding for dogs that are already settled at Doggy Day Care.
  6. It is great fun, lol and the dogs love it too
  7. Hi, I’m based at Charnock S12, which is a 2min walk from Gleadless Town End and on the very edge of the Derbyshire countryside (great for walks).
  8. Thanks for the good wishes. Decided not to bother with a web site, as it’s a small-scale operation, and so far my dogs have come from recommendation. I’m not looking to have more than 4 or 5 full-timers. x
  9. Hi, thank's for the good luck wish. Doggy Day Care offers a day care service to dogs as an alternative to dog walking. Dogs in my care stay with me all day and have at least 2 walkes per day. Full time is 5 days a wk at ÂŁ10 per day. Part-time is 4 days at ÂŁ12 per day, 3 days at ÂŁ15 per day. Overnight boarding is available to dogs who are settled at Doggy Day Care.
  10. I understand why you reacted the way you did, I’d do the same. The reason I’m not banging on about my qualifications is because my business isn’t dog training, it’s dog welfare. I’m offering an alternative to dogs being shut in the house all day while owners have to work. Any day-to-day training I do is based on what makes life easier and happier for the dogs, owners, and me. Lol, you’re asking me questions that I expected from prospective owner when they called the number provided, but never mine, this is how it works. First contact would be to meet for a walk with myself and Murphy (who’s a great judge of character). If all goes well then the new dog would have a week’s trial at “Doggy Day Care” to make sure that they got on well with the other dogs, and settle. Of course places will be limited, I don’t have eyes in the back of my head.
  11. Hi Strix, I’m pleased you asked the question as it shows that your main concern is for the welfare of dogs. Yes, I have over 30yrs experience in keeping dogs as pets, but I also have over 30yrs experience in dog training, and dog psychology As far as your expert is concerned, in my opinion dogs learn bite inhibition from their littermates; aggression arises from fear, and the best way to avoid fear is to allow dogs to mix with other dogs, and people, in a safe, happy environment.
  12. Lol, sorry but don't need staff yet, don't blame you for asking as it's the best job in the world. x
