  1. apparently the majority of gun deaths in US are also suicide related. Very sad
  2. hi, has anyone had a cellar conversion / could recommend some firms I can contact ? There are four cellars in total, two are already open / in use (99% dry) with a staircase going down from the kitchen into a cellar 'hallway' We want to open the remaining third/fourth cellar(s) and convert to a 'cinema' room. We need to add door opening and electrics. The walls are bare brick / rubble I think. We'd need a ceiling putting in, insulation / probably damp proof too and some ventilation. There are electrics & heating in the other cellars / hallway. We've only been in one of the enclosed cellars briefly (accessed from room above), but it appears to be the same height as our other cellars and appears dry. Does anyone know if I would need to seek planning permission / building regs ?
  3. allow plenty of time, it is very very popular !
  4. every morning I pass the council cleaning crew as I travel across the city ... I often wonder the same, Woodseats is equally as bad :/
  5. ah unlucky - he could check with the bars that he was in or the door staff, but its very unlikely that it would have been handed in, if outside on the street :/
  6. hello, I have around 6-8 empty costa coffee tins - they have a secure twist top. I hate to throw them in the recycling, but I cannot think of a use for them at home - could anyone use them for storing crafty type items, bits and bobs ???
  7. we had one of the teenagers from the next street move into our house over the summer for a couple of weeks. He was near enough to his mums for support / emergencies and we left vet details etc in case anything bad happened to the kitties Obviously there was a lot of trust required and I almost went completely grey worrying, but it worked out well. Have you thought about one of your neighbours - perhaps they have an older, responsible teenager who could help ? Obviously they won't be licensed or insured, so clearly you need to weigh the risks x
  8. mmm interesting. I developed a painful ache in my right shoulder a few months ago ... thinking back I had been painting a ceiling & walls and was regularly partner dancing. I sleep on my LH side with my RH kinda stretched across me and under my pillow / cheek. Along with the ache I also have a weird clicking ! So I went to see the physio at work and she believes I have supraspinatus tendonitus ... seemingly there are 4 tendons in the shoulder which is called the rotor cuff, and it seems that you can damage them through regular / repeated use - sports people particularly suffer and I can make the connection to dancing (RH is always in the air over my head ) The tendon i have damaged is at the front .. symptoms are pain / aching / clicking :) It does seem exacerbated by driving, especially when I am going around corners She made me take ibufrofren for a few weeks to reduce the inflamation (I didn't realise that it takes 5 days of taking the tablets for them to get into your system, so you have to take them regularly, otherwise it is pointless). She has also applied 'physio' tape (sorry I can't remember its proper name) - it is flipping strong ... basically she is supporting my shoulder tendon and every time I move the friction causes blood to rush to the injury thus making it heal quicker. This is reapplied every week (3 strips across shoulder and up arm). I've also got some exercises to do, which are fairly non impact, but will gradually add more impact as it strengthens. These are available on the internet (rotor cuff exercises). If I don't see an improvement soon she has recommended that I have an MRI to check what is happening just in case it is something else. Anyway, that's my experience - sounds similar to you
  9. I would say you are very lucky I've done the same a few times, including morrisons only to be told the next customer has likely pocketed it I do think they need an audible reminder to take your cash along with the standard take your bags & leave !
  10. the red berries are on the holly, the flowers are on the ivy ... I walked down through the woods and around the allotment / cemetery and was surprised at the variety of foliage growing wild. It helped using different types of ivy - green, flowering and varigated
  11. it looked good even a few months later and in fact it is still in our washhouse a few years on lol
  12. oooo I made one once - I used willow to make a 'hoop' which i secured with more willow. Then I wrapped around long strands of ivy and poked through bits of holly and some dried hydranger heads. Then hung it with some ribbon. I was really pleased ... I have a photo, will figure out if I can post it somewhere with a link. My only advice - wear gloves if you are using holly, it is unbelievably prickly ! ---------- Post added 17-11-2015 at 22:45 ---------- I've possibly managed to upload it to flickr !
  13. I got some clear plastic food cones from Ebay (food suitable) - they came with red ribbon too. I made them at the weekend and they look awesome, I am soooooo pleased !! wish I could post a photo :/ ---------- Post added 17-11-2015 at 22:47 ---------- ok .. think I managed to upload them to flickr: ---------- Post added 17-11-2015 at 22:47 ---------- there should be 3 photos
  14. my OH went down at ound 9pm, but didn't see it
  15. even at 6.30am this morning it was busier than usual ... i sat on London Road, by the small Sainsburys through 3 light changes, in a queue of traffic ... not sure what the blockage / delay was :/
  16. it is entirely possible that the driver didn't see him if it was dark, as he was mostly black. I'm so sorry for your loss, RIP kitten xx
  17. we did this, moved the bath under the window and then moved the toilet from under the window to mid-way on the interior wall. We then boxed in the waste, which was half hidden by the bath anyway ... the only slight thing you need to worry about I believe is ensuring you have enough of a fall away for gravity to do its thing
  18. Hi Chez, will be filled with dried goods only ... will look at the link - thanks !!
  19. hello, I want to make some of these for my nieces for Christmas ... but not sure where to find the plastic baubles. http://bubblynaturecreations.com/2012/12/hot-cocoa-mix-ornaments.html I've looked on HobbyCraft site, but their baubles come in two pieces and I think really I need the fillable from the neck type. Googling brings up lots of American sites Has anyone seen any locally or any suggestions for potential stockists that I can follow up - Sheffield / Barnsley / Chesterfield ??
  20. posted in another forum: a black cat has been hit and killed outside the rotherham United football ground Poor thing must have been terrified with all the fireworks going off, RIP puss x
  21. oh dear, sorry to hear this - apparently there was also a burglary on Camping Lane very recently - they took jewellery
  22. Am sure a lot of you on here are familiar with the work of Rain Rescue & Friends of Ferals - both are very small, local animal charities doing some super work. Friends of Ferals have printed some Christmas cards that they are trying to sell to raise funds (5 cards for £2.50) ... if anyone is interested, hopefully this link will take you to the page https://www.facebook.com/groups/568668673204959/permalink/936849213053568/?notif_t=group_comment_reply Admin, if this post is not allowed, please delete and accept my apologies
