  1. The things you remember once you sit thinking! I had some flat really pointed ones with an elasticated piece at the front(as did most of our school at the time) I loved those shoes. Had the same ones in black, red and tan. Every time a pair wore out I got the same again in a different colur! (Sad!)
  2. Hi CAZ1 - I went to Waltheof and left in May 1985. I remember going to the annex on a monday. Used to have a laugh and sit telling ghost stories at lunch time in the yard! Then, we'd go back in egging each other on that the building was haunted! Them were the days. The teachers I remember were, Mrs Smith(D.head) Mr Wing(biology)Mr Baveljar(maths)Mr Ellis (P.E)Miss Atkins(P.E)Miss Graney(P.E) and many more that I can see but cant put a name to (must be my age!)
  3. Hi Jossman, sorry but I think you have the wrong person, it was definately Rebina's in castle market and up by the side of what is now pizzahut. (spent too many hours in there to get the name wrong!)
  4. We are trying to trace a guy called Ummy who used to hang around with Andrew Daswell and co. Anyone know him? He lived on Kelvin Flats during the 70s/ early 80s.
  5. My partner lived on Kelvin Flats around 30 years ago up to being middle teens. He often talks about the times he had with all his mates. If you lived on there during the 70s or 80s please reply.
  6. I was painting my son's bedroom when it came on the radio. When I went downstrairs and put the t.v on I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was like watching a movie, it just didn't seem real. I still feel like that now when I see footage of it on telly.
  7. Get some cif oven cleaner. It doesn't have those awful fumes and works really well. Its' about£3. Leave on for about 1 hour and wipe clean.
  8. Nice one Clare! My mate once lost her knickers on the dancefloor in there. They were the ones that tied at the side and we were all killing ourselves laughing at these knickers getting kicked around the floor until my mate realises they are hers!! That very same mate also went into labour (5 weeks early!) while dancing on the same floor(though at a different time) the week before christmas 1993!
  9. Well, I can't believe no-ones mentioned the good old Attercliffe Rads! I spent most of my childhood in there very saturday night(sometimes sunday). I went there all through the 70's and early 80's til it closed (sad day that was). I can remember the 'turns'. especially the 'discoes'. They were great and the memory of them still makes me smile some 30 years on. One memory that stands out is sitting in the 'bottom lounge' with all the other kids. They had space invaders etc and a pool table and all the kids used to congregate in there while the bingo was on! I can remember Stan and Doreen behind the bar and Cecil on the organ and craig on the drums! Them were the days!
  10. Are you talking late 80's early 90's here? Remember dancing to Kenny Thomas! and soul II soul, Luther Vandross, chaka khan etc etc. Wicked times.
  11. It's all coming back to me now though! The Doormen, especially spanner (he was my partners best mate growing up!)
  12. Can't recall any. Am getting old though and my memories failing a bit! Can't believe that I didn't even remember the girls working the lights 'til I just read though the posts!
  13. Hi, just seen your post re: cairos! God, got some lovely memories of there from around 1987 to around 1995. Had some great times. Used to go every Saturday night. Got to know many faces over the years. Actually met my partner in there in '87. Prefered it in Jax's than Cairos though. Music in there more to my taste. More soul, R n B etc. Never really into this pop stuff which they played in Cairos side.
  14. Hey I remember Gaydons butchers just off woodbourn road. I had a friend who lived in the next yard! Their tomato dips and bacon butties where lovely.
  15. Seem to remember a fruit shop at the end of Woodbourn rd in the 70s and I think I actually went to school with their daughter Sandra
  16. Hi, Mandy. Can't believe it. I'm new to SheffieldForum and decided to have a scout through to see if I could find anything on Attercliffe and found you! I think I can remember you. I lived on Jessell street(the very last house before the bridge) I too remember some of the names you mentioned like David Twelvetrees (Twelly!) and your name too is very familiar though I can't put a face to you. I remember the smithies! Very srange, used to scare the life out of me!! I went to Woodbourn and later to Waltheof. Remember Mr. Simms, Mrs Anyon (Scarey!) Mrs. Monahan, Mr. Byrnes, Miss Barnes(my fave) Mrs Ring etc etc could go on forever!! Reply if you get the chance. Lisa
  17. I remember Rebina shoe shop. I loved it! Nearly drove my mum mad every Saturday we had to go and ' have a look'. Sometimes I was even lucky enough to come away with a pair! Many years later, I remember talking to a guy in a night club who claimed to be the son of the owner of Rebina's. Don't know if he was though.
  18. Hi lolalola, just read your msg about the calf length boots from Rebina! Can't believe it, I had a pair in pale pink! Loved those boots I Have an awful photo of myself in them somewhere that should have been binned years ago but the boots looked wicked so just couldn't bring myself to chuck it!
