  1. Had 2 sweeps - neither worked which was a little disappointing. Baby was finally born after induction 16 days late! If only she was as laid back now!
  2. Thanks for that pcmick - my nephew has installed WindowsXL service pack 3 on it tonight and updated some drivers for various things (don't ask me!) and at the moment my pc appears to be cured of the problem - but if the problem returns I will have a go at your suggestion!
  3. Ahhh, thanks peeps, you've talked me into it! I'll have one happy lad come Chrimbo morning!
  4. Hi all - My lad is wanting an XBox 360 for Christmas - but I have heard that they are always breaking down. Is this true? Just dont want the hassle of having to keep getting it fixed. Any advice anyone? Would I be wasting my time and money?!
  5. I'm on Windows XL - and for a couple of weeks now everytime I switch the computer on I get a blank screen and this is only cleared by switching the power off at the wall and back on again. Then as the computer is loading up, it is like it gets so far and switches it's self off again and begins to load again. It can do this a few times before deciding to stay on and get to the 'welcome' page etc. When it does eventually stay on, the date is back to either 31st Dec 1999 or 1st Jan 2000 and has to be changed. I haven't a clue what has started all this and I'm hoping it's something that can fixed relatively easily. Any ideas anyone? By the way I am a complete novice! Please keep it simple!! LOL Thanks in advance! Footie :-)
  6. Well! Quite a post there! I have just phoned my mum (Iris Smith - maiden name) and read this out to her! She remembered EVERYONE listed! You brought back a few memories with it too I can tell you! She did know about James Elmore as she has kept in contact with James' sister Brenda for many years. And yes, David did become a doctor. The other family of Smith's near the Star had 2 daughters called Joyce and Jean. The shop you mention with the name you cannot recall (the house that doubled as a shop) - well my mum seems to remember that the same Janet Armstrong from 'Janet's' took on that shop as well. My Uncle (Ike Smith) was best friends with Chester Lowe and he was also in the footie team you spoke of. Do you remember a Mrs. Rodan (Annie) who also had a daughter by the same name? Do you remember Maureen Smith? (She had red hair) She is my mum's cousin but also lived with them back in those days. Think my auntie will be coming up for 70 now (not that you'd know!) Do you remember the Sharman's? They had a daughter called Evelyn and lived next door to my mum (though not sure which side she said now! - sorry!) Now, last question! Was your Grandmother who lived at 58 called Mrs. Johnson? And have YOU written a book? Might be a strange question to ask but if this is you, both my mum and auntie Maureen have read it a while ago! (And thought it was great!!!!)
  7. As the OP wrote, can this (WINCARNIS) be bought anywhere in Sheffield these days? Never heard of it myself but my mum is after some.
  8. I do! I am in touch with him! pm me your name and I will tell him if you want! Lisa
  9. yeah tried that too - but the pencil is only light. Hopefully will make a start on the painting in, later in the week! :-)
  10. I tried to! But because the drawings are only in pencil, it hasn't shown up on the camera! :-) Sorry! I will try again though once I start to put some colour on!
  11. Well, the designs are on the walls (in pencil!) now for the nice bit! Painting! Going for the tester pots of emulsion - will post pics when it's complete!
  12. There is a little shop just off The Moor, down by the side of Dorothy Perkins and just past 'The Wong Ting' Chinese restaurant. It's on the corner on the same side as The Wong Ting. They sell comics, and models etc and they had some wrestling masks. The type of thing that Rey Mysterio wears - is that what your after? Think they were a bit expensive though if I remember correctly. Hope that helps!
  13. Ummmm, BUT, it's not a crime to take your daughter out to get a take-away. It IS a crime to make a hoax call to the emergency services. SO, the hoax calling numpty started the process that lead to this tragedy, yet he'll be sat laughing at the driver if or when he takes the blame.
  14. Thanks cynic - I have my arrows back now! but thanks for the advice! Quick as well!
  15. YOU medusa are a SUPERSTAR!!!!!!!! done it and sorted! I wouldn't in a million years have known that! Thank you! SF to the rescue once again!
  16. Right, I have no idea what I've done (though have a feeling my 3 year old may have been pressing buttons again!) but the arrows at the top left hand side of my screen which enable me to go back a page or forward a page or refresh the screen have gone! Without wanting to cause further problems by trying to sort the problem myself I thought I would come and ask on here - the computer advice I've been given before has always been spot on! So, thanks in advance! Footie
  17. Asking on behalf of a friend - anyone know what day Hucklow Primary go back next week! She's managed to lose the sheet with the hol dates on! Thanks in advance! Footie
  18. Spent a lot of time on Rydal Road at my friend's house over the years - what number did you live at?
  19. I can remember the grotty frozen food place right at the top of Broad Oaks on the left hand side. There was always fish fingers and stuff dropped on the floor and the smell was awful! That was probably mid 70's when I used to walk up that way on the way to Hammerton school.
  20. Hi marie g - I lived in the LAST house on Jessell St, just before Broad Oaks and the bridge!
  21. In reply to the two above posts - I remember Kerry Davison! I am around the same age as Kerry. I can also remember her brothers and sister and her mum and dad. How are they all?! To trout3, I know Wendy Wilson (lived in the same yard and still keep in touch with the family) she is doing fine and has just become a nanan for the first time! Anne Birks, Dawn Cook. To marie g - some of the names you mentioned sound familar, Noel Palmer (just got in touch with his little sister after losing touch for many years!) Wayner Lycett, though I know Jayne more. The Lowes, Crumps etc - remember them well. And Rhubard Island! How could you forget that?! Great times and great memories :-) Was Mr Anthony's a sweet shop on the corner of Woodbourn Road?
  22. Awww, how sad - R.I.P. Rachel and heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
  23. Wow - well done! The website is looking good! Echoing carsupplier's words, the book would be brilliant and I hope it works out!
  24. Very very sad and my sincere condolences to this lady's family and friends.
