  1. i was wondering if anyone knows the history of firshill school .i.e when it was built and was it a workhouse school at anytime.my grandad went there in 1910,i was there 77-78,my bro was there 77-82, and my daughter went to nursery there for a few months in 1985 before moving to present location
  2. i knew the first one, learnt it at my first piano lesson.......and electricity is cheaper in the evenings..

  9. NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD TO PUT MONEY AWAY FOR A RAINY DAY!
  10. i totally agee with you, actual cost of going overdrawn is £2.50
  11. i have always been careful to make sure enough money is in my account but sometimes due to human error and not being perfect or when your caught up with the day to day stresses of life you forget when sumthing is due out until it is to late,i have always lived on the breadline so have been extra careful but 18 months ago everyone wanted to be paid by dd and i had that many going out one week i forgot about one and was charged,as a result there wasnt enough in for the next one and the next etc ,i had no idea id been charged and it wasnt til i went to draw out money for food that i found i didnt have any money in my account because it had all been taken for charges .they had taken £200 ! all our hard earned wages for that week! i was fuming! i had no money for food and had two kids to feed but when i went in to discuss it they were very cold and uncaring. i was sitting there in tears and begged them to let me pay the charges in installments or have an overdraft but all i got was sorry theres nothing we can do. i had to borrow money from my elderly parents who didnt have much themselves just so we could eat, i will never forget the stress and upset i went through that week ,i couldnt stop crying for days, i decided to cancel all my dd,s and pay them some other way apart from two so now i can keep on top and i havent been charged since.
  12. that is why step one is to open another account first, i have done a lot of research and havent heard of one case going to court yet. this was also mentioned on a tv programme on bbc2 last month
  13. you go for it,about a week after i sent my first letter to them asking what my charges were i got a very nice phone call from them regarding a change id recently made to my account,(they have never phoned me before like this, obviously they were on to me what i was doing.)then she very politely informed me i had gone overdrawn at the beginning of the month and would be charged £40 at the end of the month,so i very politely told her to prove to me that it cost that much and what they are doing is unlawfull.(true cost is about £2.50)so she said she would get back to me.when she did she said she had spoken to the manager and as a gesture of goodwill were not going to charge me this time but please could i make sure my account doesnt go overdrawn again.i am claiming back my charges plus interest for the last six years and will fight it to the bitter end.if they ever charge me again i will just threaten to take to court.will keep you posted
