  1. I saw that programme as well. There were Eastern Europeans on it but also native Brits. Explain please?
  2. http://www.bedsforeveryone.co.uk We always buy from this company. Friendly service, fast delivery. You can visit the showroom on Mansfield Road in Intake.
  3. Just googled and found a decent website... http://www.dogwalksinsheffield.co.uk Some good walks on there, it even gives you a muddy dog rating for each walk.
  4. Hmmm...I read it as the OP complaining about the staff and was showing pics of the said staff on his phone. Maybe he was on the internet showing people staff pics from the Jobcentre Plus website? Or maybe he has taken pictures of the offending staff while he was communicating with them? Either way, it's weird. He obviously has an axe to grind and feels he cannot be heard unless he undertakes some kind of slur campaign? Or maybe he has mental health issues. Edit.... I wonder if he has looked for the staff members on facebook or twitter in an attempt to denounce them?
  5. Have you tried Sharrow Electrical? On Vincent Rd I think. Very cheap, and good range.
  6. There's one in Prague....bought a lovely warm winter coat a few years ago. I miss C&A.
  7. The new owners hold regular open days for members of the public. They show you a little slide show and talk about the history of the building, and the extensive renovations. They also show you around and allow you to wander the grounds. A donation is appreciated, but not expected. Me and my hubby went to the last open day. It was fascinating. Just google The Oakes and it will find the website where you can find details of open days. Well worth a nebby!
  8. Happens every September. As soon as the kids go back to school they start circulating all manner of nasty bugs. Is it our old friend the Norovirus?
  9. Pot luck I'm afraid. If your appointment is before afternoon visiting then you should be ok, but it can't be guaranteed. And if you park in the multi-storey you will be charged, disabled or not.
  10. It was the Lancaster Bomber of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Amazing sight, still get goosebumps every time I see it!
  11. Aaaahhh don't ya just love nimbys I get rather annoyed by these 'find my perfect home' programmes on tv. They want to be close enough to main roads to commute to work on said roads, but don't want any traffic noise or inconvenience on their doorstep. Everybody living on or close to main roads can put up with traffic thundering past, as long as THEY don't have to hear it. Not saying the OP is a nimby, just that this whole story smells of hypocrisy..... Just saying
  12. I remember Pete Scholey's mum Connie. Her and my Nanan were good friends. My Nanan was Eva Parkin and she lived with her parents Edgar and Eva Stocks on Myrtle Road, opposide the cobbles on Heeley Green. My mum Carol Parkin born 1944 went to Heeley Bank school, as did her brother Ronnie Parkin who is a few years older.
  13. With the stories in recent years of thousands of pounds rent being charged in the new market, I can only imagine that SCC have set the rents at reasonable rates if the market is opening at full capacity. I also hope to see good quality meat, fish and fruit and veg. Local and free range would be even better. I do worry about the prices going up tho. If you want better surroundings and better facilities then the prices must surely increase?
  14. The little park at Charnock by the school has gym equipment dotted around.
  15. Yep we've had one, which includes a report of the asbestos found just before our modernization in 2009. Apparently we have asbestos behind the bath panel. Strange thing is we have not got a bath...just a wet room, and it has been in for around 15 years now
  16. My son used to have diving lessons there, and I approached reception to inform them that people were just drifting in and out of the place, seemingly just for the fun of it. They weren't there watching their children have lessons, and a minority of them were openly ogling females in a very distasteful manner. I was informed by reception that it is an open facility, and anybody can just wander in and spectate. I was however taken into a control room where there was a whole wall filled with cctv monitoring screens. Apart from the changing areas, every part of the building is covered. Surely Ponds Forge should be closely monitoring people who seem to be in and out of the place with no apparent reason, and suspect their actions and motives?
  17. I recently had some from m-track and wasn't too impressed.....I paid to have them cut to size but they were around an inch longer than requested. Also, the cuts were slanting so we had to mess around cutting them to size anyway.
  18. I bought some for my son the other day from Heron Freezer shop at Newfield Green...think it was £1 for 1.5 litre. Other Heron stores should have it as well.
  19. Haha, we had two kier workmen to do a job some years back. They realised they needed some more wood so they both went back to the van to contact the depot....one to hold the radio and the other to talk into it Laurel and Hardy
  20. Can highly reccommend http://www.yorkshirefencing.co.uk Good quality fence panels, good price. We installed our own, but I know they will fit them as well if required. Can't help with the drive though.
  21. Yes, I got the same letter. It does say however that as you are eligible for Council tax benefits, they will check your circumstances and see if you qualify for a hardship fund award. You don't need to apply for this, they will contact eligible people to discuss further help.
