  1. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Just thought I'd let you know I gave the food to the Salvation Army on Moore Street, behind Atkinson's in town. They accept food 24/7 and were really grateful. If anyone has spare food please donate as there are so many good causes/charities and individuals who need it in Sheffield. Best wishes
  2. I've got some food to giveaway by 4pm today (Sunday 15th Sept). Does anyone know of a charity/good cause that will accept food on a Sunday. I've got about 10 cucumbers, 5lbs of tomatoes, 4 lettuces, a few sweet peppers, 3 avacados, 72 white breadcakes and some falafel. I'm on holiday from tomorrow and the whole lot will be driven to a dump site today if I can't find anywhere that wants it. I can deliver it. Thanks
  3. I've just been to the celebration in town for Jess, brilliant, well done Jess. Apparently 18,000 turned up to congratulate her. She seems like a really nice person and is a real credit to Sheffield.
  4. Hi Mozette, if you''re interested in a game of tennis over the summer then send me a PM. B
  5. Hi Lindsay, I am interested in playing netball again, it's been a while, but I've kept fit doing other sports. Please send me more details. Thank you
  6. Someone must have reported Valley Road at Meersbrook, the holes have been filled in there - well most of them. Perhaps if the Council knew they had to fork out for all the extra wear and tear on cars caused by all the potholes over the years, then they'd soon have sorted them out.
  7. Please can people who know the small pond in Western park downhill from the bandstand keep vigilant for a group of young men/boys (late teens) who were throwing bricks, stones and whatever they could find including uprooting some plants and throwing them at the ducks. One duck was knocked unconscious and from hearing the boys speak they had killed at least 2 previously. They also were chasing the ducks around the pond for ages. This was in broad daylight on Saturday 8th August on a nice afternoon. No-one said anything to them including myself, most people left the area. I think everyone is too scared these days. I phoned the police who turned up. However, because there was only me and 2 friends left, It looked obvious that we had called them, so we made a quick exit. Please can people keep a look out and call the police if you see anyone hurting the ducks. I haven't been to that park for ages and it was very upsetting.
  8. I got all this legal blurb re costs from my solicitor for a house priced at £134,950. See bottom of email for how much stamp duty you have to pay for me it was 1% of purchase price. 10. There's a 2-bed freehold flat at broomhill going for auction at £115K guide price - contact 0114 276 1051 to view the property - FLAT 4 YORK HOUSE, 1 ENDCLIFFE CRESCENT, BROOMHILL, SHEFFIELD, S10 3EB.
  11. I'll be needing to hire a sander in a couple of weeks and I'll be hiring from Brandon Tool Hire on St Mary's Road - their website was down today. You can contact them on 0114-275 5179. Also I found this really useful website with tips for sanding floors - see below. http://www.sandedfloors.co.uk/faq.html there's also a sanding link to the left of the page. Good luck!
  12. I assume you mean a radiator under the breakfast bar and not on top of the bar. Anyway if it's under the breakfast bar I've got one and there's no problem with it. Funnily enough our builder suggested it and I thought it sounded a little strange, but he used what was left of the worktop to create the breakfast bar and it now gives us loads of extra worktop space. With a couple of bar stools there it doesn't look too bad either.
  13. Try the auction houses. Mark jenkinson have got an auction every month and there's a house with guide price 45K at the moment at Tinsley, but you need to put a 10% depost on the day if you buy anything at acution. Also caveat emptor - buyer beware. Anything under 50K is that price for a reason http://www.markjenkinson.co.uk/ Good luck with your search.
  14. There is certainly a glut of City Centre 1 and 2 bed flats and a further 3000 have permission to built. That big hole where the registry office used to be will be a huge apartment block (32 storeys I think). Also at the bottom of hanover way it looks as though developers are about to build that tower block. Perhaps they should look over the road at the existing tower block (yellow) which is the Exeter Drive flats. I went to see a 2-bed flat for sale there in March which was for £54,000. It's now up for auction at £35,000 as the owner obviously couldn't sell. That block of flats is a complete dump. Let's hope these new flats don't end up like that. Also what happens when some of these young City Centre apartment trendies decide to start a family. It makes more sense to buy a house with a bit of space/garden. I'm sure that where the demand will be in the next 5-10 years 3/4 bed houses. Only time will tell...
  15. Regards whats happening on the Moor - Demolition of existing buildings and erection of a new mixed use development comprising 8,388 square metres of retail space (Use Class A1), 2,731 square metres of leisure space (Use Class D2), an indoor market with ancillary facilities, a link bridge and student accommodation comprising approximately 1100 student bed spaces (As amended 5 January 2007) Or basically the site for the new market and accommodation for 1100 students, some retail and leisure as well.
