  1. firstly can i say my thoughts are with the families of all killed an injured at the hands of these nutcases secondly i am a republican at heart and did believe in the intial need to pick up arms in the 70's(however controvesial that may be) as a need for equal rights for catholics and a need to protect communities but these splinter groups in no way represent the people who the majority (90%) wish to keep working to the peace process although a few hard line republicans feel alienated by the process and feel the dream of a united ireland is as far away as ever we as a people are on an equal footing with protestants/unionist and feel this is a terrible step backwards also putting british troops back in n.i is what these people want as they would then have a visible target we must all work together to ensure peace and stop all terrorism
  2. yeh i saw it too, think it was an ember from a firework as there were lots going off at the time- it had some smoke coming from it and it decreased in size until it eventually disappeared
  3. haha never thought of that, very true, i guess its a case of keeping everyone happy and covering all bases. i must say things have improved 100 fold back home, its just sad as much as i love the place and as great as it could be there are so many small minded people holding it back. children are growing up in peaceful times but parents are still passing on those bigoted beliefs to their kids and thus carrying on the whole moronic thing, sooner the peace lines come down the better i know we are an awful long way off that though
  4. coming from a nationalist part of belfast i call it derry but its isnt out of any political rational just what ive always called it and have no real preference as to what others call it, its just another piece of the silly puzzle that is secterian northern ireland(i know people who get very angry if you call it one name or the other, sad indeed)
  5. thanks alot for all your advice, its eased my mind and i will look into what im entitled to with regards my rent
  6. thats a fair point and i dont think i have a divine right just more of a right than people who have never paid into the system, im going for no longer than a few months i have also been refused any help, jsa would be better than nothing, surely some circumstances should be taken into account? as i have guarenteed i will return to work in a few months surely it would be better in the long run to pay my benefits now rather than me lose my house and possibly my job as i would have nowhere to live?
  7. your right, im so angry, maybe some people think im not entitled but surely i must recieve something its not like im having a holiday, my advisor said "well its your decision to take time off" i told her i didnt decide for my mother to fall ill and id much rather be at work, it just sickens me that you get persecuted for working and im really worried ill lose my home, wish i had've went on the sick .
  8. so im a hard working tax paying citizen, when i recieved a phonecall that my mother was ill alongside other family(who live in another country) problems my first instinct was to get on the next plane and head home but my brain kicked in and i thought i should inform work who kindly gave me unpaid leave and advised me that my job was kept open......great but the problem arose when i realised i would have no finaces coming in to pay my rent and other bills as it would be nice to retain my home so i could return in a few months time so i arraged a meeting at the jobcentre as i was told i would qualify for income support and housing benifit when i got to the jobcentre i was told that i did not match thier criteria and i would not recieve any help i put it to my "advisor" that i would lose my home as i couldnt pay the rent due to being out of work she just shrugged i also asked for any advice on what i could do next she again shrugged and said "no you dont match our criteria" i calmly told her as a tax paying citizen for the last 10 years i should meet criteria and do i have to have never worked a day in my life to match "her" criteria, sorry for going on but im angry and dont know what to do
  9. cheers...............feel daft now even more so than usual! yeh i thought id done something wrong, thanks again
  10. hey peeps, tried to read the "i think i fancy my manager" but got a message saying i couldnt view as i have restricted access or my account has been cancelled? anyone else get this
  11. back in the days of audio cassettes didnt we all tape the top 20 off the radio(took great timing to cut the d.j off in time!) i guess this is on a grander scale but similar, i agree if a dvd cost say £5 id be more inclined to buy the legit copy but there would still be that person who would say stuff paying a fiver when i can get it for free
  12. i just think that young people/kids are given such a hard time in the media at the moment and perhaps unfairly that we tar all young people with the same brush when in my experience pensioners have been down right rude and we all assume they are sweet old dears, ive held doors with no thanks yous, let old ladies passed me at the queue in the supermarket and got no thanks in return. i shall continue to be polite to all people it just id like the same in return
  13. not a big artics fan but loved this album, very retro and james bond soundtrack-like(awful description but thats what i think when i hear it)
