  1. I got Killzone 2 when it first came out, and thought it was overrated as well. But recently I went back to it, stuck with it, and it turns out to be a star. The problem for the developers is that some of the best stuff does not come until you are quite deep into the game - some of the later set pieces are ace. And you get to hear more of that old ham Sean Pertwee... The level design is great, and they have managed to get in lots of variation without it feeling strained. As I orignally posted, the online stuff is hard tho
  2. Resistance 2 online is fantastic - and you can pick copies up cheap now. Its not too serious and there are lots of people playing online too. Killzone 2 is also great - but v hard. It is also, to date, prob the best looking video game on any system, so is worth getting for that reason alone. It is the software that truly pushes the PS3 and makes it "warm up". The bottom line is - what works for you will depend on how much you want an online experience vs a solo one.
  3. Somebody suggested that it could be a late development of the "Capacitor Plague" which troubled some early G5 iMacs... Could you suggest any diagnosis software to download?
  4. Hi Ghozer My G5 iMac (10.5) has problems starting up - it takes it three attempts. This has been getting progressively worse since it started happening two weeks ago. Obviously we are worried that one day soon it will not start up at all. As it boots up the screen has interference, and then the power shuts off. When the machine is "warm" it tends to start up easier. Does this sound like a common problem? If you could offer any help we would be grateful.
  5. Hi Can anybody suggest a reliable tech support person/company who will do home visits & repairs/fiddles and is Mac - orientated? I think one of the SF regulars, and a mod I think, used to do this. Was it "Gozar" or something like? Honk!
  6. What is equally interesting is the amount of times that employers contributions ceased during "pension holidays" when the funds were judged to be healthy enough.
  7. The bottom line must be that any religion that supports a belief in eternal punishment is, by definition, barbaric, twisted and inhumane. This includes christianity and Islam. In addition, the flip side of believing in eternal life or eternal damnation is it makes it very easy to convince people to commit evil As Voltaire said (I paraphrase) "those that believe absurdities can be convinced to commit atrocities" This is the main reason for me being an athiest,
  8. Even tho it wont get any international awards, the Scotsmans Pack at Hathersage is a much better "sunday lunch/pub food" destination
  9. when I worked in Rotherham in the late 80's I knew of an MOT garage that you posted a photo of your motorbike/car in along with £5 notes and he would post you a MOT certificate back. Wanting a more personel service, I once took my untrusty Fiat 128 CL there: it was a pile of rusting cack. The right indicator would only work if the windscreen wipers were on (etc). Parked it outside, gave him the keys and went to work. At lunchtime picked it up - passed. I noted that the fish n chip wrapper lodged under one of the wheels when I parked was still there at lunch. Hmmmmmm Sadly, he was eventually lost his MOT licence.
  10. I dont watch telly at all, but the virgin broadband service is good, fast and reliable.
  11. Fiat 128 CL Estate Not a classic... but my first car. It rusted... a lot
  12. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not that wise IMHO
  13. Scum dropping litter I know it isn't going to destroy the world or make giant pandas go extinct, but it is the type of person who thinks that this is OK activity People parking in handicap spaces ditto for reason People who read "Nuts", "Hello" etc Were they educated for no reason? Did Magna Carta die in vain? People who drive giant 4x4s People who feed their kids endless crisps, sweets and cack then complain that they "wont eat any vegatables" People who let their dogs cack on the pavement then leave it
  14. Reading stories like this makes me more sceptical If there really is an entire "other world", ghosts, angels, devils, and behind this a super multi dimensional eternal "god" who created the very nature of existance, a billion times a billion stars and reality itself - well, it is pretty bloody convieneint (and p*** poor) that the only, and ONLY evidence we get to hear about is either historical (ie in ancient texts) or in typically isolated cases at night. Humanity will always be interested in this type of guff - whether its evil spirits, ufos, ghosts, faith healing or the Bermuda triangle. Before you all start saying "You need faith", "You have no imagination" or "lots of other people believe this"... please.
  15. Do you live in the States by any chance? I don't have a gun, in fact I have never even touched one. The only people I knew who where "into" guns was the gun club at uni - and they were the biggest bunch of inadequates I have EVER witnessed. I do not feel unsafe. Are you scared because of something bad happening to you?
  16. Kind of depends if you accept the need for encouraging gun ownership.... Why do you think this is a wise or noble sig line? ...not trying to be rude or anything, just interested in your reasoning.
  17. I would go to Twycross - it is easier to get to -and they have a Tapir called Collin (who is German I think)
  18. Chesterfield! It is like hopping in the Tardis and taking a journey back to 1983!
  19. In the late 1980's there used to be some on the brick wall near the back of Office World - I went past it on the buses going down to London Road It said (in white paint) "Wimmin are angry" undearneath (in black paint) it said "So are the F*&^ city sh*£ers" (a well know Sheffield punkyesque band)
