  1. Ever since the election I’ve been mocked and criticised for my viewpoints over the Libdems joining forces with the Tories.

Well now it seems that evidence exists that my viewpoints are shared by quite a number of people who voted for them.

The two opinion polls linked show their support amongst the electorate is now down to 13% and that 40% of people who voted for them wouldn’t have done so if they’d have known that this would have been the result.

Is there evidence for this?I think you are correct, but the first by-election fro the ConDems should be amusing

  2. I have one of those except it has 4GB of memory and a 500 gig hard drive but it cost a bit more.

I don't know about OSX 10.5 though, sorry, but I am very happy with it.

I'm running Windows 7, Leopard doesn't seem to require much in the way of system resources so I imagine it would? What does Leopard have that 7 doesn't?

Thanks for the feedback on the Laptop - I think the 3 gig/250 HD may be enough for my basic needs!

Leopard is the Mac OS, hence is uber stable and pretty much virus proof (without using a blocker etc).

People may disagree with the above, but I have run Macs since 1999 and never installed any protection etc, just kept the free Apple Updates, up to date (if you follow my logic). I also feel "more in control" with a Mac OS, and the painful side of life: work with Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc is the same.

  4. Greetings

There is a huge range of choice on cheapish laptops at the moment. But- I would like to give a sheffield business my trade if possible.

So - can anybody recommend a spec/retailer of cheap laptops (ie less than £450 ish), that have a good build quality, offer good aftersales service and are jolly folk?

I do not need a monster in terms of "2011 gaming" performance, just a good, all round workhorse.

    Thanks

    PS

I would buy a Macbook, but Goosebudgets prohibit

  5. Chums

After reading the 100's of "10 out 10" reviews for the PS3 game "Demons Souls" I have mail ordered it (now it is finally out in Europe)

Have any SF'rs played it - I hear it just about the most difficult console game for many a year :)

  6. Hello everybody

I seem to remeber that one or more SFrs were able to carry out (or knew somebody who could) minor iMac repairs....

Well, the video card on my G5 1.8 iMac (the one without the webcam) has blown - and I need it replacing. Problem is that I took it to the Apple Store - they confirmed the problem, but said that as it is now offically a "vintage" model, they could'nt get a new v card.

They did say it is quite a straight forward job to replace, but that I would have to source a 2nd hand card or find a supplier with old stock.

So - any suggestions on both who could do this repair, or anybody got access to a old G5 imac for spares? I seem to think Ghozer had some sort of contacts..

    Thanks

  7. my kid is 6, the world is not save for a 6 year old to get on bus himself, My other half is a few months pregnant, i am not standing in the cold to wait for a bus every morning, i got better things to do

You cant be a real human being - the material you post is either a joke or...

  8. I often wonder what the UK obsession with ghosts is… :(

There is trouble and problems in the world enough, without people inventing homeopathy, the MMR scare, eternal punishment, ghosts and the like.

    PS

As I get older, I find it hardest to believe that (out the list above) that homeopathy still even talked about - at least the rest have a socio cultural issue :( :( :( :( :(
