  1. I'm going to see him tomorrow also, never seen him live before but have always loved his music, especially his solo work. I hope he does play plenty of new stuff and not just Style Council/Jam material .. I'm really looking forward to it.
  2. Hi Zimbolite, I'm not sure how many other users with the name Corn2 there are either, but I've certainly never spoke to anyone called bl0rght or Zimbolite before, so the one you remember isn't me I'm afraid, sorry.
  3. Exactly Tony, where is it? I keep waiting for something new also, because the current crop of 'comedians' leave much to be desired. Back in the Eighties we had the 'alternative' scene with Ben Elton, Harry Enfield, Rik Mayall etc. I don't think British comedy has progressed much since then tbh. I'm sure the talent must be out there but it just needs some recognition and exposure.
  4. Only just read this and I'm shocked! Last night (Friday), I met up with a mate who was upset that one of his workmates, called Graham, had suddenly passed away aged 36. Having read through this thread and putting 2 and 2 together it seems that Graham was Happy Hippy. Didn't know you Happy Hippy but RIP, and condolences to family and friends at this sad time.
  5. Saw the police and ambulances going past earlier, later on was talking to someone who'd been in Wetherspoons and witnessed it. He said he thought it was the BBC.
  6. Thanks for the info everyone, much appreciated.
  7. Thanks for all your replies so far, but just another quick question, does anyone know what was at the Bradfield Road and Middlewood Road entrances immediately before work started on the arcade? I've heard it was a loading bay for one of the shops at the time but wondered if anybody else could verify that, and the year it officially opened. Thanks in advance.
  8. Many thanks for the replies, you've all answered some of the questions which were puzzling us last night. I do remember the fruit & veg shop now it's been mentioned, but I didn't know the alleyway was known as Bradfield Place. Thanks again.
  9. Just been having a discussion in the pub earlier tonight about Hillsborough Arcade, particularly the Bradfield Road side between the Shakey and Wilkinsons and what used to be there before it opened. My first recollection of it being there is from about 1980 but none of us can remember what shops/buildings preceeded it. Does anyone else know?
  10. Well done Blackpool, I'm chuffed to bits for them!
  11. You're absolutely spot on there spindrift. My Dad died of Alzheimers nearly four years ago and I think about him every day, I've some great memories.
  12. JKD is Jeet Kune Do, a fighting and philosophy system founded by Bruce Lee.
  13. Saw her outside Boots this afternoon, singing away with a great big smile on her face, said 'hello' to her and she replied 'have a good day, God bless you'! I think this woman's ace!
  14. I do try and catch it whenever it's on, funniest bits I've seen are when the girl (can't remember her name) sticks two fingers up at to Ron Atkinson on the golf course and just stands there and Ron doesn't know what to do, and the bloke who's supposedly working for a male modelling agency recruiting people off the street with the slogan 'GAYBOYS UK' on the back of his jacket.
