  1. My kids were photographed by someone from the Sheffield Telegraph on Saturday at Heeley Millenium Park. I was just wondering if there was an edition on Sunday or Monday that I've missed, or whether today's is the first since then. If anyone does have copies of Saturday/Sunday/Monday and is willing to check for the article I'd be incredibly grateful as I can't find anything on their website. Thank you.
  2. That looks like a good possibility...thank you!
  3. I'm getting married at the Rivendale Caravan Park. They struggle to cater for weekends but it's pretty cheap (£300 off peak £500 peak), accommodation is cheap for guests and the views/location beautiful. The person they put in charge of sorting food etc. seems reluctant to reply to e-mails, but the manager Greg is fantastic.
  4. I'm making quite a few things for my wedding as I want to keep the budget very low. So far I've used decoupage on paper mache letters (our initals with an ampersand). The letters were £1 each at Hobbycraft with the paper costing £4 per pattern, but one pack would probably cover all 3. PVA glue works to stick and seal it. I've also bought some washi tape from there (it's cheaper online though) and wrapped it around tealights-maybe £3 in total. Tiny paper bunting was £3 at Hobbycraft which could be scattered on tables but I've threaded onto string. I'm also making a button bouquet with bargain packs of buttons, cheap hobby wire and felt to pad it out. I got my kids' waistcoats from ebay. Try looking at Pinterest's wedding section for DIY ideas. I'm not an artistic person and I'm quite clumsy/bad at drawing but everything I've made has been enjoyable and turned out well.
  5. I'd like to hire a jukebox for my April wedding but I'm struggling to find a company to hire from. If anybody can recommend somewhere that will allow us to pick or provide a selection of songs I'd be really grateful. Thank you.
  6. I'm looking to move back to Sheffield early next year and would ideally like to be in the Pitsmoor (from Rock St up) to Burngreave (down to NG) area. So I'm looking for S3 (without city centre) and S4 (without Firvale) properties. The trouble is, there only seem to be a couple of them on rightmove and I'm having a really job trying to remember who all the other agents in Sheffield are and working out whether they have properties there or not. I'm concerned there's probably not a lot of private rented 3+ beds in that area but if there are I'd like to find them. If anyone can recommend agents who do have properties there I'd really appreciate it. TIA.
  7. Sorry, anywhere on Eccleshall Road/between Endcliffe Park and the city centre would be fine too.
  8. Hi there, I'm wanting to book a restaurant in town on Saturday for about 5.30 p.m. Probably for about 10 people. I'd like somewhere family-friendly (my nephew doesn't like spicy food either) and preferably somewhere where those who need to can eat fairly cheaply. If anybody has any recommendations I'd greatly appreciate it.
  9. There have been lots of threads on this subject before. At the end of the day students are a neccessary part of life. If you were seriously ill would you prefer to be operated on by somebody who has had no medical education or by somebody who has been taught to do their job over a number of years? Student are given a relatively small amount of money to support them whilst they are studying, most of which has to be paid back. The few times by student card is helpful to me I use it. Should we not use them because non-students object? If you had to do a course for your job and were given a student card would you use it? If so I don't see what your objection is.
  10. Last I heard the Farmers market is now on a thursday so check online before going!
  11. Try the Aagrah buffet (I think on Sunday and Monday nights and some lunchtimes). They put out a few different starters, curries, desserts, a rice dish and you can order naan and chapattis.
  12. I was wondering if anybody would be kind enough to check their bill and help me. I've just moved out of a house and have been sent what I consider to be a ridiculously high bill for water. The house had a water meter. In all my previous tenancies I've bad by direct debit and had some back at the end due to under usage, but in this new house, with less people staying my bill has nearly doubled! Yorkshire Water suggested there might be a leak somewhere but as we're no longer in the property we can't do much to check it out. One thing that struck me about the bill is that the sewerage component actually comes to slightly more than the water one. I thought this was a bit unusual, but I might be wrong. Does anybody know what their normal water/sewerage rate ratio is? I would've thought we'd be paying more for water than sewerage.
  13. Not such about Bella Italia but I think Prezzo is absolutely fantastic. The pizzas especially are amazing. Really really amazing. I ate there the other day with a friend, we had 2 pizzas a glass of wine and a glass of coke and it was only £20.90!
  14. I have an exam in the city centre tomorrow and would like to take the car part of the way as I need it afterwards. I need to be in the city centre for about 9 a.m. I was thinking about parking at Malin Bridge but wondered what time it starts getting full in the morning? I wouldn't mind driving a bit nearer to town but worried it'd cost me a fortune to park in town for over 4 hours. Does anyone have any recommendations I don't usually drive into town but I'd like to get as close as possible.
  15. My boyfriend's Dad plans his meals out every week, he usually has the same things on the same days most weeks which is a bit boring but he never seems to waste food. As for me, I do try to plan meals day to day and not just buy anything that takes my fancy and then have no use for it. Whenever I'm planning a big shop I flick through recipe books or Good Food/Olive/Delicious magazines and make a note of the things I fancy. I try to balance the use of new recipes with things I cook regularly and if I find that I love a new recipe I add it to my 'regulars' repettoire. Having done this for a while I've greatly expanded the foods I eat and my cooking skills and am enjoying having a more varied diet and not just eating the same meals every day. I then make a list of ingredients (I try to find recipes which share ingredients so there's no waste) and do my shop. When it comes I have a scan of the use by dates of things which don't stay fresh for long, like packets of herbs or spring onions and try to plan the order of my meals based on those. It might sound like a bit of a faff but I really enjoy reading food magazines and trying out new recipes and when I plan well I end up wasting far less. You could always start of with lists of things you usually eat and making sure you only buy the relevant ingredients and then adding in things you'd like to try later if you want.
