Basically we recently have had some problems with council tax bills being sent to our address with another persons name on. Me and my partners bills came separately and we paid up do date on our own, but continually phoned the council to try and get this person off our address. They had added them selves to our address while we were living here ( and we were the first people to live in this property , so no chance of ex tenants trying to pull one over) . Needless to say the council didnt take her off the list , although we continually phoned explaining the situation. We received a court summons for this person and phoned again. We thought it had sorted itself out, then we received a bayliffs notice for her. I got very upset by this and me and my partner went down to the council tax building once and for all to sort it out. Fortunately they understood the situation and were sure they could track down the scammer via a paper trail of previous addresses. I was just wondering if anyone else had been victims of people trying to skip their council tax by adding themselves to different addresses, trying to outwit the government ( which doesnt happen , someone has to pay in the end) .

That's pretty dire you've got my sympathy there. its very difficult to live in an area where you dont feel safe. As for ecclesall road, it might be difficult at this time of year as it is the last month before students return. Landlords around that area operate mainly to cater for the large student population. I would check out the area of S11 because I know some of those streets have flats available. sorry i cant help more you could try this? http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15471 Hunters Bar is pretty good too

Localisation not Globalisation - Stop Starbucks

Im finding that the 'anti-corporation' is becoming a cliche. Isn't it obvious that all your 'Go Independant!' speeches are just as equal a fashion nowadays. You talk about free speech If you truly believe this then what happened to respecting peoples right to choose? By ruling out certain places based on advertising principles or corporation size you are becoming the kind of people you are apparantly trying to be superior to. Every town thrives on competition and people are more intelligent than you think. I choose places on the quality of their goods and value for money and I think similarly many people shop around and choose what they like. Take a look at your comments and find out the meaning of hypocrasy before you claim 'free speech' ideas.
