  1. Nigel, that's the second time on this page you've replied with that comment... Are you lost for words..or is there an air of 'Vicky Pollard ' with you.. I'm not sure what SYP NUMBER you're talking about. There are only the normal registration marks (ie: number plates) on SYP vehicles... When they work specific football matches or marches etc.. The occasional vehicle might dispay a number in the windscreen.. But it's rare. Nigel. Whilst it's commendable that you use your full name on the forum....you do leave yourself wide open to problems. Like you've pointed out. However, I'm not sure who you think would cause you problems by your confession that you've complained.. You brought the subject up on an open forum, when you described the incident. It was probably best that you didn't, if there's no credible solution to the story and you just wanted to post that some cops roughed up some drunks.. Seems to me you just wanted to add some fuel to a fire..
  2. They don't have cctv down some dark alleys or canal towpaths either... The point is this; If someone claims to have been assaulted by a police officer whilst in a cell, it will be thoroughly investigated. (and quite rightly so). Any injuries that weren't visible/noted/complained about when he arrived at the custody area, will assist any prosecution against the police. There are of course many people who say you should conduct yourself in a manner that prevents the police every having cause to arrest you in the first place... So all 5 of you forgot the registration of the van? Not exactly the kind of witnesses that excel in the box at court...
  3. Only after you've parted with your money....Sonny !
  4. It's not like that on THE BILL you know... Oh yeah..that's right...that is fiction..isn't it ?
  5. Whilst i'm sure we wont agree on the 'take on what really happened'... I fully agree with your suggestion about it being put to bed and moving on... Lets make sure we do that...on this forum at least....those that died will never be forgotten..but I don't think raking up their memories in circumstances like these..is beneficial for anybody..to be honest..
  6. Supertyke.. Yeah..I read about that incident at the time.. it was a dreadful situation....and could have been easily avoided...if we had a criminal justice system which allowed people to be arrested and jailed for pouring beer on people and arguing with them...as tony2311 points out.. Unfortunately, we don't have such a system.. The courts don't send enough people to prison..and those that are sent there...are often released early...allowing them to rob, assault, rape and murder... The public are at risk daily from monsters who the court wont put away, or put away for long enough........ followed by probation officers and social workers who campaign and work towards their early release "because they were so well behaved in prison"... The amount of incidents I've attended over the years..that you knew were going to escalate into violence....yet the Crown Prosecution simply washed their hands off..saying it "wasn't in the public interest"..or there "wasn't enough for a safe conviction" etc...... Of course, when my concerns were later realised....it's too late then..... None of this is the police's fault...far from it.. Nearly every copper I work with, have worked with and will work with..join the job to arrest the bad guys and protect the good people.... However, the job is getting more and more difficult and more and more obstacles are being placed in the path of justice... So when I read threads about the police..it always makes me smile at the lack of those about Crown Prosecution Service/Prisons/probation/social services etc..... the departments and institutions that really protect the public once we've done our part... The bottom line is there is no real deterrent for the scumbags out there.. Prison is seen as a soft touch, the police aren't seen as nasty enough to avoid..and the public are often too quick to look the other way..out of fear. And who can blame them, with some of the scumbags you're likely to meet out there... The public are really on their own nowadays when it comes to protection...i'm sorry to say... it's a situation that I don't see getting any better any time soon.... Criminals and anti-social yobs have little to fear from the so called 'criminal justice system' that is present today....
  7. It could be that those people who bear grievances shout the loudest.... It's very much like if you have a nice meal in a restaurant, you tell a couple of friends. Have a bad one, and you tell a couple of dozen friends...
  8. I'm not an ex copper..... Your grasp of facts is slipping...again.... So you're stereotyping me on the basis that i'm tall, well built, etc.... That's never a good idea in my experience.... The put down that you are grasping for is 'you're pathetic' The apostrophe replaces the missing 'a' ..as the phrase is 'you are'....
  9. Sounds to me like you were crap at your job...got told so..and didn't like it...
  10. Who are you trying to kid? You've much pent up frustration and anger towards the police...which has festered for some considerable time..by the looks of things.... You perhaps needs to deal with it...and move on.... There's ten times more patients dying in hospitals due to malpractise and unclean conditions than in any police cell.. Perhaps you need to ballot the NHS next.... Incidentally, The "Caaalm down, Caaalm Down" was in my best Scouse text...
  11. I didn't intend my post to be a personal attack on you....far from it.. It was an attack on your viewpoint that the majority of SYP is bad/corrupt/useless etc...based on very little fact or argument.. It just doesn't wash and isn't possible... I know someone who has only been to Liverpool on 3 occasions. Once to catch a ferry to Isle of Man, once to visit the Beatles Experience and once on business. His vehicle was broken into on all three occasions. By your reasoning, that would mean the majority of scousers are car thieves...and we know that's not the case.... You can see now how pointless generalisation is, can't you ?
  12. You say that as though it's something to be proud of and is an achievement... Isn't it right and proper that you don't have a criminal record.. Isn't that how decent law abiding people should be ?
  13. So many people DON'T hate the police.. perhaps in the circles YOU move in they hate the police..but that hardly is a cross section of the public..or a percentage overall.. In every survey going, the police are seen in a positive light by well over half the population, often more than three quarters. Those that answer negatively, might complain about slow response times or such like.. but that's not a hatred of the police as you put it... Of course, when the chips are down and YOU need assistance...You'll no doubt never ring 999 for the police, will you? Like hell you won't. You'll be just like the other hypocrites who bleat and whine about the police and the moment they can't get along with a neighbour, or someone turns the TV over during Trisha..they are on to the police to sort out their meaningless problems.. I don't want, nor expect everyone to agree. People will have various views based on various experiences... But it's important to be in possession of facts... Nice of you to bring up such a sad day in history. Sad for Liverpool, Sad for Sheffield and Sad for Football. I'm afraid you've shown your colours by that paragraph...and as far as I'm concerned...you can walk alone dj4321gsr !
  14. This "age and climate"...Is that where someone like you wishes the book thrown at the police..rarther than the violent drunken female who had damaged the innocent people's cars....and then struggled with the police....? They did control her, and they did arrest her. She didn't have any injuries. So I can't really see your point... The strikes were to facilitate the application of the handcuffs...which they did. No wonder there's an 'age and climate' nowadays with the likes of yourself around...
  15. Not wrongly arrested, but wrongly convicted...due to some inaccuracies in the investigation... Silcott has served 6 months in prison for a nightclub assault on an innocent man, and also an 18 year sentence for the murder of a amateur boxer.... But of course, he's a good guy in your book..it seems...
  16. It's not gone quiet...I just had to work a shift..that's all..... The male you refer to in Hull...(not sure why you had to tell us his skin colour..)...wasn't found dead in his cell at all. He fell unconcious and died on the floor of the custody suite, with officers present.... He wasn't beaten by officers, and that was never suggested. The allegation was that they didn't look after him sufficiently. This male was arrested after attacking A&E nurses at the hospital where he was being treated. The medical staff refused to treat him further due to the abuse and violent nature, which left the only option of him being arrested. He then died whilst in handcuffs, after being laid on the floor for 11 minutes, having choked on his own blood and vomit. It was a tragedy, and I'm certain he didn't deserve to die on that night in those circumstances.... But the investigation acquitted the officers concerned. Nothing was 'swept under the carpet' as you put it...far from it... The CCTV was present, recording and made available to all investigating authorities. Of course, you'd have prefered the police leave the male at the hospital free to assault nurses and other patients, would you...? Or perhaps the police should have begged him to 'keep it down a bit'..
  17. Very much like your tainted views and opinions then....
  18. With every SYP police station custody area being covered by CCTV and microphones...I think you'll find that no such thing occurs.... More the pity, if you had to deal with some scumbag who had just raped a grandmother, before taking her life savings.... I afraid all he's getting in police custody is a cup of tea and a couple of digestives.... Some might say that kind deserves the treatment which you suggest..
  19. Nothing is quite so unpleasant as the taste of 'SOUR GRAPES'
  20. What an absolutely brilliant, well thought out, reasoned and responsible post....   Thankfully you are in the majority on here....
  21. That's bad and I'm sorry to hear that. Can you explain why exactly they were of no use to you ? I agree...such things can make you feel that it's a crime RECORDING service and not a crime PREVENTION or DETECTION service. Unfortunately, the 'crooks' of the matter (no pun intended) is that many crimes are virtually impossible to detect...without evidence or witnesses... So such a letter is all that you'll receive. That has always been the case...for the last 100 years....but at one time you'd have been told nothing...or perhaps we wouldn't have even recorded or responded to your call in the first place. (back then). So it doesn't actually mean the police are less effective nowadays...we are just more transparent and honest regarding such matters.
  22. But they do.... All the time... If you are getting a kicking outside a nightclub...do you think a passing postman will stop? Or an accountant nearby? No... usually not. However, the lone policeman who is either driving past, or is stood nearby the club...will be the one who wades in to help you... Again, it depends what you want by protect and serve. I'm afraid the cops can no longer issue beating to burglars and child molesters....that's no longer allowed you know. The decent people of the country don't like it. The bad guys used to accept it as part of being a criminal...but the decent people thought it wasn't 'cricket'.... So what exactly do you expect from the police on this 'protect and serve' front...? Remember...the cops are the ones who catch the bad guys...then the bad guys are often given paltry sentences by the courts and out on the streets in no time.. and that's the fault of the police is it ?
  23. You simply can't generalise or put a percentage on people.. That's like saying 10% of white people are evil. Or 10% of black people will be muggers, or 10% of blonde women will be dumb. It's simply not true.... there can be no generalisation with human beings. I think you're wildly wrong.....However, what exactly are you trusting them with? Your money? Your confidence? What exactly? Based on what exactly? What about their job do they not do well? Catching criminals? Responding to incidents on time? Being polite to old ladies? What exactly don't they do well?
