  1. Does anyone have a rabbit that they are looking to rehome please? It must be an outdoor rabbit that is used to being handled? It also needs to come with a hutch etc. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the info. Once I had the birth reg and it gave the mothers maiden name I had the spelling of Baggaley and hey presto! And the further info you gave me matched what I found so proving two heads are better than one ... lol Thanks again!
  3. I've just gone through my notes and sorry I have found a birth of a Walter Lawson Dec 1915 Sheffield mothers maiden name Baggaley
  4. Hi I've just come across this posting re the name Baggaley. I've been looking for an Emma Baggaley who married someone called Lawson and they had a son called Walter. Is this ringing bells with anyone? Walter was born I believe around 1915 in Sheffield. My problem is that all of this at the moment is heresay and I cannot find anything factual to agree as I dont have concrete information.
  5. Thanks everyone for your posts. Its making really interesting reading. I'd love to find out more about the area!
  6. sorry to be a pain over this but I dont really know the area! So at the bottom end of Wincobank Avenue where it meets Windmill lane. The first few houses on Wincobank Avenue the back gardens are now where the green was. So if the air raid shelters were underground where these gardens are now could be on top of where the air raid shelters were?
  7. Awoollen ... just re read your posting about the greens and the air raid shelters. Are you saying that where the greens area is that this is where the air raid shelters were?
  8. Hi Cynthia Thanks for the description, it sounds like its always been a gennel then. My husband used to live on Heather Road when he was younger and he can remember the green between the houses. It must have been then that the edge of the gennel was cobbled to match the edge of the road. Thanks for everyone elses input too! I'd like to find out more about the area so guess a visit to the local history library might be in order unless anyone knows if there is a local history group?
  9. Thanks for that .... as you come to Bevercoates Road the road that runs across the top of it is Windmill Lane and if you cross over you are then on Wincobank Avenue. The gennel I am talking about is literally about 6 or 7 houses along on your left. If you continue along Wincobank Avenue pas this gennel the next road on your left is Foxglove Road. Lilac Road runs behind Heather Road which is the road that runs behind Wincobank Avenue if my memory is correct. I have been told that there used to be greens behind some of the houses as you mentioned although not all of them are still there but have been incorportated into the gardens of the houses on Wincobank Avenue and Heather Road and there is literally just a path between the fences of the gardens. It is quite a wide gennel which is why I am thinking it might have been a small one way road at some point?
  10. Hi there Wonder if someone can help me with this query please? As you come onto Wincobank Avenue from Bevercotes Road walking towards Bracken Road not so far up on the left is a gennel that leads to Heather Road. Has this always been a gennel or was it ever a road? Am looking at some old photos and am trying to work out where they were taken and it look particularly like this area but there are cobbles on the floor and so it looks like the start of a road but I dont know?
  11. Been looking through the megathread for car boots tomorrow. Can see Marsh Lane is on but are there any other smaller ones happening does anyone know please? Thanks

  14. Hiya .. I had a similar problem with my kitten Mable when we first brought her home. She was very timid initially and didn't want to eat. In the end we hand fed her really mushed up kitten food, just small amounts but often throughout the day and eventually we turned a corner when she started to eat for herself. Now you just cannot stop her, she has a huge appetite and I often wonder where she puts it all. I think you're doing the right thing in taking her to the vets though, best thing to get her checked out. Please keep her up to date with how she is going, she is the double of my kitten Mable.

  17. A couple of weeks ago we were in the pet store in Barnsley (the one near the bus and train station) and they had some albino rats in there. My husband was doing his best to persuade me to let him have a couple but rats just dont do it for me I'm afraid, but these were adorable and were eating out of the assistants hand and my 4 year old grand daughter even fed one of them!

  19. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Must confess though he still prefers the floor! Have put a blanket down to make him a little more comfy but every morning we get up the blanket is to one side and bless him he's sparko on the laminate.
  20. Thanks for the suggestions I have moved the bed to under the radiator, not worked so far but only just done. I was thinking about one of those radiator beds, what do people think?
  21. We have a new kitten, but bless I just cannot get him to sleep in his bed and so he has spent most of his time with us so far either under the radiator or behind the sofa. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could entice him into his lovely squishy 'comfy' bed?
