  1. Do you ever 'subscribe' to threads or check them if so? I don't have a great deal of 'ticks' on my pages, usually because I'm too busy in the hidden forest to post a lot.
  2. What makes you think that we aren't accountable for our actions? We have to follow the rules in exactly the same way as regular members do and if we don't, well, we are accountable for our own actions. In fact we have more rules to follow than you do. Plus, we have to justify every action we take as Moderators / Admin. We can't just go around banning people because we feel like it . One of the first things we hear from our new team members is that they never could have imagined the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes! Sorry, just had to correct your post there
  3. Both look great, I just don't have the funds for either
  4. That looks interesting, have you been yourself? Would you recommend booking one or just going with the vouchers?
  5. Not necessarily, my daughter was under the children's eye department at the Hallamshire, I had to contact them if I needed to know anything.
  6. Decorations? Presents? I want to do something but I don't know what yet!
  7. Writing, sailing, taking photos whilst out walking. Not a great deal really, he doesn't like football or other sports. Really stuck .
  8. OK then throw me some ideas, 65th birthday kind of ideas for a male
  9. They put the eye drops in which dilate the pupils. They will then (after about half an hour) have a look into their eyes, ask them to look at a picture on top of a stick, that sort of thing. The kids tend to enjoy it mostly, they just have to look at pictures and teddy bears .
  10. They have been excellent where both myself and my children are concerned. There must be some explanation as to what happened, have you been in to see them to discuss it at all? If the doors were locked, how could you see that there were no patients in the surgery? You certainly can't see half the waiting area from the doors.
  11. It can take a few months for an appointment to come through. My daughters first appointment took around 2 1/2 hours in total and yes they do give them drops. Just watch him for a while after as they tend to have blurred vision and walk into things more than usual!
  12. Erm.....I think it may be you!
  13. Thank you for the replies so far. I'm looking at perhaps a steam train or sailing trip. I know with Virgin Experiences, you buy the voucher and the recipient calls to make the booking on the time / date they want. I just don't want to pay out loads of cash for something that's a total wash out!
  14. I'm looking for something different as a gift this year and I'm toying with the idea of an experience day. I've read good and bad things about them online but I wondered if anyone had any good or bad experiences they could share to help me make up my mind. Thanks.
  15. Did you get your baby's red book back? I do hope so .
  16. Unfortunately you can't just blame the education system. Many children are offered extra support in schools for reading, writing and mathematics, mostly all of them turn this offer down. Parents aren't happy for their children to give up any of their 1 hour lunch in order to receive extra support or attend after school. It isn't possible with a 1 hour lesson to cover what needs to be done in the lesson and give them extra support so what else can schools do? Don't forget also that most of the children who have 'readers' and 'scribes' have some kind of special need. Should a child who has a great understanding but can't get that onto paper due to severe dyslexia be pushed away from an exam because he can't write it down?
  17. I'm not sure I could cope with a dog that big, I don't have a big enough sofa . I hope the others found good homes too. No chance, she's my baby now Wouldn't be without her. It's a shame they have such a bad reputation that is so undeserved. She's still a happy doggy, Except for sore feet. It seems she wasn't quite used to being walked twice a day . So little walks for a while until her feet get used to it.
  18. Why is that then? There are loads in rescue at the minute though. My partner has had the breed before so he knows them, which is useful . She's now finding her place nicely (in the opposite direction to the cats usually ). Thank fully my two little kittens have now been spayed, check up done and stitches out so they can have a wonder and leave poor Mia alone for five minutes! I really would say to anyone looking for a dog to hang on and keep looking at rescues etc. The right one will come along when the time is right, just like our baby .
  19. She certainly does seem like the perfect dog for us . Yes, that's a bunny in the background . She came down with some sort of infection earlier in the year which affected her front leg and stopped her walking . She can get around now, although she falls over quite a bit so she no longer has the freedom of the whole back garden like she did before. As for being nervous, you must be joking! She doesn't care about the dog at all, in fact the dog hides behind the cage because the cat picks on her .
  20. My dog Sukie had to be pts in March this year at almost 16 years old due to a brain tumour which was causing fits, at the time I said I wouldn't have another dog. A few months down the line and we've been toying with the idea of getting another dog although I didn't want a new puppy with us both working, it wasn't fair and I have cats and children, it wasn't going to be easy! We didn't really find anything which we thought would fit in to our family so we decided to stop looking until after Christmas. Then I spotted this girl! This is Mia. She has just turned 1 years old and her family can no longer keep her. She is spayed, all vaccs up to date, lived with a dog, cats and children. I couldn't resist going to see her and didn't leave without her . She's an amazing dog, well behaved, doesn't chew, runs away from the cats, loves the kids, comes back when called, plays with other dogs whilst out, I couldn't have wished for a better dog. It's so nice to come home to a wagging tail and lots of doggy cuddles .
  21. I didn't notice the date, haven't woken up yet . Doesn't change my opinion though really, it was a waste of time and money.
  22. The dogs belonged to her daughter - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4619671/Grandmother-Gloria-Knowles-dies-after-being-savaged-by-dogs-in-Morden-South-London.html (I think it's this one anyway)
  23. Personally I'd rather they spent the money on somewhere that actually needs it. They have crossings down there, the kids don't use them. They have eyes, which they don't use, they have ears which they don't use. What's the point in causing even more gridlock down there for the sake of putting in something else the kids won't use? If you slow the traffic down even more, the traffic will build up causing more and more visibility issues for the kids who haven't been taught how to cross a road (or just can't be bothered). Use some of the cash for road safety lessons in school and spend the rest where it's needed.
  24. I tend not to go anywhere if I have to pay ridiculous prices for parking. People seem to think that higher parking charges will result in more people using public transport but it doesn't, we just shop elsewhere! And that goes for parks too, If I can't park then I will go elsewhere. I don't pay out all that money a year on a car (which I need to get to work as the bus times do not allow me to get to work on time) to catch the dirty, stinking bus which chucks thick black smoke out every time they set off.
