  1. Thought we were much better yesterday, but we still went missing for 20 minutes after half time, and thought ten men opened us up too easily and too often. Was a good crowd but, all season tickets were offered a free ticket for yesterday, and Vale bought a decent following too. So crowd not a true reflection sadly. BUT....... three points ... at last.
  2. Just been listening to an interview with Morgs on football heaven. He makes it pretty clear he was expecting an appointment already, and also said he wouldn't want it this time, but deffo in the future. I reckon its more a case of cant get the man they want, or hoped would come. I'm sure they had a shopping list before dispensing with Weir's services, i just hope they don't get near the bottom of the list, panic buy, and get the wrong man....again.
  3. The board aren't helping, deliberating again on getting a new manager in. Confidence is rock bottom...and so are we! I'm not sure they're deliberating, I reckon its more a case of cant get the man they want, or hoped would come. I'm sure they had a shopping list before dispensing with Weir's services, i just hope they don't get near the bottom of the list, panic buy, and get the wrong man....again.
  4. Crawshaws, normally excellent, today's was a bit chewy though! ---------- Post added 18-10-2013 at 14:30 ---------- Their dripping is superb. recommend it anytime
  5. There's a pl;ace called turners retreat http://www.craft-supplies.co.uk/ I think they specialise in wood turning, but they may be able to point you in the right direction.
  6. Here we go Trav, just got this reply back from John, here's his reply....... Firstly , an apology . I've not seen United play on 146 ldifferent grounds. I've had a count up and the confusion arose because I was counting things like Bradford playing at Elland Road and Wimbledon at Selhurst Park , duplicating the grounds. The correct (hopefully!) figure that I've been to is 137. Please find attached a list I've compiled of all the grounds that United have played competitive matches on since the war. I think its complete , but I'm willing to stand corrected. There are 145 in total , meaning I'm 8 missing , but , to be fair , they played at one of these before I was born and another is in Italy ! I've put an asterisk alongside those I've missed. I've counted Scarborough even though it was only in the Yorkhire and Humberside cup.......if its good enough for the 'Flashing Blade' its good enough for me! Also , its the only ground where I've actually seen United win something! Feel free to use this on your forum , and apologies to anyone who feels they've been misled....it was a genuine mistake and I realise there will be people out there who have seen the Blades on more grounds than Ihave. 7. Me too, don't fancy him. Wonder if the board have someone in mind?
  8. Cant find owt official anywhere, wouldn't be a major shock would it tho if its right?
  9. So our bigwigs held a meeting last night to discuss our current plight according to The Star. Which camp are you in ? I've always been in the keep him camp, and I think I still am. It would be great if we could nick a couple of wins, get the confidence up, and start to climb the table playing good, flowing football. However, after Crawley and Hartlepool, I'm wondering if that's ever going to happen, and wondering if we should get somebody in who knows whats needed to get us out of this league - and I mean up, not down. I do listen to both arguments, for and against, and can see logic in either option. But I'm thinking Sunday will be a stern test for us, and the guys gonna be under even more pressure as each game goes by without a win! I still hope he turns it around, but..............
  10. What about Burnden Park Glandford Park Elm Park Any others?
  11. I'll see if I can get a list from him... give me a few days though cos i don't see him too often.
  12. 17 years old........... No, I don't know exactly, but I guess he's in his 60s, followed em forever.
  13. Reading the thread about most loyal fans, my mate John takes some beating. John has watched united on 145 different grounds to date in competitive games (pre-season and friendlies not included). When you think about how many new stadiums have popped up over the last twenty years or so, and having played in all four divisions, and visits to non league ground in the early rounds of the FA cup, you can see how he's managed it. Some record eh?
  14. That's irrelevant isn't it - if 3 of your players are called up, you have the option to postpone.
  15. Can anybody understand why we are is not asking for a postponement for the Coventry match. We have 3 players called up for international duty, so we can legitimately request a postponement, so with your main striker, and your first choice keeper missing, why is it going ahead ? DW says he want to show we have strength in depth - Personally I think it's utter madness when we are so desperate for points? Could it be anything to do with Sky TV money? Shouldn't be if we have a Prince behind us. I know quite a few people think Sunday may be Weir's last game in charge, but of course that's speculation.
  16. I also hope we keep him remember the season we dropped out of the championship - how many managers, and look at the end result! Personally I'd be very disappointed if we swapped him for someone like Nigel Clough Just going back to Bassets day, remember our first season in the prem. bottom 3 at Christmas - finished 13th - I think, So I reckon we don't need to panic just yet.
  17. For me, first half was appalling. But, we should give Crawley credit - they are a good hardworking side who closed us down very quickly. Second half, big improvement, but still not good enough. Not enough men into the box and not creating much. Having said that, we could have won it. Good finish by king, cracking effort by McMahon and I thought we had two decent shouts for penalties. Overall...... Not good enough!
  18. You should turn up when there's a game on!
  19. So a home defeat to Crawley cost DW his job a few months ago, what chance history repeating itself tomorrow?? I still think we're gonna win tomorrow, so I hope it's not a consideration.
  20. I reckon it's in our blood. I have a pride and passion for United, but I respect fans from S6 who have pride and passion for their team. I love the p*ss take when we win and they don't, and I can take it on the chin when fortunes are reversed and they give it back. There's a great humour in football and it's supporters which we should enjoy, and not get personal and aggressive, we don't want that. Not necessary! Can you imagine how boring it would be to have a City with just one team? Both our sides obviously underperforming at the moment, but we cant stop ourselves from turning up, and watching, and hoping for better times, but I'm never happier than when we are above them in the league......and I sure you lot from S6 feel the same!
