  1. It isn't opposite Milnrow it's next door but three to the garage, Mick Smiths house, where the little A35 is on the drive.
  2. I had a pair of these as well they were called " Animal Trackers "
  3. I believe that Mrs Birkby had a son who went out with one of the girls who attended colley school whilst I was there. The spelling might not be right but I think her Son went out with Jayne Warburton. Jayne has a brother younger than me who was probably born in 63,4 or 5. He was called Kevin. don't know if they're still togather.
  4. Hello gadget girl!!!! just to put you right on the ALFREDOS point! he's a genuine Italian and still has a shop on the Chapletown Island next to the Pizza shop and the other shops that are there. He is a very close freind of my brother inlaw. who still lives in Italy with my sister where they have been married for the last 38 years. Alfedo started his business on Molinoux road next to the papaer shop where my mother used to take me for a hair cut around !966.67,68. The buisness he had grew until he had several shops , one of which was under the Black Swan or commanley known as the "Mucky Duck " on snig hill. My brother in law came over from Italy three years ago and we went to see himm in the shop in Chap where upon he put down his scissors and drank the best red wine I have ever tasted. Alfeodo is not a local in the common term, I believe and stand to be correctecd that he comes from the Riminni area of Italy where my sister still lives. The only possible deviation from this is that my brother in law met him as a fellow Italian in Sheffield roughly between the years of !966- 1968. When my brother inlaw was working as the head waiter at "The Royal VictoriaHotel" But I will confirm! Alfredo and Enzo ( my brother in law) have many may years of memories working n the U,K (GODS OWN LAND). please fre to comment more
  5. rightly pointed out Bushbaby. bumped into JB today at the barbers, haven't seen him for 2 or 3 years. we stopped and chatted about years past and what he got upto with the throwing arrows. Bladders will tell you more i'm sure. all the best
  6. heres anothe quick way, adjust to taste of couse. half a tin of fruit salad in a jug. (1ltr is jug best) half fill the jug with ice. pour in a good measure of red wine, not too cheap a make though. add a bit more. pour in a decent measure of Brandy, pour in the same amount of cointreau. (about a cup and a half to start with) give it a good mix. now fill up the jug with lemonade. (ageain decent stuff is better. TA da your ready for nice cool sangria.. Give 10 minutes and start again as you'll have drunk it all lol
  7. My wifes father worked at Gordon Tools. Jim Beaver. he was a stamper. he used to make spanner with the steam driven stamper. I'll ask if he rememebers your old man.
  8. Bush Baby. Apparentley, the "parson cross" name derived from the The route/path that the Parson of Ecclesfield church took when he visited his other churches he was responsable for. so for all intents and purposes. The area where the parson crossed became known as "Parson Cross"
  9. There was Mr Hall Geography in room 15 on the top floor. There was also Pete Evans in room 13. his wife was a teacher at Chap Comp. There was also a music teacher, Miss Shackelton I think but she got married and I can't think of her Married Name.
  10. In 2002 I veiwed the corner bungalow of salt box lane (The Traffic lights at Grenoside). The owner told me that an anti aircraft gun was located in what is now the front garden the cast base is apparently still there although covered by earth and gracc. The grass has a slightly orange hue to it as the cast iron has now rusted over the years.
  11. Hi Dean I work for Parcelforce and we used to collect from hendersons and deliver it around the world to Sheffield ex pats who needed the sheffield home comfort. If you give them a ring i'm sure they send you down an emergency load. Regards Ken
  12. Can anyonre remember the old guy (Noddy) that used to live on colley cresent. I was born in 62 and can remember him doddering down colley road with his stick. ( Ithink he ight have been blind or partially sited) We were all scared of him an used to call him names until we finally plucked up the courage to stand and talk to him. He was a strange simple old character- what happened to the characters like these? why do we only have psychos these days?

I see him from time to time and discuuss the old days when he was dancing with her. I still live on the cross and knock around with one of your old mates. Dave Baldwin ( rubberman ) I,ve told hoim about the site so look forward to seeing him on here. It's funny reading the stuff on here and the characters mentioned like MAy in the tavern. once her finger was in the pint pot you'd lost it!!! even if there was a mouthful left. look forward to hearing more of the old stuff I'll be back soon. watch out for Baldwin
