  1. War is BIG BUSINESS! always has been, always will. Frankly you've hit the nail on the head. It's always about power, power over land, power over wealth and power over people. I wouldn't attach to much credence to the religious reasons as there a secondary consideration to the individuals who are pulling the strings and a nice diversion from the real motive, which fundamentally is greed.
  2. Fear of flying is common but irrational, I can't think of a single injury cause by flying. Landing ..................................................... now that's the game changer!
  3. Will do Smithy so far it's me and thee! could be the smallest classic car display ever! But "oh the quality". :-)
  4. Big thanks to Smithy and Crossword for the replys!. I'll definitely be bringing the e30 and if some miracle happens the Spit! I think I've narrowed the non starting down to the condenser so I've got to try and pick one up next week. The news on the grapevine is that there's a load of "pants" condensers out there these days and they don't last two minutes!
  5. So I've been distracted for too long, what with the BMW and the Landrover defaulting as the 2nd and 3rd form of transport the poor old Spitfire has just been neglected and left to sit in the garage. The spare starter motor that I'd acquired has at last been fitted by me today and I'm now charging up the battery in the vain hope I can get the thing to fire up! For anybody who's ever attempted to get the starter off a Spit, the bottom nut and setscrew is a total swine to get to when the cars on the deck. It is therefore with a smug self satisfied clever smile on my face I can congratulate myself for getting my large hydraulic jack some years ago. Combined with a pair of ramps it was a joy to push the Spit up in the air, slide the ramps under the wheels and just get on with it in safety! Sometimes there's just no substitute for the right kit.
  6. Well were now about 4 weeks from the event and I could do with knowing how many spaces I need to allocate, mainly because It's a limited numbers event. So if anyone wants to spend a little time on a Saturday afternoon at a free informal community event............let me know!
  7. Hi everyone Just putting the feelers out to gauge interest. On the 11th July 2015 Our Lady of Lourdes Summer Fayre will be occurring! This year there's an opportunity for few classics to get involved and display,as you can imagine it's a popular family and community event that's relaxed, friendly and good fun. It's free, It's just an afternoon event 13.00 to 16.30 and it's local as it's in Hackenthorpe. It could be a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Ideal for any tombola Fans! An absolute must for any hook a duck fanatics! Because as car enthusiasts we all now how to live in the fast lane, don't we! If your interested let me know and thanks for taking the time to read this post.
  8. An early classic Range Rover, A Ferrari 456 or a nice Vantage. All practical and capable of bringing the shopping home from Lidl.
  9. Is not the imposition of critical thinking in itself indoctrination? This is not a new idea but one that's been debated for years.
  10. Err.....that's a bit knee jerk isn't it! Whatever happened to due process? I'd go ducking stool and then Rack!
  11. There's probably one or two out there that do! Although I've never come across devout Appleant ever ritually destroying a commodore 64 because it's the work of the heretics! ---------- Post added 26-02-2015 at 18:07 ---------- Your right to a point, theres been some serious civilisation's that have had their works destroyed by invading forces over the centuries, especially when the two cultures were fundamentally opposed to each others values and beliefs.
  12. Ahh........got you now! So there hypocrites as well then, glad we got that sorted!
  13. Clicked on the link for the whole of two seconds and then clicked off straight away! It was the thought of justifying these cretins with my time that did it! I think the Taliban did massive damage to some old temples and ancient places of worship in Afghanistan just because it didn't fit in with their narrow minded attitudes! That lot are on a slow time machine back to the middle ages!
  14. More like they've hooked into the fact that S12 and the surrounding area has serious spending potential!
  15. Edit: Places to avoid, in general: Pagehall, Parsons Cross (or - large parts of S5), Wincobank, Burngreave, Attercliffe, Darnall, Manor, Gleadless, Arbourthorne, area around London Road. Places to look at: Beauchief, Ranmoor, Nether Edge, Sharrow, Meersbrook, Crosspool, Millhouses. I'd add places like Walkley, Hillsborough, Stannington and Wadsley. When looking at the map keep in mind that Eclessall Road, Abbeydale Road and Holme Lane are huge bottlenecks at rush-hour as is the ringroad on the West (Hannover Way). The vast majority of Gleadless, Charnock, Frecheville and Intake, in general S12 as a whole, is perfectly OK with the advantage that it has great public transport, good housing with pleasant suburbs, parks, shops and pubs also decent schools..........and the houses are still affordable for families:) We and some of our neighbours have family in some of the more prestigious and "desirable" area's of the city and when you take a look at the traffic congestion heading that way at rush hour we realise how fortunate we are. After all, quality of life isn't dictated by the size of your mortgage!
  16. I thought this had been on the cards for a while! Personally I'd like to see a cinema back in that area.
  17. I'm sure there after a higher profile Roman target than the Trevi and the wonderful deli's near to it! They select malls and the like for strategic reasons that ensure maximum casualties, If you refer to Westgate and Mumbai the M.O's clear.
  18. I once did that in a VW.................."flamin wormholes" mind you! could've been a pothole:)
  19. A month's visit..................now that's more like it:)
  20. After Matt Malloys drive out of Westport down the coast road towards Louisburgh and go in Campbells for a Guinness before climbing Croagh Patrick:) At that point turn and look out over Clew Bay, out to the Atlantic Ocean, where the Gulf Stream runs and see the amount of Islands that lay out in front of you. At some point take the N17 down to Galway whilst listening to the Saw Doctors! and don't forget to picnic off Atlantic Drive or down in Connemara! Or simply enjoy the west coast beaches for their unrivaled beauty and solitude. Old Head is a beautiful crescent shaped beach that's awesome for walking the dog, I've had some of the happiest times of my life on this beach and few wedding anniversarys writing romantic stuff in the sand:hihi: Then there;s silver strand which at one point was once listed as one of the top five beaches in the world...........yes that's right, and it's just a twelve hour journey from Sheffield. Now I've got to sort out when we go back! Fire up the Land Rover!!
  21. Phew, that'll be one less outside the door queuing in the morning, any way must dash as I've a sleeping bag to prep, one wouldn't want to be late.
