  1. The difficulty in getting an appointment to see a GP really is disgusting. Having to jump through hoops to even get to [speak to a health care professional on the phone means that many people just give up and don't see anyone which can have serious implications OR they pitch up at A&E. You can't blame people for seeking help from anywhere when they are desperate for help and advice. As has already been said - it's not a new concept provides a very poor service imo. Pattricia - don't believe everything you read in the Daily Fail .
  2. As an answer to the OP - is our NHS safe ? In the hands of those who work within it most definitely yes. In the hands of this Government - most definitely NOT.
  3. I had a heavy cold 6 weeks ago and I'm still coughing post viral.
  4. St. James Retail Park is very accessible for many by foot - it's not exactly in the middle of nowhere. This is more to do with Christmas approaching and everyone deciding to do their Christmas shopping on the same few days before Christmas. On a regular day at any other time of the year the traffic around that area is acceptable with a little patience and good manners.
  5. NHS advice has been to get vaccinated against 'flu and yet still there are those who either can't be bothered or don't think it will happen to them. Flu is real and can be life threatening. At the very least it will make you feel very unwell and make you bedridden for days. There have been many cases of pneumonia related 'flu - these folk have needed admitting to hospital and a fair number haven't survived and not all of them elderly people. Get your jab !
  6. A slap on the wrists - that's all these boys were given really. It's disgusting that they have been sent to school to learn about diversity - laughable if it wasn't so tragic.
  7. I agree - there are too managers but we have had Matrons on the wards for many many years now ! Bureaucrats of the blue variety - certainly so. I think that happened in a care home. They were carers - not nurses. Matrons are alive and well in the NHS and have been for many years.
  8. Very well said. To accuse NHS frontline staff for NHS failings is short sighted and wrong. The problems stem from far far further up the political tree
  9. No it isn't. You really don't know what you're talking about mate.
  10. Oh dear - moan, moan, moan. Being so negative all the time can be such hard work. There some amazing old buildings in the city centre if you take the time to look above the shop facades. It is you my friend who can't see beyond the end of your nose. Merry Christmas
  11. Christmas is a Christian celebration. Those of other faiths may learn more about the Christian faith by studying and maybe singing Christmas Carols but the words shouldn't be changed.
  12. No one has suggested you made it up. The noise is obviously real to you. Tinnitus is real too - anyone who suffers from it will tell you.
  13. The best Christmas market I have visited was in Cologne. The market in Sheffield is far better than Manchester or Leeds imo.
  14. Can anyone else hear the buzzing noise ? It could be that you are suffering from tinnitus ? It might be wise to visit your GP to get checked out. Just a thought .
  15. Sheffield town centre is up and coming - beautiful buildings , lots of wonderful places to eat and drink and a great atmosphere. Those of you who think otherwise need to open your eyes and stop being so negative. By the way, I have visited Manchester Christmas market over several years and it really is awful - overpriced food and drink and full of tat and drunk people. Not very pleasant tbh.
  16. MRSA isn't found just in hospitals - it's to be found everywhere and is brought in by patients and relatives. Just as a heads up with regards to Norovirus - be aware of shopping trolley handles, escalator and staircase handrails and door handles. Not everyone washes their hands after using the toilet and Norovirus spreads very easily from person to person in these ways. Alcohol gels are of no use - soap and water are the best tools to reduce the risk. Also - cases of influenza are on the increase and hospitals are admitting more people with flu related pneumonia. Hospitals are now preparing for another surge over Christmas and into January. It's not too late to get your 'flu jab if you haven't had it already. Stay well guys.
  17. The so called 'risks' of the vaccination pale into insignificance when you consider the possible complications of measles. It's not just a rash - it can cause ear infection, laryngitis, pneumonia and croup, and at the extreme end of the complications (although rare) meningitis, encepahalitis, blindness and even death. Why would you put your child at risk of any of the above - however mild. Can anyone tell me ?
  18. They put on a good show every year - each star is sponsored by a local business. I see them in a morning around 6am on my way to work and they really cheer me up.
  19. Yes he should - absolutely - why ever not. He has admitted he did wrong, he has been tried and found not guilty. Everyone needs to move on - you included mate. It has all been said before - many, many times. Going round and round in circles isn't healthy for anyone.
  20. I'm sure we don't know - care to enlighten us ?
  21. No it doesn't need to be looked at again. Enough time, money and emotion has been spent on this terrible disaster. All the information is available for you to read. All avenues of discussion have been visited and visited again - many, many times. It really is time now to put all of this awfulness to bed. Time for the families of those poor folk who died to get on with their lives. Time for those who have been to hell and back with the justice system and the witch hunts to finally be able to get on with their lives. Time for everyone to never forget and always remember the lessons that have been learned.
  22. SCH hospital didn't want to be part of STH all those years ago. If they contributed in some way to the running of this very useful service then their staff could travel free too.
  23. I totally agree. It really is now time for all of this to be put to bed. Of course I feel nothing but sympathy for those who died but enough is enough now after all these years. Let them rest in peace now.
  24. Very small if you use the same one year on year.
  25. Pavements are for feet not wheels unless they are attached to a pram or wheelchair
