I served with the regiment 1953 to 1955 in Sudan and Egypt. Before moving from Sudan to Egypt I was sent on a detachment with the signal platoon to a place called Gebeit in the red sea hills. The thing that impressed me was that all the regiments that served in Sudan built their cap badges on the sides of the hill using different colored rocks and other materials. It's asking a lot but does anyone else remember.

I live in Pittsburgh.

I worked for Head Wrightsons Shefield and helped to commission the coal preparation plant at Silverwood. Early seventies.

I was there in the 40's. The teachers I remember were Miss Humphries (headmistress), Mr. Sims, Miss Yates and Miss Bacon.

Hi Texas, after 55 years, these are the names I remember. Pete Middleton, Barry Thompson, Pete Ashton, Barry Whitworth, Ray Hawley, Alan Lambert, Barry Silcock, Walt Postlethwaite, Bill Ollerenshaw and Paul Cutts. These names are not in any particular order and some of the faces are familiar but I can't remember their names. Are you on the photograph Texas?

Hi blackhill, I remember Mr. Brown but I don't remember who was manageress. It could have been a Mrs Smith. I worked as maintenance painter, working on the different laundries and dry cleaning shops. I worked with Ernie Smith (joiner) and Tony Hunt (painter).

I worked there from 1959 to 1963.

Does anyone remember the SYD Launderies on Bellhouse Rd. in the 50's/60's?

I went to Firshill between 1942 and 1946. Lived on Grimesthorpe Rd. and used to catch the tram on Burngreave Rd. The teachers I remember are Miss Yates and Miss Humphrey's the headmistress. I was also in Mr. Sims class and I seem to remember that he had just started there after coming out of the Service.

That brought back some memories. I worked at the Neepsend Gasworks 12 hrs/day, 7days/week for a year 1957/58 to save up enough to put a down payment on a house.

I too remember the annual camps with the 11th Pitsmoor, we used to travel on the back of a lorry on top of all the kit bags. We had a great time building rope bridges across the river as well as other activities. I also remember the weekend camps at Grenoside woods. I don't remember all the scoutmasters but Mr. Marshall and Mr. (Brer) Fox come to mind. A few names that I do remember are Leeson, Whitworth, Ashton, Middleton, Silcock, Hawley, Boyle, Postlethwaite, Ollenrenshaw et al
