  1. Wont it just be the standard Friday press conference before our weekends game?
  2. Were off to the Dam House to watch it (21 of us..). 3 bottles of Coors for a 5er, 4 pint pitcher for a tenner, serving all sorts of food aswell!
  3. Hi Guys, Me and a load of friends have organised an 11-a-side game for Saturday morning on the Astro pitch at Chaucer School and the ref we had planned to use has dropped out. Any qualified ref fancy running the game for us? We kick off at 10:30 and are willing to pay some cashola! Please reply here or pm me! Thanks
  4. I believe she is a member of the forum and has posted about the reopening of the club etc on here. I think the problems I have mentioned would be pretty obvious to the owner of such an establishment, not like it is little things that could be missed......
  5. Hi All, Just thought I would post a review of the re-opened Hillsborough snooker centre now that it has re-opened on Baxter Road at the bottom of foxhill. I have been going to the Snooker Centre on and off for years before it closed down, always friendly with Graham etc and spent many many hours skipping college and playing snooker down there! I saw an advert in Sixer saying that it had reopened so me and a few friends got a bit excited at the prospect of the club re-opening and decided to head on down there the other day to see what the craic was! We got there and there was 1 car in the car park and all the lights on the outside were off which we found a bit odd as was unsure it was open or not, we tried the door and it was open and the first lobby way was all redecorated in new wallpaper which was a positive sign, we pressed the bell for access (as we had done 100s of times before!) but the door was open, lovely jubbly! When we walked in, our first impression was nothing much had changed except there was loud music blaring throughout the entire club and the match table next to the entrance had been removed. The lady working behind the bar was friendly (and pretty) enough and told us she had taken over the club, took down some details, didnt push membership or anything of us and asked us which table we would like, as there was 4 of us, we decided to take 2 tables When we got up to the tables and started racking up, we noticed there was empty pint glasses and bottles on the chairs, floor etc which seemed odd given there was only one other table in play at the moment and wasnt really busy enough to not be tidy. We then noticed that the place was dirty beyond belief, there was a McDonalds food wrapper on the floor under our table, empty fag packets, half smoked cigarettes, wrappers and some kind of weird mould / dirt on the floor under the radiators. It looked like it hadn't had a hoover since it closed down back in 2012! We huffed a bit, presumed it had been a busy day but decided to play anyway, so went in search of cues, there are a number of cue racks around the club however these all seemed empty, we finally found pretty much ALL of the cues lent against a wall in a corner of the club near the fire escape steps, a few of the cues didn't have tips on and were just solid wood, luckily 2 of our group had brought their own cues so we just decided to play. The tables, they were an experience in themselves. They looked like they have never been cleaned also one table was filthy, someone had split a drink on it which had turned into a bit of a rough patch on the table completely effecting the balls, the side of the table had a few questionable stains on it making it sticky when you lent on it to take a shot and there were rips down the entire bottom rail and one in the middle of the table. The other table was not much better with a big rip/hole in the middle of the table and again, the table and surrounding areas were covered in litter and rubbish and the tables were in a poor condition. One of the red balls in our box of balls also had some kind of dried liquid on it which made it roll like a weeble when you hit it. In addition, there was also no free wifi or skysports that we could see, the fridges were completely empty except for a few bottles of cider and multipack pops as apparently the delivery was due any day and the draught pops were broken. I used to love this club, the tables used to be perfect and well looked after, the service was excellent and the atmosphere perfect for a snooker club where loud noise was frowned upon however this seems a long long way from the good old days. I appreciate the new owner giving it a bash and trying her best but it is a long long way from the excellent club that it used to be and its sad to see the club in such a state. I genuinely hope the new owner is able to turn it around and get the club back to what it used to be but for anybody wanting to play snooker, they have to understand that condition of the tables and atmosphere is far more important than cheap booze and free wifi. We checked a couple of other tables close by and it seems like most of them could do with some TLC. Needless to say we will not be returning in a hurry, Might go back in a few months to see if things have improved and I genuinely hope they have, North Sheffield is crying out for a proper snooker club especially with the world championships on the horizon! I dont want this to seem like a witch hunt or anything, just wanted to post my honest opinions of the club, Maybe other people have been and had a different experience from what us 4 had? I genuinely hope so!
  6. Everyone is always welcome on http://www.unitedite.co.uk BU posters or anyone with an interest in the blades! COYRAWW!
  7. Hi, Not sure if this has been covered in any other threads but my mum got a leaflet through her door (Lives on Hazelshaw Gardens, right next door) say that they are to be demolished. I havent seen her since she got the leaflet so dont know the full details but will speak to her soon and let you know
  8. I noticed this the other day aswell. I was in the shower and thought that my water smelt a little funny, seemed to go after a couple of minutes thoush :S I live in the City Centre.
  9. Another vote for sony here, I have an A200 and its amazing and fairly cheap if you are willing to shop around! The kit lens is as good as can be expected and the options on it are mindblowing, its a bit heavier than its Nikon and Canon rivals though but that is the only drawback
  10. Here is an AWESOME revenge tactic, go out at night, get drunk, then get your friends and/or relatives to throw stones and rocks at your ex's windows calling his new girlfriend a DELETED and other really mature expletives!!!! What you all think? :D
  11. aye! Thats the plan, we all finish work at 10pm, head up to players and stay there until 4am!!!! We are on the list already so its all good!
  12. ahhhh, Seems we have crossed wires, I finish work at 10pm, not am!
  13. hmmmmm, where to go between 10 and 12 then!!!!! Decisions, decisions!!!
  14. Opens at 12?! Is it not opening earlier? A mass group of us finish work at 10 so was going to head straight up there
  15. Thats what I thought!!! I thought it was odd!!!! Oh well, happy now
