  1. Yes, I opened this thread way back in 2003 and now run Pitsmoorians of the past on FB many people have met old friends on there and it has built up to 3.5k members. See you there if you have not already been Paul
  2. I thought I would bring this up to 2019 and wondered if Sheffield still have rides for Brompton users like myself. I have read this thread with interest and I find the Brommie gets me up the hills fine though I do have to pace them slower
  3. I have just read this old thread with interest but thought I would question the clearance date you give as 1959. I used to play in the old back to backs on Verdon Street in the 60s and around 1970/71 and remember the houses still there then although empty we used to collect our firewood from them for our bonfire where the school is now. I also remember a barbers shop on the end on Bramber Street I think because that is where I had my hair cut as a child
  4. If anyone has one would it be possible to see one working. I have been down to Evans cycles and seen one but I was baffled with the software side of it. .nothing new there for me but I want to but one if I can find someone knowledgeable about them
  5. Or my wife, who has never used a mobile, laptop or computer and has no intention of using them. We get the BT call a lot usually a Chinese Woman on the other side and I got a shouty bloke ring me saying not to use my car anymore as I was seen using my phone at the wheel. Obviously I'm smarter than they are because I told them politely to get lost but my wife was a bit more vulnerable good job I was there to educate her.
  6. If they call at my house they will get a free showing on facebook with there ugly mugs form my cctv
  7. Or perhaps they could ban motorists between 3 and 6pm so I can cycle home without getting choked on exhaust fumes with people who insist of causing traffic mayhem day in day out. Oh and yes I do drive
  8. Bank holiday Monday was everything but dull....did you get out of bed at all
  9. There's big money in being a comedian which tells me to book a good one will not be cheap. I saw a corking one over the weekend called Scotty Millar or Miller he has different routines for different ages. Worth googling him and checking him out.
  10. Yes I think i can run to the Sony rx10 mark 3. Looks a nice camera. Can you recommend a good photography club to get involved with or maybe a wildlife photography group. Mean while I will look at one of those cameras.
  11. Hi I'm looking to purchase a camera mainly for wildlife use as I have some spare time coming up due to partial retirement. I have looked on websites and I just get bamboozled with them and don't no where to start. I have very little experience in photography but would like to expand my experience as I go along. Well first port of call would be to get a "decent" camera but without paying silly money like 2k. I am looking up to 1k or less and looking for recommendations from you lot in the know. Thanks
  12. When you say toolmaker's do you mean the people that actually make the dyes that make the tool. The Toolmakers I know of made the dyes then were finished by the dye sinkers before putting them in the machine usually a dropper to shape the tools.
  13. I'm currently with British Gas and my contract is up end of March. I am not renewing it and would like to move elsewhere but not with the big 6. I hear a lot about small companies that people are with these days and one I can recall is Bulb. I have no idea about any of these smaller names and would hope that someone on here can enlighten me what is available and what the difference is between them and the rip off big 6
  14. Though I understand why runners wear headphones they are dangerous if running on roads. There fine for off road running as running and cycling can be a lonely existence .
  15. That is an old photo the road has been newly tarmac'd and new lines put on. All cyclist's use it as a cycle lane and cars also recognise it as a cycle lane although it has not been sign posted as one. Cycle lane or not it is safer to ride in it than on the other side of the line and many runners use it to for running to. The problem is the amount of crap that gets on it but it is surrounded by trees and branches fall off in storms. If it was cleaned now and again then it is a great cycle lane to use
  16. Are you sure about that..... I ride up there a lot and there is a cycle lane on both sides ---------- Post added 24-01-2018 at 17:58 ---------- I'm pretty sure the cycle lane is white and yes it is full of debri
  17. Runners do run on the road quite often though I'm not sure why but they usually run facing traffic coming towards them rather than behind them. Rivelin Valley road is another one they run on but that has a cycle lane. Pathments can actually be lethal when jogging I tripped on the one at Damflask a few months ago severely damaging my leg so in a way road running for me is a safer option
  18. You see Sunday as I see it in the past, very true and may I add listening to Family Favourites in the morning on the radio with Jimmy Clitheroe in the afternoon and the dreaded (now fondly remembered) Sing something simple
  19. Incorrect...Motorists would be the first to complain if you did that
  20. I understand that good cycle lights can be a little dazzling but I ride with blaze lights and don't really help my vision on the road if I point them downwards. If you see a cycle in front and he is bright then in my view it's done its job and you have seen me, however if you feel it's unsafe to pass him/her then don't pass until your sure. As for off road Isabell I have not rode my bike off road at night but then worrying about being hit with a car off road would not matter. The most important thing for me cycling at night is being seen by cars and the second is being able to see pot hole's ---------- Post added 25-11-2017 at 18:50 ---------- That is the law for motorised vehicles not bicycles
  21. I also had Scarlet fever as a child but interesting quote from the Doctor was I had Yellow fever, are these the same one. No mention of grates were mentioned as far as I remember
  22. Why would we point our lights to the ground that would be of no use to anyone. Bright lights are bright for a reason and that is to be seen by road users and not for my benefit to see where I'm going. Light's have no use as guiders on dark evening for us cyclist's there more for your benefit
  23. Tony Toms was not a player I believe he was the physio for the team and I think he was a bodyguard to some celebs...Please quote me if I'm wrong
