There's a jewellers at Crystal Peaks which buys gold. Whether they are open or not, I don't know. I would have thought so, as most of the other shops are. How about trying Meadowhall? Ps. Just googled it, it is open on Sunday's 10-4 and it is called F.Hinds, near the market entrance.

I would just use masking tape along both edges of the gap to be filled, and then apply the mastic with a lollipop stick or spoon handle.

I think I read somewhere that the tax is no longer transferable between owners, and that the new owners would have to tax the vehicle themselves. I don't know when this new law comes into effect, but might be worth checking the DVLA website. Aid that the case, let the new owner tax it.
