  1. Hi, RE: Last Catchment Area Change for High Schools in South-West Can anyone remember when the current school catchment areas and feeder primaries for the high-performing high schools in south-west/west Sheffield (Silverdale, High Storrs, Tapton, King Ed's etc) last changed? I'm trying to find out when the current catchments for those south-west schools, which extend into S2 and other central parts of the city were brought into force (and the circumstances e.g. response to government policy?). Can't find anything on the internet so it may well be 20 years ago or more. Grateful for your help.

  4. Hi, For anyone trying to lose or maintain a healthy weight I'd seriously recommend: MY FITNESS PAL - it's a FREE on-line site https://www.myfitnesspal.com/ You make friends, support, motivate and celebrate with each other, count your calories (easy!) using the on-line food list/database shared by members which doesn;t take long, and you get extra calories for any exercise you do inc. walking or preparing food/cleaning etc etc. It works it all out for you! There are people on there losing some SERIOUS weight eg 4 stone +, a lot of Americans as well as Brits, lots of new mums etc etc. also people w. dsabilities in wheelchairs or with mobility probs, young teens, older people... I just lost 20lbs post-baby and am now down to 10.5 stone - about my lowest ever adult weight!! It's free so if you've got easy on-line access why not give it a go if you are trying to lose? Good Luck!!! 8D https://www.myfitnesspal.com/
  5. Hi, I want to get a handle on weight management post- having a baby. Would anyone recommend a group in the Meersbrook/Heeley area (S.8.)? I already exercise quite a lot, which helps stop me from being huge, but need to get a handle on portion-control etc. I also have a really sweet-tooth! (Total sugar-cravings/addiction). Not much time to make food during the day due to 1 yr-old (but then, not much time to eat either!!). I thought I'd try a group to begin with. Does anyone go to WeightWatchers at St Paul's?? I'm really looking to change lifelong habits here. [No personal messages from local therapists please].
  6. There's plenty of room at the moment as it's not been running that long, so you can just turn up! No sorry no contact No..
  7. This just shows how, just like babies, Mums' experiences of breastfeeding are very individual and vary greatly. The mummy who just bought my electric breatspump bought it because she was having problems expressing by hand and has found the breastpump has helped enormously! Like anything (including breastfeeding), it takes a bit of getting used to and doesn;t work for everyone.

Tues/Weds: -Daily (weekdays) Meersbrook Park Pavillion (babies & Toddlers) £1.50, every weekday 'til August 5th, closed two weeks (Aug 8-19th), then re-opens. 9. I would def recommend the Medela Swing electric b'pump. (I don;t agree that a double-pump is best as you may have not fed the baby from one breast, also, I had much greater output from one than the other, they is often one more productive one). I've just sold mine and the person I sold it too is really happy with it (so were 2 of my ffriends). Check reviews on Mumsnet for recommendations.
  10. The aquaerobics postnatal class is on Friday early pm (around 1.15pm??) at King Edward VIII school. Look at it this way - you need to make sure you get enough down time and receovery time in order to have enough energy to continue being a good, energetic mum for them in the long-term. It is hard leaving the baby at first, but you get used to it. But it sounds like my husband has a better idea of caring for the baby than yours, to be honest. Take care, and GIVE yourself some time and pampering sessions!!
  11. Yeah I've got it stuck to the board. Never et time to ring during the day though!! - It's so full-on with the baby. Apparently Meersbrook Pk Pavillion is open for next couple of weeks.
  12. I did find that if I tried to do Zumba 3 x a week my breastmilk decreased, whereas if I did nothing for several days and ate a big bag of butterkist popcorn the night before I was gushing!! 2 kids under 5 (esp a baby) is a lot to handle on your own. Have you been going to mummy / baby groups where the 3 yr old can run around with others? Are you fully recovered from the birth do you think? (and crucially, how much sleep are you getting?/Are you eating properly?). I'm sure you're on top of all those things, but sleep deprivation can be quite exhausting too, as you need even more sleep for your body to recover after hard exercise. Also, I know at least two mums who had thyroid problems after giving birth - one was flg v tired all the time and found it hard to lose weight, so it might nbe worth discussing with your GP? Don;t beat yourself up! It's hard enough as it is eh? I get to the gym but only coz my husband's brill and has my 8-month old from when he gets home, and he'sour only child.
  13. Hi, I'm looking for Mum & Baby groups open over the next 6 weeks in S.8 & around. Anybody know of any? (I heard there is a place on Carter Knowle Road??). Please only post if you are sure as I wasted time going to St Oswalds on Bannerdale Rd this a.m.. Ta, Sue S.8.
  14. Hi, Can anyone help with suggestions/advice? OUr nearly 7 month old (breastfed 'til now) baby is still waking twice in the early hours (2 & 4am or 1ish, 3ish) then up at 5ish and although we are trying "The No-cry Sleep Solution" (book), we are getting DESPERATE for some sleep. We were giving him a late night "dream-feed" around 11.30pm to get him through 'til after 4am, but then he began to be so heavily asleep that he wasn't drinking much milk after being woken up, so we stopped that. We've tried adding baby rice to his last feed and "Goodnight" milk, neither worked. Currently my husband is trying to get him off to sleep in the early hours so that he doesn;t smell my breastmilk and cry for a feed, but that's not really working too well so far. Any thoughts? He's having 3 small meals a day (sometimes he eats better than others) + formula and a little breast in between, so he should be full. THanks in advance for any help!!
  15. Hi, We bought this to try but it didn;t work for our baby. Cost £7+ so if anyone wants it shout because we only used it once.
