  1. Was looking for a phone number for Matthewmans Peugeot in Rotherham, but it seems like they've disappeared from the face of t'Internet, including from peugeot.co.uk. Have they gone out of business?
  2. I'm prepared to offer 1% for a quarter of a snack.
  3. I would dearly love terragen.. if only I were any good at actually designing landscapes!
  4. Got it. Had to explicitly define an application rule for All Applications doing an "Allow All Out".
  5. And I've just realised it's even treating my custom Zone as the Internet!
  6. I expect it of ZoneAlarm.. but not of Comodo. I would *expect* it to do what I tell it to do.
  7. You would think that all you need to do to get COMODO to allow ALL outbound requests would be to specify a policy for Allow ALL IP Out. You would *think*. It's still constantly whinging about applications wanting to connect to the internet (it even bolds that itself(!)). Anyone know what magical buttons I need to press to get this thing to allow all outbound requests without prompting? I've already changed it from "Safe Mode" to "Custom Policy Mode".
  8. Thanks for the heads-up.. it's about time!
  9. Certainly worth considering, but not keen on running the network to the outside of the building. With non-IP cameras the cabling that goes outside only goes straight into the control box rather than straight into our internal network.
  10. If you're on W2 and you can't get somewhere, it won't be W2, it'll be teleworst. I've been ranting at them for ages to get a better upstream provider. Thankfully they at least have ask4(?) as a backup.
  11. Maybe they're converting their network to RS232 dumb terminals?
  12. The whole problem is that a valid business model is COMPLETELY different to having an business worth investing in. He has a valid business model because it's the same thing everyone else has been doing for years. He's just a PC vendor and he makes a little extra on each sale using the green angle and then uses the extra in the extra R&D required to run the business. Having said that, just what would you, as an investor, expect to get out of it? In the long term perhaps a sound investment, in the short term - absolutely bugger all. The Dragons would be financially better off leaving the money in the bank accruing interest. On the face of it, a proposal such as this would simply have the Dragons saying "I like it, but it's not really worth the investment for me. The Risk/Reward Ration isn't sweet enough". Mr Hopton, however, went in with the ludicrous idea that his company is worth five million quid. Which gets you nowhere and gives fuel to DragonFireâ„¢.
  13. For other viewing.. I'm having a word with Vision CCTV (http://www.visioncctv.co.uk/) tomorrow who are only a couple of roads away from where we are.. they look promising.
  14. Wouldn't you want the PSU and HDDs *above* the water system rather than below it?
  15. Does anyone have any good sources of information on DVR CCTV installations and installers in the area? Looking to put some information together regarding a replacement of our current CCTV system with a 4 channel / 4 camera networked DVR system.
  16. Is that IT?! You guys need some better stories! In my younger years (I can't believe I'm telling you this), I had a machine that wouldn't boot and I had assumed it was because of a slight pin-bending on the processor after it was ripped out of the socket. I had been trying to replace the heat-sink and the pentium thermal plate had turned to concrete and fused the sink and chip together and I didn't realise this and try to loosen them by warming it up first until after it was too late and the CPU had been ripped from the socket. So, I bought a brand new CPU to solve the problem. And after it arrived, I realised that the original CPU was actually fine. The problem was I had forgotten to plug in the P4 extra power cable.
  17. To be honest, there is only one way to sort things out, but it's just not going to happen for the reason posted above.. cash! The only way is to put more police cars on the road. A single experienced policeman's intuition is worth more than the work of every speed camera in the country. A speed camera will not check out a seriously suspicious vehicle. It will not stop a vehicle in an unroadworthy condition, it will not do anything that a good policeman would be doing to stop the dangers out on our streets. What it does is collect revenue for central government. That's it. (Oh, and actually make roads more dangerous by forcing people to watch their speedometers instead of the road and then make those who were speeding in the first place floor it again as soon as they're past the lens).
  18. craigmason - had you not considered that this entire thread has now been indexed by google? Teh internetz has you!
  19. You might note that I wasn't speeding and haven't been caught. Personally I have a 100% squeaky-clean licence and 5 years no claims. My problem is with fascist monitoring to arbitrary limits and I will do what is necessary to help the poor citizens of Sheffield from being taxed any further by the totalitarian government to whom we currently give ~50-60% of all our hard earned cash (i.e. They take a massive chunk before you get it and then take even more every time you spend it, and then find every way possible to get at the rest of it).
  20. Quick warning to all that at 18:10 today there was a speed camera van sat at a pelican crossing in Handsworth facing down the hill towards Woodhouse. I mention this because it's not been there for a LONG time and may well catch people out doing 33mph.
  21. I think the intended meaning was that it is against the law to allow of a person's historical activities to cloud your judgement in suitability for a job as you must decide solely on the candidate's current suitability for a role.
  22. No, we are about to move into GPO software deployment, but starting with Adobe Reader 9 and McAfee VirusScan. For the moment it was a "here's the installer, go nuts!".
  23. I've had it installed across our entire company and haven't heard one single complaint.. and these are not users known for their lack of complaints.
