we were thinking of Chelsea Park too, although after having done a recc. last night with the dog going up to Banner Cross and bac to Hunters Bar, we decided we might as well stand at the top of our own street (or the next one up), as we're only round the corner from the park. i'm in two minds - stay there or go down to the park, great atmosphere no doubt, but I think it will be heaving. (Too many trees blocking the view along Psalter Lane unless you want to risk the quarry, which I wouldnt advise). those apartments with the rooftop gardens would be an ideal spot.

The girl who killed my brother (and was eventually found guilty of manslaughter, but even that's a joke when you consider that she will be out in just over 4 years and able to drive again) tried every trick in the book to blame her upbringing for why she did what she did. There is no excuse for it - you get in a car with the intent of causing mischief, mayhem, misery and you derserve everything you get. Sadly, it's never enough for the families who lose their loved ones because of a stupid, senseless act.

Read all about it! idiot catches 120 bus.
katkin replied to Baron99's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
What makes this even more creepy is that the incident coincided with the recent BBC 1 Luther series, which featured a very nasty serial killer who also donned a mask and who murdered a woman on a bus. -
https://spacecentre.co.uk/blog-post/helen-sharman-britains-first-astronaut/ and should e had much more recognition. When Tim wotsisface wS all over the news a couple of years ago it was as if Helen had never been there first

that brown bin is way to big for us - and yes, the paper bin should be the bigger one, especially now the collections have reduced. Cant wait to have festering food waste sitting in a container for weeks on end, especially during the warmer months (sigh). We already compost what we can anyway, mixed in with the rabbit hay and waste, but there's only so much compost you can make use of in a tiny terraced back garden!

I won't entertain anyone trying to sell to me at the doorstep - the thieving scrotes at NPower sent someone some years ago who said they would deliver my energy services for cheaper and yes they did - but then they whopped the prices up to compensate for the fact that (guess what), theyd underestimated my monthly payment and the charge was more than my previous supplier. And separately (and we never got to the bottom of this), we had the supply of our electricity shifted to another supplier without our knowledge or permission - and neither of us had either looked into changing supplier or had a conversation with anyone about switching suppliers because we were very happy with the current provider... it was a nightmare getting it switched back again and the new supplier would not tell me who had changed us over - but they mustve provided a code of some sort to do so. All very suspicious.

You could try cutting through tin foil or sand paper that’s a trick to sharpen standard scissors, I’ve tried it with my old pinking shears too

Psalter Lane restriction on lorries
katkin replied to How Ark's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
... not all property on Psalter Lane fits that desciption, there are a good few terraced houses on there too with no garden, or front doors opening directly onto the pavement. Not saying Eccy Road diversion is the solution either, but Psalter Lane isnt all 'privileged persons living in big houses'. -
how's that not been picked up by Trading Standards?

Whitaker was great, there were too many new characters competing with the plot so something had to give. Only thing that grated (apart from some of the weak yorkshire accents) was when the character Grace supposed to be Sheffielder called Hathersage Hather-SAGE. Twice in the last week I've heard it pronounced that way by the BBC, lol Nice one with the sonic screwdriver though

New Retail Quarter in the City Centre
katkin replied to athorby's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I realise that, it's just sad that the present owners cant or wont do anything to protect and restore the building so that it could be used in some way. Appreciate that's going to be a major stumbling block, just a shame we havent yet found a solution. -
Sorry your partner was injured, but glad to hear she is back home recovering, hope she is OK.

just seen this http://www.scci.org.uk/2018/09/sheffields-new-york-times-square-opens-with-new-era-launch/?utm_source=Sheffield+Chamber+Contact+Database&utm_campaign=759f4f4526-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_09_19_09_23_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b3dba0d578-759f4f4526-295684945 ---------- Post added 19-09-2018 at 11:57 ---------- i thought it was a missed opportunity not making something of the Leadmill Bus Garage - its been empty since it was converted and wouldve made a great quirky independent market, maybe also something on the site next to the Midland Station? failing that, it would be good if the old Courts Building near Commercial Street could be saved and developed along those lines - linking in with the resto work taking place on the old Castle Market? Breaks my heart that we keep getting approval for ugly high rise student flats when we have so few old buildings being utilised. -
Ours is always crammed full of paper and card as well but the bottle and plastic box hardly ever gets full wouldve been more sensible to let us use the ugly brown big bin for paper. There ought to be a facility for disposing of polystyrene, whether we like it or not, we get stiffed with having the stuff.

I was enjoying cycling in to work 2-3 times a week over the summer - my route was so much quieter and (felt) safer. I'm not a confident road cyclist, so I'm dreading taking the bike now, even though I'm one of the lucky ones with a good bit of my journey covered by cycle paths... it's the bits where I come into contact with MVs...I reckon I'll be slipping the go-pro on next time.

"Big cat" sighting at Bolsterstone Long lane.
katkin replied to pearlt072's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Sadly they’re cropping up in rescue and yet they are advertised on gumtree and preloved for silly prices (at least £900 sometimes double that) but remember this happened with bengals they were pricey to start with but once every so called breeder started cashing in... and like bengals, Savannah’s can be a bit too much for your average cat lover. Servals and other wild cats are Lso being imported and sold (or bred).
