  1. Do you have anymore pics of the mastiff looks a bit like mine apart from pedro has white chest Although I was told mine one was full mastiff but the vet said he is crossed with a boxer. Can be seen on my blog link below. He is about 21 months old now. He is very placid. Good nature but loves to run off and ignore me when been shouted back. http://hammersue1sblog.blogspot.com/
  2. Rother valley, expect yesterday went to cleethorpes as you can go on the beach right past the pleasure island side. Near he caravans site. Its a lovely place for the dog to run and swim. Even when the tide is out there are some sea pools left and they are quite deep. He loves it. Not as often as I would like as its bit expensive just for a walk.. We also like to walk through endcliffe park through to forge dam.
  3. We always park at the back entrance as we live on that side I am not driving round just to pay lol. I walk my dog 2 or 3 times a week round there. In is a long stretch at times depending on the weather. If its windy is very bad near the water ski side. I would not pay £3 no way. Its becoming a nightmare with barbeques and picnics as some folk leave the rubbish about and large burns on the grass. If they charged at the back entrance then I would go elsewhere.
  4. Thanks Lotti for your support its really appreciated. If I can get a good quality padded one for pedro then things will be better I am sure. I do use a long loose lead. That is attatched to a short one just in case he sees fit to drag me and he walks quite nicely to heal until he sees what he thinks is a playmate. Cant blame him though as thats what dogs do. Just dont want anymore accidents.
  5. Thanks moonbird. As u can see he has plenty of muscle. I would not try the halti again tho i am not up to fighting with him. he is by far stronger than me and I am not a small woman. lol
  6. Hi medusa. I have tried a halti on pedro and he would not have it he struggled like hell untill he got it off. so I wont be using one of them. Willman :- the elastic one sounds rather a good idea. I will do a search online for one. I just wanna be safe is all and have a pleasant experience and not be doomed every day. Please see my blog and u will see pedro is not a so cute as all my friends say. makes me laugh. We love him so much but he will kill me if I dont sort it soon. I do have a few illnesses and am trying to get myself out and do this.please bare with me. Im sure we get sorted soon. My blog link: http://hammersue1sblog.blogspot.com/
  7. HI to all. Firstly strix. It isnt that I want a cheap harness. I asked the cheapest place to get one. some may sell good quality ones cheaper than another store and so that is why I was asking. I am not daft Lotti. I am having difficulty when my big lad pedro sees another dog however far away it is in the distance he practically pulls me without warning almost off my feetso that I am somewhat like a kite. Ano It may sound funny but believe me he is so powerful. He is a cross mastiff and boxer. I have got him to walk quite good on a lead but regardless of that when he decides to just yank me away without any warning I am in trouble. I have problems with me knees and also the fact that he is so strong and I am no longer a spring chicken and so I actually pulled a muscle in my arm a few weeks ago. I am not a weak person in fact rather strong but he beats me everytime. So without wanting to be dragged to the floor by pedro the strong man I would like to try a harness as I have read that they are better as they stop the pulling. I have a choke chain and dont think they are kind to a dog. Also it does not mke him stop even when its pulled to the max by him. I want to make things better for him and my own safety as well. Thanks for all comments me though as we all have different opinions on why use a collar or harness. I do think I have a need for one. so I will be looking round I will look at the places that was mentioned above. I want a pleasant walk not a struggle every time I walk out of my door with him. . I am dreading everyday if we will encounter any other people out walking there dogs, as to if I will get injured or not. My dog could also get injured if another dog became nasty or he may injure a dog although he is placid nature no one knows. I have already hurt my knee over a week back when I had pedro wanting to get to another dog and have a badly bruised knee inside the joint which is not getting better. So if a harness will help then that is a good thing. Not meaning a cheap harness as in the make or name I dont know any makes.
  8. need large dog harness.where the cheapest place in sheffield anyone
  9. well went to rother valley and never saw one jack russell that looked like it was alone.sorry. hope found his way home.
  10. Oh dear, mine is same sometimes he comes back when shouted and sometimes ignores me so I tend to keep him on the lead most the time now. I do hope the dog is reunited with him. poor thing must be awkward as he not known his new owner for long. Is he micro chipped ? . I will be going later today and would look out for the dog. I do hope it is found and safe and well. Keep us updated please woggle
  11. I wanted to add a picture here of pedro and how he is doing as I had a text from the original owner who I got him from and deleted it by mistake on new phone. damn. So I have no contact with them.. He has put on wieght and is very well. We love him so much he has become a happy family member. We went to endcliffe park through to forge dam yesterday and I lost his short leather lead while taking his picture as had put it on the seat forgot to pick it back up damn it. I have some nice photos tho of him now so if you read this get in contact I will then send some pics. Oh and just to let you know He isnt a mastiff as we had been lead to believe. He is crossed with a boxer as the vet mentioned when we had him micro chipped. Not that makes any difference to us. We value him for what he is a loving (big boy) as my grandaughter calls him. She is only 3 but gets on great with him.
  12. Put down lol If only we could do he same with asbo's. lol Please dont shout at me just having a laugh. It is a shame when pets are let down through no fault of there own.

  14. Due to a long family discussion we have decided that we can not let our dog go. We would miss him too much so he has been given the all clear and is staying as a family member. We have already had tears over him leaving so it will be best for us all. Sorry to dissapoint people that asked about him. The kids were devastated and so its now a happy home once more. phew. sorry guys. I just have to make sure he gets well groomed outdoors and I dont get too bad with my ashma. He is well loved

  17. Ok ladies heres a little help for you. please believe me this works. My eldest is 35 and had sore bottom a lot as had water infections. You take a jar of zinc and castor oil and add a small amount of friars balsom to it and stirr using a lolly stick. also use the stick to spread the cream on the sore area. Not a finger as it takes some washing off. It improves overnight I can swear to this as have 4 grown kids and 4 grandkids too. Having used it many times and would not use nothing else. So buy a small bottle friars balsam from a chemist and the zinc and castor oil. You will be happy with the results. it waterproofs the cream so is like water running off a ducks back. Far better than any other creams I have had and you can also keep adding more friars balsam and mixing in as the jar gets used up.
  18. i had to pay £50 each to change names of holiday which was may just gone. soit cost us £100 per couple that was with first choice.
  19. my dog is losing so much hair I cant keep on top of the cleaning up. I hoover sweep and mop. as soon as I have done its like I turn round and the hair s back.its so short and like tiny needles all over the place. The vet said to put some oil in his food has anyone else any other ideas. forget what oil it is. tried olive oil today see how it goes. I brush him as well as he had a bath last week. Its not his fault he is a good dog. just my ashma getting worse and the hayfever. any good tips. Looks like I got a rug in kitchen everytime I look.
