  1. I would urge everyone not to fill bags for collection at the door unless you don’t have the means to take them to the charity shop BUT speak to the collector and if they can’t speak English give them the elbow and nothing else.
  2. I lived near immigrants on Gleadless Valley, I couldn’t say if they were Albanians or if they were from Bulgaria but what I do know is that every morning at 06:30 two of the occupants of the house fifty yards from me, were picked up in a transit van and before they drove off rucksacks were filled with charity bags to put through peoples letter boxes , the van returned every afternoon BUT on a couple of days on its return around 10 to 15 black bags full of clothes were taken from the van into the house to be looked through, if they actually worked for a charity these bags would have been taken to a charity sorting unit, not not someone’s home. A couple of times a month bags full of clothes were dumped at the Maisonette communal bins, one morning I counted 20 full bags containing shoes and clothes along with hundreds of unopened charity bags, you should notice that the collectors of these bags are invariably Eastern European, now they don’t come here to work for a charity, I never accept any charity bags from these people, if anyone wants to contribute to any charity take your items to the many charity shops or set up a direct debit for a nominal sum.
  3. I get the Hank Williams song “ I Can’t Help It If I’m Still In Love With You “ in my head a couple of times a week and I don’t want to get rid of it.

  5. No it’s not, the money used to pay hotel bills could be used to pay some of these pay claims.
  6. What a load of rubbish, the wokes strike again.
  7. She’s now clutching at straws. She knew full well what she was doing when she left home.
  8. I didn’t think programming could get any worse , seems I was wrong.
  9. That’s a brilliant song as is Green Fields Of France.
  10. I go to one on Ravencarr Road Eckington, short back and sides.
  11. I do remember you could buy 5 Woodbines in an open top packet.
  12. Alexander Road, now I remember where the Myrtle was, I believe a couple new dwellings were built in its place.
  13. The makers of “ I Didn’t Know You Cared “ used locations of Sheffield in all the episodes, the now demolished Myrtle Inn on Myrtle Road, Chestermans building , I think a Sasparilla bar somewhere round Cemetery Road was also used for outside location. Stephen Rea who played Brandon went on to greater things, he starred in the film The Crying Game as an I.R.A. Gunman, John Comer brought Sid to life in Last Of The Summer Wine, running the cafe with Ivy, Liz Smith went on to many roles notably in the Royle Family, Robin Bailey gave a master class as Uncle Mort the belligerent old Yorkshire man, absolutely brilliant. I think the photo was taken around Broad Street Lane near the Durham Ox pub.
  14. I’m sorry for his family, but his performance in L.O.T.S.W. in my opinion spoilt the show.
  15. I wouldn’t stand selling poppies on Fargate, the best option would be down the Moor .
  16. It doesn’t matter if David Copperfield is fictional he’s accepted as a white Englishman and not an Asian.
  17. Wasn’t an Asian actor cast as David Copperfield not long ago? Could you imagine the furore if a white actor played Stevie Wonder or Sidney Pontier.
  18. I heard that a woman and her child were sleeping on the floor in one of the holding centres but correct me if I’m wrong but that’s how they sleep back in the Middle East, another snippet “ they are having to wash their own clothes” don’t we all, by hand or machine.
  19. We had to leave our home of fifty three years because of immigrants.
  20. I’ve had an Epsom A3 printer for over ten years now, I’ve bought Epsom cartridges once and since then I’ve always bought compatible cartridges and never had any trouble with either cartridges or printer apart from once having to re-install the printer.
  21. I worked with a plumber called Henry Memmot, Memmot is an old Heeley name, I was only looking at a Sheffield Directory of 1787 and there was a Memmot living in Heeley way back then. History is still alive and well living in Heeley.
