  1. Not sure if this has already been posted but I read with delight that she (Rebecca) has been sent down for 9 months for deception. Story is in this weeks Sheff Telegraph. About bl**dy time !!!!
  2. A quick google gives this http://www.whatcar.co.uk/car-review-readers.aspx?RT=312 77 owner reviews. That should be a good start
  3. I've just read "Here, There & Everywhere" by Geoff Emerick. If you want an insight into the recording of Revolver and Pepper then it's well worth a read. Never before (or since) have the boundaries been pushed so far. I agree with the comment about Tomorrow Never Knows - it's still light years ahead of its time.
  4. Ok - it's been a few years since I went to Meadowhall but I got dragged there today. I've got to say that the most impressive thing there was the hand dryers in the loos. What a great invention. If you've not seen them .... http://www.dyson.co.uk/range/feature_frame.asp?model=AB01-AIRBLADE&sinavtype=pagelink You put your hands in them and draw them out slowly. Your hands are dry in less then 10 seconds. No more hanging around for a minute then wiping your still wet hands on your trousers on the way out. Superb design that actually works. Mr Dyson, I take my hat off to you.
  5. An ad on Gumtree made me laugh - 5th June Mahogany Tripe Wardrobe http://sheffield.gumtree.com/sheffield/sheffield-tv-audio_2806_1.html Seriously though, a nice piece of furniture for free.
  6. I've got the Epson 3940, cost about £70 last year so probably cheaper now. Scans negatives, slides etc and makes a good job of it.
  7. The Beatles of course - not when they were famous though, but during their formative Hamburg days. The same with Pink Floyd - I've seen them live a couple of times (post Waters) but I would have loved to have been in the London scene circa '67. I went to the Marquee Club in London a few times back in the 80's - just walking through the foyer looking at the old set lists made me green with envy. Read this and weep ... http://www.themarqueeclub.net/1967
  8. Radio 4 For the comedy, science, news, current affairs, drama, book readings, arts, literature, history, lectures, interviews, documentaries, natural history and not forgetting the shipping forecast. Radio 2 & 3 - music Radio 5 - sport
  9. It only applies to music - that means that you can legally play Radio 4 all day. I'd love a job where I could listen to R4 all day long
  10. A couple spring to mind Life's been good - Joe Walsh Never let her slip away - Andrew Gold
  11. "Is there anywhere to go to look at old planes and stuff these days?" Loads of Air Museums to visit. Click on the links http://www.flyingzone.co.uk/airmuseums/museummap/museummap.htm
  12. I was up at the Llama farm in Ringinglow last week and they had a sign saying that they were introducing Pony rides shortly. http://www.mayfieldalpacas.com/ Look in the diary section
  13. I saw it this afternoon coming in low over the Parkway, quite a sight. I was on my way back from a horse carriage event at Thoresby where a couple of planes were doing some stunt flying, rolls & loops etc. Not sure if there was an airshow nearby or whether they were practising but it looked pretty impressive.
  14. Is it about revenue or safety ? Listen to this before you decide .... http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/theinvestigation/pip/pjj5d/
  15. Count Arthur Strong - Radio 4 comedy I came across this by accident this week - it's hilarious. Anyone else catch it ? Radio 4 Wednesday 11:30am.
  16. Just seen a clip from next Sunday's show - they've remodelled a Reliant Robin into the shape of the Space Shuttle and strapped it on to the side of a rocket. Looks like being a classic series
  17. I still miss "International Paint Drying" from Sky Sports 53
  18. Why do people deal with the estate agents anyway. When we bought 3 years ago the only time I contacted the EA was on moving day when I asked where we pick up the keys. They only contacted me once to confirm we had the funds to buy the house. Freeze out the EA. Deal and negotiate with the vendors. They're probably nice people who just want to sell and move on. If not, walk away.
  19. Not many ladies on this post, are there. Why is it such a man thing ? Anyway .... Linn Sondek LP12/ Akito / Lingo Naim pre/power amp Linn Keilidh speakers Marantz CD Denon tuner Sony minidisc Yamaha cassette deck Audio Technica headphones The thing that got me into hi-fi was a trip to Abbey Road studios in the early 80's. Abbey Rd opened its doors for a couple of weeks, hosting a Beatles presentation, playing stuff through monitor speakers in the actual studio they recorded on. Completely blew me away. Went out and bought a Rega 3 / Creek / Kef Coda set up then moved on from there.
  20. Worth every penny. Long live the Beeb.
  21. Audio diary repeated. Radio 4 - Fri 12th 9:00am http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/pip/gbktk/
  22. You could always buy a usb card reader and get the photos off that way. Dead cheap - like this one at £3.99 http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=100315
  23. My sis has a 42" plasma from Bush - which has a crap picture I have a 42" Panasonic plasma - which is superb. Whichever you go for, be it LCD or plasma, the brand is more important than the format.
