  3. Hello Folks, Just wanted to let you know about an event we are organising called Rockin' Against Cancer. We were inspired to set this up following the loss of my Uncle, Sam Kenney who was a great keys player and played in local band Bad Whiskey. We decided what better way to pay tribute to a great man and also raise a whole ton of money for the great charities that helped him than to put on a charity concert! We now have a venue and a date so the time has come to start promoting this and try to turn this into a really huge success and raise a whole ton of money for good causes. All proceeds from the night will be split 50/50 between Weston Park Cancer Charity and St Luke's Hospice. the night will be held at The Scholar on London Road who have very kindly donated their pub for the night for free so huge thanks to them! We have two great bands on: Pretend Best Friend (my new PowerPop band) Bad Whiskey (Sam's band featuring some special guests) Plus other special guests to be announced... Doors are at 8pm and the music will run to midnight Entrance is £5 and their will be a raffle, food and other events on over the course of the evening with all proceeds being donated to the good causes. So, why not come down if you have been touched by cancer or just want to give something back or even if you just want a good rockin' night. Let's make this a night to remember! We have a facebook event set up, so why not take a look and let us know you are coming: https://www.facebook.com/events/247716692042553/?ref=22 Hope to see you there!!! James ---------- Post added 16-10-2013 at 19:40 ---------- We now have even more great stuff confirmed: Excellent acoustic support band from Derby Exclusive event T-Shirts Cupcakes ...and much, much more. So please come along and show your support!
  4. Hi All, I am looking to put on a charity gig for Weston Park in aid of my uncle who recently passed away. He played in bands all his life so this seems like a fitting tribute and a good way to raise funds for a good cause. I am trying to find a venue / function room where we can charge on the door to raise a bit of money that is close to the city centre so people can get to it easily and that is available on Saturday 30th November. If you have a place and may be able to help, please could you give me a call on 07968 228 338 ASAP. Thanks! JJ
  5. Conversation will be interviewed by Paul Gregory on "Sheffield Live! 93.2fm" this Tuesday between 12:00 and 13:00 to help promote the event. Have a listen!!! http://www.sheffieldlive.org
  6. Just a couple of weeks to go folks! Look out for the bands appearing at Jam Nights / Sessions around town armed with flyers promising discounts!!!
  7. Steel City Synthpop 2!!! Following on from huge success of the launch of Steel City Synthpop back in March, we have decided to organise another unique event of Synth-based madness! This night remains the only live Synthpop event in the whole of Sheffield - the home of all things synth. Again, the event will be held at the fabulously intimate Grapes on Trippet Lane and we are hoping for a sell out, building on the incredible response to our first event. We are pleased to announce that the following acts will be making an appearance: "Peachy!" (http://www.myspace.com/peachy1969) are a superb local electro-acoustic band. The band consists of Sarah Peach on lead vocals (occasional guitar) Crash (guitars) and Ant Hutchinson (keyboards). Mixing both retro and contemporary with their own original material, and taking time out from recording new tracks, Peachy's return to the stage is long overdue. Travelling all the way from Hastings/London, "Vile Electrodes" (http://www.myspace.com/vileelectrodes) are a three piece electro band who describe themselves as... "Beautiful noise. High heels on thin ice. Whip cracks on latex. Flickering neon signs. Car crashes on concrete overpasses. Long lashes behind dark glasses." The band line up consists of Anais Neon, Loz Tronic and Martin Swan. After performing at West Street Live on 2nd September, Sheffield welcome their return and prepare to be dazzled once more. Finally, the night's headliners are "Conversation". (http://www.myspace.com/conversationonline) This homegrown two piece Synthpop band have been causing havoc on the Sheffield scene for the last 9 months. With catchy melodies and powerful vocals injecting life and soul into synthetic beats, basslines and bleeps, expect the unexpected! PLUS: Unconfirmed special guest appearances…watch this space!!! Doors are at 8pm. Entry is £4, £3 with a flyer.
