  1. Have you considered the possibility that this nice 85 year old man may not be completely in possession of his faculties ? As for choosing a bunch of guys to rule them who aren't a good representation of the country, I agree. I've wanted a different voting system since I started voting, even on those rare occasions where I voted for the winner I recognised that the current system is inherently unfair, there hasn't been a government for a very long time that was elected by a majority of the total electorate, I can't remember the last time that happened, or if it ever did.
  2. The moment life evolved in the primordial ooze ... taking a large bottle of bleach with me
  3. Mod Note http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/local/police-reveal-name-of-man-who-died-in-fatal-sheffield-road-smash-1-7319919 The original thread has been removed out of respect for the family. If you wish to offer your condolences please do so. If you have information please contact South Yorkshire Police.
  4. Mod Note Off topic posts have been removed along with all reference to them. Kindly discuss the topic
  5. Sorry that's incorrect, here's a link to all the Bills before Parliament for 2015-2016 all the ones with [HL] on the end started in the Lords Which from a very quick skim seems to have about 52 Bills before parliament and about 46 of those were initiated by the Lords.
  6. Mod Note Speculating on whether a particular user is someone who's re registered is off topic and also falls under the umbrella of discussing moderation, either of which are grounds for having your account suspended. So kindly cease and desist with such speculation. If you have grounds to suspect a particular user is someone who has re registered then report one of their posts and tell us who you think it is and we'll have a look at them. Please note this does not mean they'll be automatically suspended, it means we'll check them out. If we can't find any evidence to support your suspicion then we'll leave them alone and we expect you to do the same.
  7. No they're not Correct No your immune system detects the infection before it becomes serious and deals with it, you still get infected, you are still ill, just not seriously so It's not even considered a possibility in science fiction, they are random events, you cannot predict or control them.
  8. No they aren't Yes you can only if you kill it before you're infected, otherwise you're just managing symptoms, if you are infected then by definition you are ill correct No you won't this isn't even a theoretical possibility.
  9. Mod Note Xenophobic comments removed along with all reference to them. And before anyone complains about freedom of speech, please remember this is a private forum
  10. This one Do you need any further clarification ?
  11. Then I suggest you buy a dictionary and look up the definition of the word "Random" Ionising radiation is present in the everyday environment there is no way of avoiding it, stating that "it will be possible to stop random ionisation causing DNA damage" is rubbish. One day it may be possible to repair the damage, but you'll never stop it happening

  13. People will buy shares because they believe they can make money out of it Why does the Government not believe it can make money by keeping it ? Or is this just going to be an asset stripping exercise ?
  14. alternageek said earlier Ok, lets try a different tack A man and a woman walk down the road holding hands, at the end of the road one waits for a bus and the other walks off, they kiss & exchange discreet endearments as they part A man and a man walk down the road holding hands, at the end of the road one waits for a bus and the other walks off, they kiss & exchange discreet endearments as they part A woman and a woman walk down the road holding hands, at the end of the road one waits for a bus and the other walks off, they kiss & exchange discreet endearments as they part There's no other information to be had. I personally see nothing wrong with any of these scenarios, if you do then please tell us exactly what is wrong.
  15. I did read it, you're the one who started a paragraph with LGBTQA people and finished with ISIS. That's a weird segue.
  16. Yes. I would replace 'designed' with 'evolved' however even then homosexuality is has been observed in every species we've looked at.
  17. This doesn't just apply to LGBTQIA people, not every straight person is a saint ---------- Post added 02-06-2015 at 16:15 ---------- I'm sorry are you seriously trying to link LGBTQIA people and ISIS ? I think we need another term, like a "Godwin" for this
  18. LBGQTIA people make valuable contributions to society, when they are not constrained by prejudice. Your gender and sexuality do not affect your ability or talent, however prejudice from other people certainly does. So by not accepting diversity this contribution is discarded.
  19. I'd say there's still a way to go, especially when there are petitions like this one https://go.allout.org/en/a/judge-scandal/ Full story here - http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/05/20/argentine-judges-dismiss-rape-of-6-year-old-because-child-is-gay.html OK that's Argentina and not the UK, but not long ago we had members of political parties saying gay marriage caused floods, there are people on this very forum who are vehemently anti gay and have expressed the opinion that homosexuality is a perversion quite recently. So until LGBTQIA people stop being treated as second class citizens, I'd say there's still a ways to go. If the question "are we there yet" is still being asked, then we're not. It's not a case of giving LGBTQIA people extra rights, it's a case of giving them the same rights as everyone else and ensuring those rights are respected by everyone because not everyone will respect them voluntarily. There are centuries of prejudice to be overcome and until no one is bothered by someone elses gender or sexuality, then the journey is not complete. So the fact that you are asking this question at all, the fact that you are bothered by it, means that LGBTQIA people can't stop fighting for their rights.
  20. Mod Note I notice that there has already been some name calling in this thread. That stops now. You want to discuss this topic ? fine discuss it without the insults. There won't be any more warnings, we'll just be banning people who ignore this one as well as removing their posts.
  21. Mod Note Posts removed for offensive language, please discuss the issue in a civil manner.
  22. Mod Note Posts removed for insults & offensive language along with all references to them. This is what's left, if you don't like it then don't use insulting terms. There are two threads pinned to the top of this forum telling you what will happen if this sort of behaviour continues, do you seriously want the football section closed ?
  23. If you look carefully at the article referred to you may notice paragraph three It would appear that the Australian Government got the idea from existing UK legislation. The third paragraph, third ! Did people get tired reading after the second paragraph ? Or did the first two paragraphs tell you people everything you needed to know ? Because manifestly they don't.
  24. Well in that case the UK is misinformed. The Supreme Court has the final say in the UK and UK courts only have to take into account rulings from the ECHR they can ignore them if they wish. All this rubbish about us being dictated to by Brussells is precisely that, rubbish. There is no problem identified by those who want the repeal of the Human Rights Act that requires the repeal of the act to solve. Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 Section 60 subsection 9(a) http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1999/33/section/60 This gives the Home Secretary the ability to strip someone of their citizenship. The Independent Thursday 28 February 2013 http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/british-terror-suspects-quietly-stripped-of-citizenship-then-killed-by-drones-8513858.html That was 16 people stripped of UK citizenship by February 2013, it's now May 2015 I doubt any of them got their passports back and it's likely a few more have been stripped too. So before demanding that we need the ability to strip people of their citizenship and complaining loudly that the EU & ECHR are stopping us from doing it, it might be an idea to check that we actually don't already have the ability to strip people of their citizenship and have already done so on numerous occasions.
