  1. My first was a Hillman Super Minx estate, BRB 286B. Cost me £45-00.
  2. Miss Rathbone, Miss Wright, Mrs Billam, Miss Chapman/ Mr French, Miss Worger, Miss Roe and Mr Morris were my teachers at Norton County. Mr Morris was moved on after I left for being too handy with the stool ball bat among other things.
  3. Take a look at the zinzeer range of primers.
  4. As I remember they were excellent. Nick Lowe was a founder member and is still doing the rounds.
  5. I remember seeing this band. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brinsley_Schwarz
  6. I counted 11 in Graves Park just after New Year. They were feeding in a yew tree adjacent to the top pond.
  7. If you like curry I can recommend Café Indus on the corner of Sharrow Lane and London Road. BYO booze is an added bonus.
  8. https://www-bbc-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-derbyshire-50855343?amp_js_v=a2&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQCKAE%3D#aoh=15794340199752&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From %1%24s Bloody foxes getting in the way of a scent trail...
  9. The Mrs was in town yesterday and spotted a bus going to MannerTop😁
  10. Went in on Thursday 12th. The place seemed to be ok. Pool table, 2 poker tables and 3 TV's seemed to keep the younger end happy. I can't comment on the food as no one had any, although there was some chuntering about the price of the beer, moonshine and Guinness were £3-90/pint.
  11. Coming out of the city hall last night, I was approached by a man who was clearly a druggie. I said," no thanks" before he had time to speak. "I was only asking for the time", he said. When I pointed out the town hall clock he got very aggressive and told me to "eff off." I walked away and hopefully he didn't herangue any one else. Are beggars getting more aggressive?
  12. If the owners of grouse moors stopped draining the blanket bogs and halted burning of the heather, maybe less water would flow into the rivers.
  13. There's nothing on the SBSG website or on birdguides to suggest that there's a GG shrike in Totley. I'll have a look later, as they might be a bit slow on the report.
  14. Has anyone been in of late? Thinking of having a meet up with some old friends in early December. Also, do they serve good ales?
  15. Just been on the Star online, where it's reporting on the flooded roads. It's says that Woodseats Road is flooded and it shows a picture of Chesterfield Road at the bottom of Cobnar Road. They can't even get the road names correct.
  16. You are banned from having a bonfire on all Sheffield allotments between the end of May to the end of September. This has been a godsend. I live near some plots, with some of the plot holders having pyromaniac tendencies. They had no thoughts for local residents, especially in summer when people have washing out and windows open.
  17. There was another crane driver called Dermo, due to his dermatitis. The steel works could be cruel places.
  18. There was a welder at Firth Brown's nicknamed Teflon. You can guess why. There was also a crane driver called Polaroid, as in the camera Polaroid Swinger.
  19. If they're high flying they're usually pink footed geese, commuting between Morecambe Bay and the Wash.
  20. My mate's Mrs ran over a dog when she was doing the reverse turn...she failed. Another acquaintance, who'd been banned from driving took a test for someone else, so he could have their licence. He failed and has never lived it down.
  21. Right, we'll call the hammer Maxwell and make it out of silver:-)
  22. A quick answer is ;don't climb the ladders, keep your children under control and don't go too close to the edge. Or is that too much like common sense?
