  1. Thanks everyone, loads of suggestions! I'll give em a try and see what happens. Don't think it's kids but you never know I suppose!
  2. Hi, hoping someone can help with some advice or at least point me in the right direction. In the last month the driver side rear tyre on my 2007 Honda Civic is deflating about very two weeks. Pumping it up works fine, and then 2-3 weeks later it's gone down again. This has happened three times now. I've taken it to Kwik Fit and Noyland Rhodes on Broadfield Road and both have inspected the tyre, valve and wheel itself and can't locate a problem. Does anyone know of any tyre specialist garages in Sheffield, preferably in S11 / S8 area, that might be able to help? Thanks!
  3. Anyone know how long you're allowed to park at The Gym? I know some city centre gyms at hotels let you park all day as part of the fee.
  4. Yes, I re-tuned this morning and now BBC One, Two and Three have completely disappeared from my Freeview line-up. Plus, and it can't just be coincidence, the connection I have from my Sky Box downstairs to my upstairs TV went fuzzy overnight. It's tuned in to an analogue channel on the upstairs TV, so I retuned my analgue channels too, and it hasn't improved anything. Havoc is the word alright!
  5. Yeah, me and the missus were there in the next block along.... about 15 seats away. We were wondering what was going on, could hear people talking loudly and noticed security coming and having words with various people. Couldn't tell who was to blame but someone must have been acting like an absolute clown to start a fight at a comedy night. Absolute morons. Didn't spoil my enjoyment though - cracking show
  6. That happened to me in, of all places, the foyer of the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas. There were the wife and I pondering which direction we needed to take to find the lifts, when a little old Chinese lady wandered over seeming slightly agitated and speaking to us in barely understandable broken English. As we literally didn't have a clue what she wanted she proceeded to act it out by squatting and actually making the "pssssss" sound. Somehow we managed to keep the laughter in until she was out of earshot, bless her.
  7. As I was walking past Ponsford at about 6.30 this evening Simon Cowell drove past me in the back of a brand new chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce - I guess this thread explains why!
  8. Thanks for the feedback folks. It's interesting that a couple of you have suggested you don't have to be christened in order to be a godparent - I was told different but it sounds like something I really should confirm! Perhaps talking to the minister at the church in question might be the best place to start. For the record, neither myself nor the parents see the role of godparent as being necessarily religious - more just an expression that it's my responsibility to assist in the child's upbringing by offering support, guidance, being a good role model, etc. Hopefully that doesn't appear too hypocritical!
  9. Hi - I'm looking for some advice on being christened as an adult. I've been asked to be a godparent and I understand you have to have been christened yourself in order to do this - however, I never was. I'm not particularly religious myself but I do respect it, and I also want to undertake my godparenting duties properly and seriously. Therefore I am looking into what is involved in me being christened now, as an adult. Does anyone have any experience of this, or know what might be involved? I guess different churches will have different rules. I've left messages with St James' at Norton as that is where I got married but they haven't got back to me. If not there, then a church local to me at Woodseats would be ok I guess. Searching on the internet for more info hasn't helped me much either so I'm hoping there are some good folk out there that can help me out with some advice! Ta very much.
  10. If the groups finish as they are, England are due to play Germany in the second round. NEVER, in the history of the World Cup, have the hosts failed to make it to the quarter-final, so England would be making history if they knocked the Germans out. With such a weight of history against us I suggest we keep our fingers - and everything else - crossed we don't meet Germany in the next round! Just a (sobering) thought.
  11. Thanks one and all for the pointers - especially you Ken If I dare to add my two-penneth to the 'football supporters in Barcelona' debate - of course I wouldn't normally go to Barcelona and then proceed to sit in a bar and watch TV, but this is an England World Cup match after all. As for me and my chums being too vocal, all I meant was that we would hardly want to sit quietly on our hands while witnessing England knocking out the Germans - for example. And as somebody else suggested, I hardly think the good people of Barcelona are going to be anti-football/football supporters in any way. It'd be like the people of Dublin being anti-Guinness drinking. I'm sure we'll have a great time and manage to not get arrested or upset the locals
  12. Howdy. Me and my friends are going for a long weekend in Barcelona towards the end of the month and - assuming England qualify from their World Cup group - we will be over there for their first knockout match. Can anyone recommend a bar in Barcelona that might be showing the game and, preferably, one that will be friendly to a respectable-but-vocal gaggle of English football supporters? It's my first visit to Barca so I'm something of a novice. I'm sure someone will be able to help! Thank you
  13. Hmmm, sounds like a bit of a pain but thanks for your help guys - I'll give it a go
