  1. my girlfriend is going with her mate Dave - he is going purely to try and look up their skirts, the perv
  2. Wow!! Think of all the red snappers you could buy with all that cash
  3. You'd think that lessons would have been learned after the "eggbox" offices!!
  4. Not strong enough sometimes!! Sometimes 'loathe' and 'despise' aren't even strong enough!! *reaches for Prozac and head massager*
  5. Also, the way people say "give over" i.e. "geeeyoooooor"
  6. Castle Market - easy to avoid though, so I dont lose any sleep over it!!
  7. Maybe they should get the army to police the streets in future!! I'm joking, but only half-joking.....
  8. I dont think anyone was really suggesting that...but out of interest, if a group of kids started shouting abuse at you and then started punching you - what would be your reaction? Instead of making glib remarks, try thinking about the reality of being a victim. Being from one of the "posher ends of town", maybe you find it difficult to empathise with people who have to actually deal with these situations as opposed to just forming your opinions from the safety of your armchair as you peruse The Guardian.
  9. Also, there may be private collectors who keep their own archives eg local historians etc. It might be worth putting a classified ad in the Star and someone may be able to photocopy or transcribe any articles that appeared in the paper.
  10. What about the Register office at Sheffield Council? They will have details of all Births, Marriages & Deaths. I'm not sure what the deal is with accessing the info though Sorry to hear about your bad news aswell
  11. Well, to answer all of these points: Yes of course the Police abuse their power at times, but what do you suggest - get rid of them? If someone attacked you or burgled your house, who would you call? the Police, or someone in the local criminal fraternity to "sort it" for you? People always slate the Police up until the point where THEY need them. Of course solicitors are there for their own interests, but what I'm saying is that the whole process of trying to find ways of getting them off the hook essentially just adds to the criminals "education". So many criminals are extremely well versed when it comes to their "rights" due to countless encounters with the law courts. Its unavoidable I know, because they have a right to a defence, but it does exacerbate the situation at the same time. Reports are one thing, but I dont have a huge amount of faith in them because who can REALLY vouch for their accuracy? Its reported crime for a start - how many people are too scared to "grass" because of potential repercussions? If your spouse/parent/loved one was kicked half to death for no reason, I dont think a Government report would be much of a consolation.
  12. Good point - the liberal approach looks great on paper, but I think we all know by now that it just doesnt work. Unfortunately, it seems that in some cases you have to fight fire with fire. Hypocritical? Yes probably, but hypocrisy is easier to stomach then some of the crimes that we're hearing about on such a regular basis. Most of these morons are not prepared to take responsibility for their actions and have the nerve to start playing the victim when taken to task, and are indulged by their solicitors and the human rights brigade. If the situation worsens and people feel more and more unsafe then we might get to the stage where perfectly innocent people start to consider carrying a weapon themselves because they are so scared and feel unprotected by the law.
  13. Rape, child abuse, domestic violence etc seem to be pretty much commonplace in our society aswell....so presumably thats ok, as long as everyones doing it? It strikes me that this kind of selfish, misguided faux-liberalism is pretty rife too - as somebody else pointed out, its basically just apathy dressed up as reason. If one of these little cherubs started giving YOU some grief BasilRathbon, I think you would hastily re-think your attitude.
  14. is that true wysiwyg? thats hilarious hahaaaahaa
  15. wasn't DJ Parrot part of Sweet Exorcist who did "Testone"? Aaah...the heady days of bleeps & bass!! Makes me all nostalgic....
