  1. Are Homebase still around? I can see them disappearing soon. Dreadful store.
  2. I don't like people knocking on the door and asking if I've heard about "Save the children?" Yes, I have, but no I am not being guilt tripped into giving money as I am standing on my own doorstep. I explained that I donated money to where I know there is no skimming off the top, which is an animal rescue on the island of Kefalonia. She then said, "Don't you care about our children then?" I then asked her if she could tell me how much her Chairman of Save the Children earns a year? To which, she shuffled off mumbling ... ---------- Post added 27-11-2014 at 16:23 ---------- P.S. My charity is getting nothing from me this year as I'm skint!
  3. Oh, puzzled a bit. Thought that lilaclover was commenting on the Blue Badge that you use for accessible parking?
  4. Never heard of this before? Sorry I can't help ... Can anyone?
  5. Watched it in February with Radio 6 Music ... watched it last night on DVD . I defy anyone who was into Northern Soul in the 70's to not see a character in the film that they didn't 'know' ... hit the spot totally. Yeah a bit corny in places, but you can't possibly cover such a scene in so short a time and without it getting incredibly boring for some people. On at The Showroom I believe. (Or was)
  6. Well, I was feeling pretty rubbish, but this thread has cheered me up no end. Hard luck me love .. I'm completely against people parking where they shouldn't!
  7. People will be blockading themselves in their houses soon .. well, if they haven't started already.
  8. That's pretty disgusting. Was the main assessment place in Doncaster you are talking about?
  9. I'm just glad we have finally found a rabbit savvy vet (Alfreton Park Vets in Alfreton, Derbyshire) .. they gave him a little gas to sedate him so they could put the catheter into his ear so I could hold him and he could die in my arms.
  10. We made the decision to have him put to sleep as by the afternoon his guts were contorting and he was obviously in agony. My little strong fella Was a fighter though .l I know it was th right thing to do but we feel so guilty
  11. I guess I was lucky .. I spent the night before Benji was freed from his pain with him in my special bed with the electric blanket on to keep him warm. It was a beautiful starry night and I told him how lovely it was ... and gently stroked him and told him how much he was loved. As the dawn broke, I opened the window and we listened to the birds sing for him, one last time. As the sun shone into the room, I lay him with his head in the sunshine. We snuggled him up and took him outside and he and his bonded mate, Luna, spent time in their special place together in the sunshine. He was very ill ... I knew that. I held him in my arms as he passed .. and with two little twitches of the nose, as though to say goodbye to myself and Hollie, my daughter who was with me, he left the pain behind. I know it was the best thing to do, but God Forgive Me..
  12. Good news .. my letter came today just under 4 weeks from my face to face.
  13. I'm waiting to hear ... Just waiting for that plop of the envelope on the carpet. My assessment was done by Capita. As long as I don't hear I still keep getting my DLA.
  14. Disgusted at Pets At Home .. Twitter is the way to go, you can get to them directly. Whether they will do anything, who knows, but bad publicity isn't good! Same as being advised that one rabbit or one guinea pig is ok ..
  15. I've had both my 80 minute phone interview and my face to face. She was a lovely lady but could give no indication on when I might hear as they do it, obviously, by the order they get they receive them. She said she wasn't allowed to give any indication on what rate I might get as she's officially not allowed to do so. Am feeling quite confident, but who knows. I had my interview at home and complained re. The phone one as I was on my breakthrough morphine at the time and just hope I managed ok ... As for sitting still? No, I was on the floor on hands and knees, but they obviously couldn't see that. My MP is aware of all this and is fully supportive. ---------- Post added 16-09-2014 at 14:57 ---------- On a plus side .. I got my new wheelchair with detachable wheels today and it's really light and I should be able to use it a little, hopefully. Though I have bursitis in both elbows and trapped nerves in one arm. At least my lovely husband might be able to push this one!
  16. Yay, what a great way to start a weekend. Very, very happy for you. X
  17. Still don't get it! The Robin Hood one was rubbish.
  18. Stand up and tell them if they want to chat through a film, to get a DVD and watch it at home, I always do. Well, the one time we went to the cinema in this last year, I did.
  19. it's only recently opened .. Give it a fair chance. I, for one am going to get hubby to take me next time we are at the hospital in Sheffield.
  20. Please keep us posted? Do you have a photo of him? Hope he comes home safe and sound real soon.
  21. Definitely not Medusa, we should all be supporting one another. Xx
  22. Petstar who was that aimed at? I agree with you .. A lot of people go around saying, "Oh, I'm so depressed" .. However, this isn't what this thread is for. It's a genuine desire to help. Why do The Samaritans exist? Because sometimes, it helps to talk to strangers. In this way, sometimes it helps to write to strangers. I don't believe that when you are at your lowest you can possibly articulate how you feel, but my hope is that when you feel able; actually Medusa summed it up perfectly. Some ways people deal with things may help others. Or perhaps we shouldn't talk about depression and then wonder why people have no sympathy when you are signed off work with it?
  23. What a well writte and great response. Thank you. I'm in a bad place at the moment, chuckle, so although I started this topic, I do apologise at not being able to contribute any more at the moment.
