  1. It's going, the developer has got his way at last and won an appeal against last year's refusal by the council to grant permission to demolish it. https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/politics/historic-sheffield-pub-where-modern-rules-of-football-were-first-drawn-up-set-for-demolition-following-appeal-3493139 The council have also apparently been ordered to pay him an undisclosed amount for all this legal wrangling has cost him. Not sure how I feel about that.
  2. I didn't put my bin out, knew there was strike action but didn't hear anything about a collection on Saturday. Will be rather annoyed if it won't get emptied now for another 2 weeks. It would have been good if they'd communicated this better and not been at such short notice!
  3. Get him out now! Can't keep chucking away 2 points to mickey mouse teams!
  4. Being held to a club like AFC Wimbledon, no of course we shouldn't.
  5. Seems to happen most Saturdays in many towns and cities. Some people obviously have nothing better to do on Saturdays.
  6. I don't think I can recall a single time I've been flicking through channels and found this one to be showing anything other than photographs with music. A channel showing live paint drying would be a better use of broadcast spectrum.
  7. It's been pulled! Yet again the snowflakes get their way because they don't like something so nobody else should. What a disgrace!
  8. Sounds like Radio Sheffield's co commentator is a bit biased towards Rotherham!
  9. That Eggborough or Ferrybridge? Edit: Just seen it's Ferrybridge, Eggborough has 4 left anyway. And it's 22nd August not 21st which makes sense as they usually do these demolitions on a Sunday morning for some reason.
  10. Less than 10 years ago there were 7 coal fired power stations visible from here. Thorpe Marsh and High Marnham were demolished in 2012, and on Sunday half of the cooling towers at Eggborough were demolished, with the other 4 presumably set to follow in the not too distant future. Bit crappy of the demolition company though, apparently they announced they would demolish them between 10 and 11am, and they did it at 8! People came for miles to watch it only to find the towere already down!
  11. Great to see so many on here making light of this. Because I wouldn't be laughing if it was my daughter, wife or mother who happened to witness it.
  12. Oh don't get me wrong I do object to it as well just glad it doesn't impact me... at least for now. If they do the same for pubs then it'll be back to drinks from the off licence. Will be a disgrace if they do. Not the same at all.
  13. Nightclubs are my idea of hell so this doesn't bother me at all. Just as long as they don't do the same for pubs.
  14. Unfortunately one of the many that ignored the prohibition to swim in it has come a cropper https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/emergency-services-search-for-man-who-got-into-difficulty-in-water-at-sheffield-park-3312791
  15. No it doesn't. And no, never done that ever.
  16. Nothing wrong with being "anti lockdown" whatsoever.
  17. I can hear them right now in Broomhill!
  18. Wish the NHS would stop sending me letters and texts to book a vaccine. There appears to be no way of telling them I don't want it!
  19. So basically the PCC will be whoever is chosen by Labour as most of South Yorkshire would vote for a slug in a red rosette!
  20. Did they really require an inquest to determine this? It was obvious what had happened, must have been torture for the family to go over it all again 8 months later!
