  1. I know I'm a bit late, but I don't suppose you still have that cello? My son wants to start lessons but I can't afford to buy one and I can't find anywhere I cant rent one?
  2. Hi there, I am posting for a friend who has two 12 year old female cats in need of re-homing, either together or separately. If anyone can offer help or advice, please PM me Thank you Kate
  3. Hi there, Can anyone recommend a Sheffield business that rents out motorhomes or campervans? I really want to go to a friend's 60th birthday in the Borders in July but am terrified of travelling - thought I could hide under duvet while hubbie drove G X (PS Sorry to clutter up discussions board, have posted in the Wanted section, but thought I'd get more action here on the Front Page)
  4. The newly-formed Home School Association are hosting their first Christmas Fair at the school. We are trying to raise money for badly needed playground equipment (I know, I'm a lunchtime supervisor at the school!). Come and support us at Carterknowle Junior School 2.30 - 4 pm on Friday 1st December Refreshments will be on sale, and stalls will include: Jewellery Cards Gifts Scarves Bags Curries Cakes Raffle Tombola Hope to see some of you there
  5. We used this chap last year E Hughs 01142530196
  6. "Be kind because everyone you'll ever meet is fighting a hard battle." (Bob Dylan's Gran said that)
  7. To be frank, I don't care if he's polish, swedish, english or welsh. All I want is a builder who's happy to be working. If I wanted someone who huffs and puffs and frowns and sighs at the task ahead, I'd get my hubbie to do it...
  8. and they always come at the crack of dawn - many's the time I've hurtled out the house in my PJs and slippers and dragged my overflowing blue bin to the pavement just too late...Onyx binmen don't exactly love their work... In Stirlingshire where I lived for many years, a recycling lorry came every week and took everything that could be recycled. The workers were helpful and friendly and they'd take everything that was left even if it din't fit into the box provided...it was like they actually WANTED to recycle stuff...
  9. I want to renovate my house - I have various jobs from building, hanging doors to decorating and I'm finding local tradesman lack...ummm, what can I say - enthusiasm? They don't return phonecalls or follow up visits with actual quotes. I'm not looking for work done on the cheap (though I do have a strict budget), I just want someone who WANTS the work and doesn't act like they're doing me a massive favour - I swear, the next joiner who looks at my house and sucks air through his front teeth then tuts is being shown the door! I'm beginning to think tradesman these days are like Kate Moss - they won't get out of bed for less than 10 grand. I'm know I'm being unfair to a lot of great craftsmen - perhaps I've just had bad luck....I'm fairly new to the city so I can't work on recommendations. Perhaps what I need rather than a Polish tradesman is assertiveness training!
  10. I'm looking for the mythical Polish builder - does such a thing exist in Sheffield?
  11. I was just wondering - are there any women out there in touch with their inner goddess? I'm female btw, so I'm not looking for a Friday night date - I'm fairly new in town, spent 12 years in Scotland, and just wondering how the Sisterhood is holding up south of the border.
  12. They've just opened the road again. the two cars involved in the incident seemed to have sustained only minor damage, so I'm not sure how the fatality happened. But the amount of police and gathering photojournalists suggest something serious occured. Someone in Moss chemist said a little old lady had been killed...
  13. Thanks for all the advice, I'll phone round some carpeteers next week. Meanwhile does anyone know a magic spell for making furniture hover 2 ft off the ground. Where's blasted Potter when you need him? x
  14. Can anybody recommend a carpet retailer/fitter? I want to carpet all my bare FREEZING floorboards. I don't care that the stripped pine looks pretty - I tired of being COLD. I view carpetting my house as a long term investment and so I'm not looking to do it on the cheap but rather to buy something that will keep the house warm and look good for a long time to come. Does anyone know of a carpet retailer/fitter who takes pride in their work? I'm not looking for a bargain, but for good, solid service.
