Who can recommend a good photography book?
ePz Pete replied to El Robbo's topic in Sheffield Photography
One of our roles as a magazine is to review books so we have seen many (most) that have been written. I would naturally recommend my own The Guide To Great Photography but it's sold out and we only have expensive limited edition hardbacks left. Of all the books currently on the bookshops you can't go wrong with Michael Freeman, John Hedgocoe or Tom Ang. One I particularly like is Complete Guide to Digital Photography. Have a look at our reviews section for more. -
Which films do you watch over and over again?
ePz Pete replied to EdnaKrabappe's topic in Sheffield Film Group
Bladerunner Fitzgeraldo Leon Camille Claudel Pans Labyrinth Legend I'm hoping someone has the bottle to do Wasp Factory at some point but I'm sure they'll spoil what's in my imagination from reading the book. -
When I went a couple of weekends ago I saw the stuff that goes on way before birth. I never realised they had such girth lol. It's cute how the male puts his arm (flipper, whatever it's called) around the female before he attempts to swing his lower region clumsily against hers. Good shots btw...I like the warm light :-)

That's just down the road from us :-) Sepia is an improvement on the colour version. An extra step would be to add a ragged edge like this

Hope you don't mind constructive feedback I feel the pink border is too thick, especially on the thumbnails. For some reason the thumbs take ages to load too. Some decent photography :-) Any reason why you've gone for a different colour scheme for the blog. Would be better if it was all consistent. Easy to find your way around which is important few tweaks and you'll be up there :-)

There's loads of second hand kit here Photography Attic I've written many darkroom help guides here Darkroom Guides As above: black out a spare room use totally black material (heavy duty vinyl is best)...much material looks black in the shop but when you put it up tiny pinpricks in the web let more light in than the eye can see. Once you've been in the room ten mins you'll start to get used to it and realise how unlight tight the material is. Black binliners work (double thickness) - but look shabby. I used to work in my mum's kitchen pantry as a kid - which would probably be illegal in this day and age lol.

Nice work on customising a Wordpress theme. I see you got a better view of the Dambusters earlier this year. I ended up being too low down:-(

I didn't realise there was a group for Sheffield photographers. I wrote a guide years ago. I won't link to it I'd probably get shot down! It's on close-up gear and I used stamps as the subject to illustrate it. Buy a set of extension tubes and you will be sorted. There are some imports from China now on eBay for as little as £9.

We run a business using Quickbooks as our bookkeeping/accounts program. I'm looking for an expert who knows the program inside out who can come and give us a few hours/days setting it up better to create budget plans, profit and loss, separate cost centres and connect to our Online OS commerce shop and paypal account to make processing quicker and more effective. If you are such a whiz with this program, please get in touch and let me know your hourly rate.
