  6. Yesterday was Mick (Henry ) Wigfull's funeral very poignant but then going out to" Hi ho silver lightning" was brilliant and put a smile on everybody's face. Great to meet up with old faces and reminesce about characters and events,if only somebody could write a book. Lovely to see Nicco,Lawman,Dorboy,Pete Davies,John Hewitt,Trevor Dixon ,Perksy and Reilly .A lot of beer went under the bridge yesterday and it looks like a reunion will have to be organised!!
  7. I didn't want him to break the law by saving me pennies he went the legal way lol .So how can you defend him breaking the law !!:loopy:
  8. Had taxi last night from Crookes to Foxhill at first didn't know where Foxhill was cos he was having problems with his sat nav!!Then realised where it was after a bit of thought.Going down Walkley Lane realised he was going to turn right on Holme Lane totally illegal made him go down Forbes rd turn left and go down towards penistone rd. When I questioned him about turning right onto Holme Lane his answer was the police allow us to do it!!! What allow an illegal right turn!!! The number of near misses I've seen by cars doing this is quite a few, as other vehicles on Holme Lane won't allow it!! Surely it is time for the police to monitor this and take action no right turn signs are there for a reason!!
  9. It's got everything you need great shops easy travel great club and pubs.
  10. My father was a policeman in the 50s and 60s and this was in the time when there were no walkie talkies. I've got about half a dozen brass discs ,same size as an old penny and with holes in them so they're the same weight. These were issued to police to use in phone boxes in an emergency!!
  11. Just deleted my message on facebook, frightened of being not in the right according to the vast majority of people?
  12. As a matter of record fuel payments for over 60s has been cut.I was 60 in April ,I don't receive fuel allowance until next Dec when I will be 61.They have moved the goalposts with this and bus passes , the age for receiving fuel allowance moves every year but has been kept quiet!
  13. There won't be many pubs showing it as you have to have sky ultimate which a lot of pubs don't or won't have due to the extra cost!!
  14. Went to Lyceum last night and when we came out couldn't believe the number of cars with parking tickets.|These were on Surrey St and Norfolk St obviously people who had gone to the theatre for 19.30 start. What time do these people work up to ?? What a great advert for Sheffield!! Mind you this was one reason we went down on the bus and taxied home.
  15. Every person entering the ground through the turnstiles triggers a count. It would be interesting to know just how many tickets were left to come in if any. |This must surely have come out at the 6month inquest !!
  16. Correct !! Remember when all production stopped because he'd got a stripogram for him in the canteen!!
  17. When I worked at brewery can remember yeast being squirted into a locker when bloke went on holiday. Two weeks later as you can imagine just a horrible smelly mess in his locker. One lad used to walk in pick up kettle shake it and switch on for a cup of tea.So one day we filled kettle with lager it bubbled and frothed and was like a cauldron off harry potter after that he always poured out the kettle before putting water in. Can remember people being sent for a bucket of blue steam or a straight bend from pipefitters. One of my favourites was a raffle rigged for a turkey at xmas, this bloke won and was given a live turkey on a piece of string.Still laugh at him walking this turkey round the brewery.
