  1. Went on Friday night had pulled pork enjoyed it it ,bit dry but OK . Cornbread and coleslaw very good. But why serve it in enamel dog bowls and old tin cans ,this was lost on me! Also agree with previous poster about sat with drinkers and not in separate dining area. Also had fried pickles more batter than pickles! Would go again but my partner would'nt .
  2. Superb video could nearly smell that beer! Back in 1980s did Wards pub passport 49 pubs in north Yorkshire farthest pub was puzzled tree in Halifax . Two bad pints Sheffield arms and mill field but never mind. My local was Bridge inn on Weedon st when George Powell had it great beer and great landlord. Also good pubs were queens head ,royal oak on Hollis croft and excelsior on't cliffe. The new Wards is missing that great smell and taste . Before I pass on I would love to taste a pint of that again. I agree with previous posters blame that bitch Thatcher or we would still be supping Wards and farting and sh*ting for England
  3. What's happening with house on Elm Lane with a blue tarpaulin hanging over the front garden. Whenever I go past there may be up to 40 people sat outside and on the pavement. Is it a church or what ,would hate to be a neighbour there!!

  12. I hope I'm not being pedantic but make sure on any application that its Birley Carr and Back Edge otherwise it could fall by the wayside. I played on here way back in the 50's and it now looks a bit of an eyesore with that metal fence running up the side. I agree with you though it should remain within the community as well the second Back Edge. Good luck in your efforts .
  13. Nearly all clubs outside of South Yorkshire charge for entertainment ,whether it's just £2 or for a good turn £5. Jagged Edge were mentioned,on a Friday night who would be on about £500, you have to take £1500 over the bar to pay £500. At 5 pints each that equates to about 150 customers, 40 customers= £400 doesn't pay for the group . In the North East all clubs charge for entertainment and the clubs are generally busy, as the cost of turns are covered that means that beer can be cheaper. It would take though a brave club in South Yorkshire to charge on a regular basis for entry into concert room.,
  14. Cavendish ,bucaneer weren't open same time as Mojo at least 2 years after mojo shut .Beatles never appeared at Black Cat . I think that you probably had too many happy pills at that time!!

  17. I worked in the NHS for 15 years finally left due to bullying by my manager. She had already had to leave one hospital due to bullying came to mine and carried on in the same vein. I had 7 months off with stress due to this women put a complaint in ,but it was investigated by her line manager who found her innocent!!!.Since I left another employee has been off due to her bullying and surprise surprise found innocent again. Too many square shapes in round holes, this lady is totally inadequate for the job she holds but gets away with it time and again. The job she holds is a 20 hour post but because they don't know what to do with her made the job 40 hrs and cut down on ancillary to make the money up!!

  22. The beer orders were brought in by Margaret Thatcher in 1992,this stopped breweries owning pubs .These pubs were mainly small pubs subsidised by the breweries who didn't mind while ever they were selling a pint of their brew. After the beer orders all major brewers were sold to foreign owners and the pubs went to property companies who only want rent . While ever breweries had pubs they wouldn't sell beer to supermarkets at vastly reduced prices because they were the competition!! By the way the beer orders which caused a lot of pubs to shut was endorsed by CAMRA !!!
  23. posted two weeks ago on history and expats!!
