  1. It depends what you're looking for, but I'd suggest reading these threads: Blind Date in Sheffield Good Chinese restaurant Canton Orchard Lunch Venue in City Centre Posh nosh Basement bars in the Steel City Favourite Restaurants in Sheffield? Best restaurant for a steak? If you're still stuck for ideas, try using the Search Forum feature. (Closing this thread to avoid duplication of discussions.)
  2. This isn't always the case halevan, although certain shops have been known to bring out old stock (and seconds) for their sales. Often the shops just want to get rid of their seasonal stock (i.e. gifts/items that normally only sell in winter or at Christmas).
  3. Correction: It's on Channel 4's "Relocation, Relocation" on Wednesday 14th January 2004 at 20:00:
  4. Yep. I heard that this is caused by your heart beat slowing down so much that you nearly die... and since your brain doesn't want you to die, it sends an electric current (or something) through your body to wake you up and get your heart beating again. That's what wakes you up. It's true that if you die in a dream, you'll die in real life.
  5. Yeah and "Back to the Future IV" and "Superman V"!
  6. I did the "cabbage soup" detox for a week in my 3rd year at uni. It goes something like: You can only drink water. Cabbage soup is allowed any day of the week. Apart from that, you can only eat: Day 1: Only fruit (but no bananas) Day 2: Only salad and vegetables (but no pototoes) Day 3: Only fruit & salad (but no bananas or pototoes) Day 4: Skimmed milk and bananas Day 5: Beef and tomatoes Day 6: Chicken and vegetables (but no pototoes) Day 7: Brown rice and vegetables (but no pototoes) One of my mates only lasted to Wednedsay and went for a Big Mac. Another of my mates lasted until Day 6 but hadn't eaten anything all week (as she didn't fancy the choices) so felt very ill! However, I felt great afterwards! I was getting up at 7am (wide awake) and felt full of life all the time. I lost a couple of notches on my belt too! (Don't know how much weight as we didn't have scales.)
  7. Had a quick search... (merged these two threads whilst I was at it) and came up with this: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?threadid=5131 and this: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?threadid=4226
  8. Try this thread (and maybe this thread). And don't forget to use the Search Forum feature!
  9. (I'll just get Geoff to bump my post count up and reset everyone else's then... )
  10. No problem - thread moved and merged with another existing one. You might also be interesting in this thread: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2845&highlight=jazz And don't forget to use the "Search Forum" feature! Cheers Tony
  11. There's a link there somewhere... I don't remember it, but according to this site, Geoffrey Bayldon is going to be playing Doctor Who in an audio CD release due out in May. (I presume that's the TV show we're talking about...?)
  12. LOL... I think that's a bit too subtle for this forum Rich
  13. 3 threads merged since they're basically all about the same thing (South Yorkshire Police)...
  14. Thread moved. Not "Sheffield History" related.
  15. The original story, from the BBC website is here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3336299.stm
  16. 1st rule of caravanning: You must have new potatoes out of tins (aka "Caravan Potatoes") with at least one meal whilst in the caravan. 2nd rule of caravanning: You must have a cup of tea first thing in the morning and slurp it each time you take a sip. 3rd rule of caravanning: You will have a good time, no matter what the weather. ... Can't remember the rest - but I'll let you know if I remember them. BTW, we made these up last time we went caravanning in the Isle Of Wight. Not proper caravanning though - it was more a mobile home...
  17. You might like to check this thread for some more opinions. Personally, I use NTL's "Freedom" package: http://www.ntlfreedom.com £15 per month for unmetered access (disconnects every 2 hours though) but that includes £15 of phone calls. Uses your existing BT line.
  18. AFAIK there's no such thing as a Windows 98 SE upgrade CD. It was released as a new operating system in its own right and only distributed with new PCs (just as Windows 95 B / C was). Or at least that the impression I've always got...
  19. Sorry to hear about your problems, but with all due respect I don't think it's possible for Telewest to repeat the programmes since they were on Living. I dare say they'll be repeated anyway since most of the stuff on cable is repeated several times in a week anyway!
  20. I'm in S10 and just got a Freeview box for Christmas. On tuning it in, it seems I'm missing some channels. Does this mean that my aerial is good enough to receive digital, but just pointing in the wrong direction??? According to this on DigitalSpy and this on The Digital Television Group's website, I'm getting Multiplex 1 (no problem) & C (quite poorly). Has anyone had any experience in having to upgrade their aerial? We're only renting at the moment, so don't want to have to shell out for a new external aerial that we can't take with us - so were considering an indoor aerial. Has anyone else (apart from fuzzy purple) had any experience using an indoor aerial to get Freeview? Has anyone got any useful information / links for me to read more about it? (And don't just say http://www.freeview.co.uk or "try Google" lol...)
