  1. The kickboxers from Marsdens are nice guys and courageous fighters. Great bunch of lads!!!
  2. David Shillabeer is a motormouth. He can talk for England LOL. He is good at his TKD, it is ITF style under the TAGB and if you have done WAKO Kickboxing then youll enjoy this style of TKD. The sparring is Light Continuous style. Dave himself seems to have an outgoing personality and im sure he'll turn out some decent students for you to spar with. From what ive noticed of ITF style TKD, they favour the lead leg and they like to use Side kicks , Hook kicks to score with a hell of a lot. Go along , im sure youll enjoy it. Also tell David that Farhad says hello
  3. I do work experience placements, we have employer liabilityand aI am CRB checked . We've had college students and secondary school students do work experience here before. If you are interested get in touch on : 07775914155

Last nights Broadcast featured: 1. Ryan Clarke (Marsdens ) Vs Josh Thomas (Contender gym) 2. Sam Hart (Warrington) Vs Emma Davies (Wales) 3. Paul Jeffery (Marsdens) Vs Steve Sutill (Contender gym ) ---------- Post added 19-09-2013 at 16:16 ---------- Does this answer your question Steve70??? :loopy: ---------- Post added 23-09-2013 at 16:06 ---------- Did you see Andrew Campsill Vs Andy Walker on SKY TV Friday night?
  5. Yes that is definitely him. I spoke to him at Thanapron Interclub. Good atmosphere that interclub.
  6. I think i've met your son. Hes really tall isnt he? Like over 6 feet? It was incredibly nice of him to support Lewis. I saw him at the show but wasnt sure who he was , it clicked afterwards. I nodded at him in acknowledgement while thinking (i know this lad LOL). Please send him my thanks for coming along to support Lewis.
  7. Its 12 midnight apparently, it was a last minute change around by MY Channel (channel 203). On the listings though it says "Teleshopping". Oh just for the record Nikki, your son's friend Lewis Miles Berry won his fight on saturday by a 2nd Round KO (via a kick to the head).
  8. Hi everyone We have local kickboxers on SKY TV channel 203 TONIGHT!!!
  9. Ha ha ha , youre a funny one. Unfortunately not You going to pop up to one of our beginners classes then Steve?
  10. Hi Grappler, Yes you are right we have plenty non fighters in our gym , most people in AFK just train for fun and fitness. Many of them also do Gradings. AFK have a full comprehensive grading syllabus from White belt right up to Black belt. With regard to K-1 , K-1 is a rules system that started in Japan and is based purely around entertainment. K-1 rules bouts are generally 3x3 mins so you NEVER get 5x2 mins K-1 or 3x1.5 mins K-1 or worse still you NEVER get 4x2 mins or 7x2 mins under K-1 rules. Anyone putting on "K-1 fights" with 2 min rounds or with 4 or 7 rounds clearly does not understand K-1 rules. On special occasions you may have a 5x3 mins K-1 superfight. K-1 corporation have even sanctioned World Titles over 3x3 mins. As for difference between Kickboxing and K-1, Kickboxing is a martial art/combat sport. K-1 is a rules set that all standup fighting styles can fight under. There is NO such thing as a "K-1 club" or a "K-1 instructor" or a "Black Belt in K-1" (K-1 is not a martial art) A Muay thai fighter, a Kickboxer an MMA athlete , a Boxer, a Karate-ka etc may all fight each other under K-1 rules. When you fight K-1 rules you MUST engage with the opponent. Timewasting is NOT allowed. If you slow down or back peddle the referee will warn you and if you continue to be passive you will be penalised. Shin protection etc are NOT allowed. K-1 rules do not allow clinching but you can grab and Knee ONCE then you must let go. If you continue to hold you will be penalised. You cannot have a Draw in K-1. In case of a draw an extra round will be fought. Once you get to round 5 if there is still a draw, the referee must make a decision. Basic Rules of K-1 : Each fight is 3x3 mins All fighters wear Shorts and Boxing gloves (No shinpads) Fighters can kick to legs body and head using shins or feet. Fighters can punch to body and head and also use the spinning backfist (Spin backfist must connect with the GLOVE only) Fighters can Knee ONCE after a clinch then must release. They may knee to the head torso or legs. Elbows, Headbutts, groin strikes , clinching and throwing are all prohibited. I hope this clears things up?
  11. On Saturday Night at Skate Central Arena , Once again AFK Kickboxing based in Sheffield's city centre are once again celebrating a clean sweep of victories. Here are the results on who did what. Lewis Miles Berry aged 16 was the first one out for the local gym. After an even first round during which he landed a jumping scissor Kick, he found his range and launched a powerful Rear leg Roundhouse kick to his opponents head. His opponent failed to beat the count giving first blood to AFK Khalid Al-Johani won his ISKA K-1 Rules Title on decision scoring a knockdown in the last round. His opponent was unbelievably tough!!! Towards the final seconds of the round, Khalid landed one solid shin and TWO solid knees to his opponents head. The opponent was out on his feet but collapsed after the bell had sounded. AFK have found themselves yet another champion!!! 17 year old Nakash towered over his opponent being 6'3" tall. Nakash used his jab , push kick and his lead leg roundhouse kick to good effect. However he spoiled his performance in the last round by unnecessary showboating , allowing his opponent to hit him (hands down, follishness really LOL) The last fighter up was DR Andrew Carr , formerly of a different kickboxing gym but now fighting for AFK. Dr Carr stood toe to toe working behind his boxing to land low kicks. His opponent took everything and threw a few tidy roundhouse kicks to the head. Dr Carr won on decision making his fight record under AFK 2 Fights with 2 Wins!!! He formerly came to us with a Losing record. (Yes AFK CAN work Miracles ) Yousif Ibrahim showcased his skill over his heavier and but less experienced opponent. The whole show had an excellent atmosphere, Skate Central had good thinking to use tiered seating on the rink itself. Anybody SERIOUS about fighting in Kickboxing (wether K-1 style or Full Contact) , it is apparent that AFK is THE place to train!

There will be : Andy Campsill and Ahmad Bilaal from AFK Ryan Clark and Paul Jeffery from Marsdens Also dont forget the MMA Superfight between Adam Hadfield (ISKA Commonwealth champion) and Rich Taylor (MMA Veteran) ---------- Post added 18-09-2013 at 12:44 ---------- This show is on tonight!!!
  13. Hi Arr Sez I (sounds like a pirates name) Im aware that many posts have been taken off by moderation without moderation even reading them. The malice in my opinion has come from Steve70 who is from an inferior kickboxing club who are really jealous of AFK's success. Most kickboxing bouts are 3 rounds. Generally title fights are 5 rounds , with the exception of bouts under "K-1 rules" which are always 3x3 mins and you have to keep engaging you arent allowed to "stall" or play counter fighter under K-1 rules. There are different sets of rules in kickboxing but i wont go into the different versions too much as it can get confusing.
  14. Ok mate Ask any questions you want about the sport of Kickboxing. Im more than willing to answer them.
  15. Khalid is one of the most laid back guys youll ever meet
  16. The coaches will look after you. Youll have a good workout. Theyre open monday to thursday 5-7pm. Just drop in and say that Farhad sent you. The main coach is an older fellow called Steve. Hes got an "interesting" sense of humour and an appalling taste in music (country and western) However Steve is like everyone's dad! You cant help but love him!
  17. Oh nice, do you know who it is whos fighting? Which gym does your son train at?
  18. Hi everyone This documentary was featured on MY Channel 203 on SKY at some point. It has made its way to youtube. Here is the full documentary of AFK Kickboxing club. Watch and enjoy.

  20. What??? Who's got no time for you??? Could you text me your number on 07775 914155 please. I'd like a catch up. cheers
  21. What they meant was 70% of all altercations end up with one guy on the floor and the Sheffielder putting the boot in
  22. You could do either. Womens class is Thursday at 730pm , again thats PRE-Book only due to demand and allocation of instructors. There are also beginners classes Monday/Thursday at 8:30pm. Tuesday at 7pm. If you cant make the evening classes then ring 07775914155 as we sometimes open in the daytime for Bagwork and Fitness sessions. Those are "as and when" unlike our regular timetable so ring to check.
  23. Yes i do you Potty lass hahahaha you're also a rather good boxer at that.
  24. Yes that is true , which is why i suggested kickboxing. Obviously boxing concentrates on upper body a lot more but kickboxing has all the punching techniques and combos that boxing does with the added advantage of learning how to kick , knee and elbow as well as a complete Self Defence syllabus.
