  1. Doffs cap/ I am truly sorry for offending your "liberal" sensibilities. Incidentally I am making a generalisation about your political convictions in the same way that you have made one about mine. I find it's ok to be liberal as long as you don't have to live in it. The town planners need to give the SW more tower blocks - just think of the views of the Derwent Valley! If you had the high rise drug dealers you'd forget all about the Romanies...bless you.
  2. Caroline Gill is a swimming instructor at Concord Sports Centre - what an AMAZING lady!!
  3. ..Nick Clegg's ever so carefully pruned back garden perhaps? The Lib Dem voting SE of the city should start practising what it preaches....
  4. Go onto Sheffield Freecycle and register - there is always someone giving them away to collect.
  5. No. 1 goes right outside it. I think you can catch that from Manor Top if memory serves.
  6. If you get a letter you can phone them and ask what position your in. If you're in 5th it's probably pointless going but you never know.
  7. So the price rise is on the 3rd Jan? Go onto the website now and try to order a bus pass at the current price. You can't. What a joke. I totally agree with Ryo. The tender is to run the service and there is no service. I didn't get a 9% pay rise this year did you?
  8. Thank you for this Manta. Looks like they are doing the rounds again. I'm going to ask to see the Headmaster re this. I'm stunned at how badly this has been thought through by the school.
  9. I don't think it's as easy as that. He has to have been living with you for at least 12 months (and you have to prove this) before they'll consider adding him as a tenant.
  10. My daughter walked out school today beaming that her poem (and the poems of 19 of her classmates) had been "selected" for a South Yorkshire anthology run by Forward Press Ltd. On the face of it - it all looks quite innocent...then they want the dosh. Am I being completely cynical here or does this seem like a lower than low, money making scheme? They have numerous captive consumers thrilled to get their kids in print (I understand it's called vanity publishing), they pay no fee for the content and schools completely party to the lie. Does anyone know what the schools get out of this? Incidentally I would be interested to find out whether this exercise is being played out in the more affluent south of the city. Are they just targeting poorer areas? What encouraging parent would refuse their child? This is wrong.
  11. Fabulous!!! The guy has obviously got issues but I'm flattered that he chose Sheffield and the people of to spit his bile upon...leaves all the other poor sods alone.
  12. Thank you guys. As it turns out PF is fully booked but I booked Hillsborough and my daughter is delighted.
  13. Hiya - posted this in the wrong forum - whoops... Does anyone have any experience of these parties? My daughter LOVES Ponds Forge and I think a party in the leisure pool would be great but i)I can't swim - does an adult have to go in with them? ii) Is it worth it? It's a minimum of price of £119 for 10 kids iii)Do they eat afterwards? Where do they have the party bit? Any help or advice or any other ideas very much appreciated.. God I hate arranging parties.

  15. Try this http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/family_parent/housing/tenancy_agreements.htm Housing Aid at the council are excellent too and can help private rented tenants on 273 5450
  16. You do have a responsibility as a new tenant to report these things and if you had have you wouldn't be looking at a bill. Frankly if you didn't report any issues within a few months of moving in they'll just laugh at you. when you were removing the old woodchip - again you should have reported this. It's not always the council's fault. One thing you might consider....it could be the inspector's last day and he might be feeling benevolent.
  17. I agree. It's not such a silly question and to know you have to ask. Honestly - TOLERANCE!!!
  18. They didn't charge per call daftlad...it was a contract worth 18M over 5 years. I do agree that it was quantity not quality that they were after though...The agreement was that they performed to certain targets set by DSGi each month. Every business unit had it's own targets and if it didn't meet the target a £20K service credit (fine) was levied on them by DSGi. Needless to say, much like Enron, near the end of each month, managers were in panic that they wouldn't meet this target and this lead to serious falsifications (- This was where I exited -stage left). Supposed if x amount of business units failed consecutively over a 3 month period - DSGi could end the contract. Thank god the contract has ended with that shower....it will be outsourced again though. It's cheaper for DSGi to do it that way...sadly.
  19. Where is the fish pond? I mean I don't know Ecclesfield that well but cannot for the life of me think where the pond is. Is it near the church. Yes I do feel like an idiot.
  20. I worked for Capita after they took the old DSG call centre over....to say that you are treated like cattle is an understatement. However if you're looking for experience for a short period of time it would be useful...just don't stay there!
  21. If contractors cause any damage ie to your home or the local telephone system - it is the contractors who will have to foot the bill. Sheffield Homes aren't going to take responsibility for employees that don't work for them.
  22. You can talk to a person 8-5.30pm who'll take a payment on 2930000 or 2035555. Council tax or rent payment.
