  1. Hi Seeking dog training in hackenthorpe or intake, any suggestions please? Thanks
  2. hi, great thread, just found via google that this one is 9 years running and 29 pages. Have a look here if you're on facebook, apologies if already aware. http://www.facebook.com/groups/Hackenthorpe/ oops just spotted name check 2 posts up, teach me to read thread first!
  3. interesting calling it cold brook as just discovered there was a coldstream place, near woodseats library, which either became osmaston road or connected to it. There was a property Woodseats House, with address Coldstream Place I suspect either where library is or the site that became KFC, after all had been Woodseats Motors in 70s. See Picture Sheffield site.
  4. loved reading the memories here, i was there 80 -85 in E, form tutor Mr Tweedy then did lower sixth, badly, then onto Richmond College for 2 great years too. Born in woodseats so attended Abbey Lane first. Theres alot of activity these days on facebook too, theres a general rolo group and even a year group members of E set up, always looking for old classmates, had a couple of reunions, naturally at the The Norton. Proud to have been a Rolo kid and glad its still there, even as Norton College when so many great?lol schools are housing estates.
  5. ANYONE THERE FROM 80 -85? a few of us are arranging an informal reunion, aka several jars at the Norton. Look us up on Facebook and Friends Reunited. Andrew Burkinshaw Phil Bennett Richard Thomas currently got about 30 definitely coming on friday 1st october.
  6. How exactly does Dore get a better Manchester service than Sheffield when all its services terminate at sheffield, surely other way round as dore is missed out by the express services.
  7. The 222s are 'grand' local trains in they have engine under each carriage, bit like the cross country voyagers. proper trains with dedicated engines either end are sadly now out of favour other than a few HSTs operated by Arriva Xcountry and EMT.
  8. take it posts 1, 13 and 18, 23dont equate to any band wagons being jumped on then, at best unthinking sarcasm. tbh and from personal experience such mental injury can ruin a career almost as much as a physical one. many drivers of both road and rail vehicles live's are spoilt by the thoughtless actions of vandals and pedestrians, be it accidental or suicidal.
  9. as an employee of capita under an out sourced contract, that of DSGi, I think you will find the folks at the coal face were originally employed by SCC before being 'sold' or TUPEd to Liberata. So basically will still be same people doing same job just different management team, trying to improve performance in their own style. Capita is well known in running council operations, insurance services and the like, indeed along with our site on the parkway, Capita Symonds are building the new parkway gate way project above victoria quays for the relocation of capita hartshead. So either they'll get it on being strong presence or as said fujistu thru the back door?
  10. In last couple of days local youths have vandalised my caravan, fence and gate, and neighbour's fishpond. They came back to my neighbours monday afternoon around 3pm and I scarred them away, though they later tagged some nearby garages and further damaged a car. I have some pictures of them damaging the car, as well as passing them onto the police considering putting them in the post office window or similar, crime watch mugs gallery style. Any thoughts on this, seems wrong few idiots are spoiling a nice estate.
  11. is there any truth in the council hitting grass verge parkers with fines of upto £300, rumour keeps going around our area. our cul de sac is mostly grass. theres a turning place that will accomodate 3 cars since someone had their drive off it. weve asked for asphelt but some lame about pipes. surely these could be reinforced and what of the drives that cross them already. the bin wagon chews the end up to point that a section was surfaced. seems we might have to park streets away. grass is just a play area for kids from miles away who ignore existing no ball game sign anyway.
  12. fasinating thread. grew up just remembering back loaders in 70s and atlanteans with videmats on routes 42/53 thru woodseats. to think back then in pte days there were 4 garages in sheffield, east bank, lead mill, greenland and herries. halfway to be fair seemed much further out in the country than it does these days with the growth of the mosborough townships. of course now all those buses or their descendents are squeezed in olive grove, the old east bank and sut charlotte rd sites. living s8 rarely saw any greenland vehicles. le, eb and hr providing the traction, that is unless travelled further afield. whilst at abbey lane school we would go to heeley baths and the bus was frequently a 'jumbo'. going slightly off topic trips to skates and graves park were on a private hired regent front door decker, company name escapes me but was silver for some time to do with queens jubilee. much later took psv test privately with a1 of beighton in similar regent crash box! first job was with sut @ charlotte rd under de regulation and certainly recall term suet...so nice to now know the reason. good thread just makes me wish i was a bit older to have seen old trams, sct buses and the opportunity to work under regulated transport for syt that provided me which such cheap reliable and safe travel in my youth.
  13. Hi LiR, was out your way laning with the nissan4x4 club few weeks back, think same w/e your dad was in wales. oops hope this isnt one of those clicky landy only threads i'm gate crashing.;> Hope you're doing ok, wow trials and comps, not been to one of those for yonks used to goto the yroc and p&dlr events round here. dunsville, deepcar and whittington for starters. btw folks we do drive our 4x4 daily, its multi purpose vehicle. caravan tug, people carrier (mrs is a childminder) and greenlaner. and at 25 mpg of dr diesels finest hardly a gas guzzler.
  14. couple while driving a bus if that counts. one just missed me, would have been a pretty sight even more out of control than usual down jenkin road onto railway track ouch. had firework thru doors though was deaf for few minutes.... firvale idiots. been hit by a pedestrian too, that was messy...for him.
  15. hi, seen similar plans. I have a book called sheffield emerging city, printed in 69. shows much of the modernisation planned and theres a chapter dedicated to mosborough. gems include as suggested the mosborough parkway running through towards renishaw, dualled all the way with slip roads and islands at key junctions. the link road over beighton marshs is not planned where it is but nearer meadowgate, with a junction to rother valley way as alredy mentioned past beighton suppose in line with the pylons. and the other way down and across station road below morrisons to a junction with windmill greenway. so apart from cutting through RVP to aston the other way would be owlthorpe greenway to moss way then over the fields/woods to the ridgeway arms and once up at ridgeway throught the valley to lightwood and norton. I do wonder if some off this was shelved when Shefield failed to win over bits of derbyshire and sycc concentrated on what it already covered. (hte bits including killamarsh, eckington and dronfield) another snippet in an old road map (a to z type) is donestk way branching off sheffield way much higher up the valley, above occcipation lane nearer moorthrpe way then picking up it course about the donetsk tram stop. may be the owlthorpe estate plans put paid to that.
